increasing the unlock screen lighting

ne one else find this a problem? when i am trying to unlock the fone the unlock screen is so dark that if i'm outside i can't even see it, is there a way to increase the backlighting on the unlock screen?

I would like to know if this can be done also.

I had installed S2U2 (from xda developers) but found it to take a few tries to get it to unlock. it eventually [self censored] me off so i uninstalled it.
