Guest lozzd Posted March 30, 2008 Report Posted March 30, 2008 So, no thread about how everyone's phone didn't change automatically for DST then? No? My Wizard never ever changed automatically. Everyone elses did. I had a thread with myself on xda-developers years ago about how mine didn't change its time automatically. People told stories of warning messages, or it just doing it, but no, mine didn't. So as I went to sleep at 12 last night I though to myself "ah, new phone, Windows Mobile 6, surely it'll change the time by itself by now!" Woke up, no dice. Same time. Had to manually put it forward. Was it just me?!
Guest Mr Alom Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 Yes lozzd, I think it's just you! :D My MDA Vario III and (packed up ready to sell) MDA Vario II changed automatically, so did my (back-up phone) Sony Ericsson K800i.
Guest finisterre Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 Woke up, no dice. Same time. Had to manually put it forward. Was it just me?! My other half's new Vario III didn't update either. My WM6 upgraded Hermes which didn't update when the clocks went back, did. You'd think they could fix this!
Guest Boinng Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 (edited) My V1615, running the original HTC Rom, did absolutely nothing on Sunday morning - I had to move it forward myself. I couldn't even find any option about BST or daylight saving anywhere? Edited March 31, 2008 by Boinng
Guest Electronic Punk Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 Same with my Voda 6.1 ROM, nothing.
Guest Webreaper Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 It's not just you. My HTC Kaiser is set up as UK timezone, but didn't change. I had to manually alter it on Sunday. Even weirder, 2 weeks ago when the US DST kicked in, I got a message to say it was adjusting for DST, but the clock didn't actually change.
Guest jontelfer Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 Yup - my stock Vario III did nothing. Surely it's not that hard is it?
Guest woogal Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 My v1615 upgraded to the voda 6.1 rom updated perfectly.
Guest Loconinja Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 (edited) My WM6.1 (TLR ROM) Vario III updated automatically, but my wife's WM6.0 (Black Majik ROM) Vario II did not. Is there actually an option for enabling automatic updating (like in Windows)? I couldn't find one in the Settings. Edited March 31, 2008 by Loconinja
Guest crazyc Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 My stock rom O2 Stellar updated itelf and told me it had.

Stuff that I could do with earlier models I can't do with this without it crashing. I wish HTC would pull its finger out of its cybernetic bum and make a stable functional PPC phone!
Guest simon211175 Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 My Touch updated and told me it had done so. Lucky, as I had forgotten.
Guest Webreaper Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 Have you tried this? DST update: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en KB949168 No. But I will now. Pffft. Begs the question as to why, exactly, this wasn't auto-updated through the Mobile Windows Update?!?!
Guest andrewkeith5 Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 No. But I will now. Pffft. Begs the question as to why, exactly, this wasn't auto-updated through the Mobile Windows Update?!?! because operators and manufacturers are too stupid to use windows update...its a brilliant platform that nobody can be arsed to implement
Guest Neil5459 Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 Those of you whose time zones didn't update correctly- have you checked to see what is selected in Settings/Phone/Time Zones? If ticked, this forces the phone to obtain its settings from the network, but very often these are set incorrectly. I have this setting unchecked on my Orbit2, and the whole tab disabled on my Ameo, and both updated correctly during Saturday night.

Makes me wonder if it should have been checked - but from what you're saying, apparently not.
Guest Confucious Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 No. But I will now. Pffft. Begs the question as to why, exactly, this wasn't auto-updated through the Mobile Windows Update?!?! And this has nothing to do with the fact that this only applies to countries (ie the US) where they have yet again changed when they are going to introduce DST. This update will have no effect in the UK. Are your time zones and regional settings all set to the UK (GMT London, Dublin)? Every time the clocks change we have the same problem. Most people's change automatically but some people's don't. I don't think we've ever got to the bottom of it either....
Guest lozzd Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 That windows update applies to the different times of DST for Americans. I am not American, nor do I live in America. This is amazing! Exactly the same response as I had last year. I can't see what I do to two phones, three ROMs that means I don't get updating times! It's purely amazing.
Guest Confucious Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 What operator is everyone with who has a problem? I'm with T and have no problem, could it be getting the time from them?
Guest lozzd Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 Nope, I'm with T-mobile too. I was with O2 before. O2 I had the HTC Wizard, with two different WM5 roms, and T-mobile with the Kaiser and WM6. Never once changed the time. :D
Guest Transform Posted April 1, 2008 Report Posted April 1, 2008 My Vario 3 didnt change time either. I thought this was strange seen as it is a windows mobile device!

Guest tsutton Posted April 1, 2008 Report Posted April 1, 2008 My Vario III (org T-Mobile ROM) did update but nothing for the Vario I (using one of the ROM from XDA Dev)
Guest lozzd Posted April 1, 2008 Report Posted April 1, 2008 You are cursed.... I thought as much, thanks :D
