Wow!

PCWorld.com is reporting that HTC is set to ship it's one millionth Touch Diamond in August, which is great news, particularly as HTC say Touch Diamond sales are outpacing the sales of the wildly popular original Touch. The figures also put HTC well on schedule to hit their target of 2 million sales by the end of the year.

The Touch Diamond has been launched by over 50 operators in 30 countries around the world.

PC World is also reporting that on Monday, HTC announced a deal with Taiwan Mobile to offer the Touch Diamond for free to people who sign a 3G contract. The cost of the handset is recouped over time through the contract, as is the case with the iPhone 3G - HTC had originally planned to launch the Touch Diamond for NT$23,900 (US$781) in Taiwan.

Together with the Touch Pro launch and the as yet announced 'Touch Dual' style Diamond - not to mention HTC OEM'ing the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 and the rumoured HTC Dream - it looks set to be a great 2008 for HTC! :D

*goes off to buy some HTC shares* :D

1 million handsets in 6 weeks? When the original Touch sold 800,000 in 6 months? :D

I'm guessing this is devices shipped rather than those actually sold then!
