If it wasn't for the fact the wife would KILL me, the 1000 is damn tempting :D

I still can't help but feel that >£300 is past the mini laptop sweet spot...

I don't see the appeal of the 1000? Its expensive, its too big to be really portable and I can get a better spec 15" laptop at that price. Superlight and supercheap is the selling point for these netbooks IMHO.

Is it much bigger than the MSI? The MSI is the biggest I would want. Appeal is purely the 6 cell battery.

Not available in the UK is it?

That is actually different hardware (different wifi + no bluetooth), whereas the advent is identical to the MSI.

Nah not yet ... although a nice email from Medion advised that it would be very shortly.

I initially looked at it since it has the nic which worked under osx ... but then again the Realtek has been made to work.

Didn't realise it was missing bluetooth.

I'll get an advent when PC World reply to my snotty complaint! (maybe!)

Its more the weight - my 12" is 1.5kg and I find that uncomfortable to carry around all day, particularly with the charger, the 1000 is 1.4kg I believe. Granted if it makes 6 hours on battery you might not need the charger but its still edging into more serious territory, and my 12" Dell was £500 and the 1000 is £370. Stops making sense to me.
