Thats because they never really received the emails! Its all spin and usual rubbish just to get you to hang on.

Yes, I did hear a certain amount of doubt in both shop people I spoke to.

Mind you, still going to hand on until its out before making a decision (SIM free, upgrade or new contract).

Regards

I have done my daily phone call to T-Mobile on 150 and I was informed that the release date for the Compact IV is now July 24th and I can get it free on the COmbi 35 price plan that I am currently on.

Can anyone call up and see if they receive the same information as I do not trust these call centre operators.

so it seems that they now have a price for it but I could not get the info out of the sales girl (kim ) unfortunately .....

Modaco local anyone? :D

MoDaCo had one about 2 years ago. Almost went but something else came up so was not able to go. Heard it was good.

Perhaps a good time for this Summer, Paul?

btw hey there, I'm 30 mins away from Norwich. :(

I too called 150 today and was told to call back on or after the 24th July as he didn't have anything on his system showing when it was due.........could only confirm it was coming onto the network.

I'm getting a strong vibe (after calling Orange six times - three times pretending to be with other networks, and three times as a genuine Orange customer) that the Diamond will be online on Friday.

I called Orange to ask about the TyTN II, seeing as it had been removed from the website. The guy on the phone mentioned that it hadn't been discontinued (as many people had thought) and that they'll be getting more on Friday - which, according to his seeming clued-up speak, is the same time as the Diamond apparently. I managed to put my name down for a callback on both phones, so hopefully I'll get one.

The more I think about it though, the more I'm inclined towards the TyTN II...

The lack of memory card slot puts me off the Diamond.

I don't always want GPS maps of the whole of Europe and the US, by putting them on different cards I can just have the ones I want when I want. And I don't always want to carry all my porn movies with me.

I've just called Orange, and apparently it's not on their systems...yet. Feel free to call up and leave a contact number though - they're taking them down and making callbacks when it's available.

it was news to the lady at Orange CS I just spoke to that it was on the website. its definitely still not in stock on 'the system' but she said they may be in the process of updating that bit...

I must admit, i thought the guy was putting it on as a joke just to make people go to the orange website and find nothing, but its actually there! price ranges from free to £119.00, i think its 39.99 on any of the £30/month tariffs.

Ooooooooh!!!! About time! :D

I think I'll head back to the city tomorrow...

or do I start a new contract... oh descisions!

EDIT: Just a thought in regards to pricing. The book said free on £40+ tarrifs, can't we hold them to that?

its annoying that you seem to be able to go through the entire process if you're a new customer - i got as far as signing up and it was still happy. online upgrades are 'currently unavailable' - at least for me.

Me too, maybe they're adding it to the database, although I wouldn't have thought that would require taking logging in down

Just read all your posts and I see its now available from orange, I called them yesterday to find out when it was comming out but they had no clue, so i found that phones4u were selling the touch diamond at £35 and 10 month line rental free, i called them and got what i think is a great deal £35 a month 700 min x-net 100 txt's ( i dont txt much) free land line calls 1 magic no. (call that no. for free) and free internet on a 18 month contract, the phone should arive tomorrow (ordered monday they had it in stock) have been waiting age's for it to come out :D , i was going to wait and go with t-mobile mda compact iv but they have no clue when it is comming out, also for some stupid reason t-mobile have changed the design, and have halved the RAM from 256 to 128, but on the plus side i think it is a gram or 2 lighter and a smidgin smaller, but i would prefer the extra ram to make i run that little faster and smoother. (BTW i got the ram thing from GSM arena

http://www.gsmarena.com/t_mobile_mda_compa...eview-252p2.php

also t-mob CS could not confirm this either.

hope it helps people

sorry my mistake the ram in the in the HTC is 192MB not 256MB, but from what i read the t-mobile compact iv only has 128MB

And where do you get the idea that the Orange version has 256Mb RAM? :D

Both have 192MB (sort of!)

The ONLY difference is design (and I think I prefer the T-Mo design!)

They have 192 but 64Mb can't actually be used, so I think, yet again, T-mobile are being more transparent than Orange.

I've just spoke to CS, said that I phoned up the other day to cancel the contract (I had done) and the lady offered me a better deal, but would be easier to sort out once the phone has been released. The CS guy then finished my sentence and knew what I wanted. Was told although it's on the website it's still not on their screen ("which is odd", CS). He said he has told everyone else to phone up at 8am tomorrow, so I then asked how many calls he's had in the last hour. "Never mind the last hour, this has been going on since May", was his response.

So good luck to the guy infront of me in the queue at 8am tomorrow, and even more luck to the guy behind me.

J.
