Is there a game that is compatable with the Omnia that uses the accelerometer. I have tried a few trials but none seem to work.

I wonder if that beer thing will work on this phone, as I think its rather clever and would like to have it on my phone

That one would be great, anything would be great just to have one game to show off that part of the phone. I can't seem to find any that will work.

How is this "Omnia superphone" compared til HTC Diamond?

Anyone tried Garmin XT on the big screen? Maybe a pic. with it running?

A few questions please Paul. Thanks for all the info so far.

1. What is music quality like? Over 50% of my usage on Pocket PC's is listening to music. I currently have the original Elf and while playback is acceptable there is a noticable hiss in the background which seems to plague a lot of Windows Mobile (Especially HTC Phones). I have searched in various forums for a software solution to this and the general consesus is that it is a cheap hardware chip on board that is the problem, not a dedicated audio chip like on the iphone. The only software that slightly improves the issue is SRSWOW but the hiss remains. I am after a phone that has the nearlest possible audio quality of an Ipod but do not want to go for Iphone. Have you noticed this hiss on the Omnia or the Diamond.

2. I've seen mentioned that the Omnia can handle Divx films. Have you been able to try it with say a 700mb Xvid file, if so is playback smooth and do you you the native player or other software?

3. I'm concerned there is no slot for a stylus. Have you had the need to use one much or does the bigger screen help eliminate the use?

4. My next phone is either the Omnia or Touch Pro (have no need for the keyboard but need the storage). Both devices I believe have some compatibility problems due to screen resolution. Have you suffered much with installing 3rd party apps and if so which do you think is the better bet.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Is there a way to increase the touch screen sensitivity???? - like Iphone?

I know Iphone is thermosensitive or something like that...

Is Omnia too??

I'd like the lightest touch to be responsive.

right now with my omnia... sometimes I have to really press and do it hard to respond.

P.S. I am using a screen protector specially designed for the i900 (just for the record, because I don't know if it interferes)

And.

Is there a way to display the keyboard letters above (out of the finger sight) when I press them?? like in Iphone keyboard???

I love some Iphone features. But I really need WM for my work, and I miss some of its features.

Thank you very much again, for your work.

Hi Paul

I got an Omnia from USA via a freind, it has the following version:

PDA i900DXHG4/DXHG4

PHONE i900DXHG

is this a new ROM ?

What is the order of this rom between the most old and new ?

I found the device is slow really. it does not respond unless you tap hard and/or twice

Cud this be because of the screen protector ?

Or there is a better and tested ROM that I shoud use ?

Thank you in advance

Hello Paul, this is my first post, (I just registered)

I have a Samsung Omnia i900 since last week and I am already amazed by it. I had a Eten Glofiish M700 before.

Now that I start to enjoy the Omnia I tryied to activate 3G to make videocalls just to find out that this device uses 2100 Mhz band for 3g and we don't have that one in my country (Argentina), we have 850/1900 and 900 only.

The question is, the new firmware (DXHG4) might make a difference there? because my phone came with firmware DXHG3 both PDA and Phone.

Well, that's all

Thanks a lot and I hope to be able to help a little bit in this forum.

No, I don't envisage other 3G bands being enabled via software. I assume it is a hardware limitation.

I've ordered mine from Vodafone and waiting for it to arrive - new toy time is there any better time?? ;)

Not really interested in games but I would be most happy if the 'Light Sabre' app is available for the Omnia (just so I can join in the light sabre fights with my N95 owning mates)

Hi Paul!

I bought a Omnia (from Italy) which ROM version is:

PDA : i900XIHG3

TELF: i900XXHG3

1. Can I update to i900DXHH3 directly?

2. There are some known problems by upgrading from my ROM? ( I read no information about upgrading from my ROM, but somewhere I read that's an update for Singapure devices only :S)

3. This update will upgrade my PDA and Phone version?

Thanks!

Theoretically, it's not without danger tho!

P

Yes, I know. I had flashed an amount of devices but... I ask if this update (i900XIHG3 to i900DXHH3) have some known problems? Or if I have to upgrade (or downgrade like PSP) to some specific version first (as you said in another thread to update first to the Portuguese and then to HH1).

In short, what do you recommend to do first for upgrade to HH3 (apart from having full battery charge and stuffs like this). A step by step it would be great! Because you posted this for upgrade to G4 and then to HH1 but not to HH3 . Do you understand me?

PD: I think that it's better to upgrade to HH3 than to HH1, right?

Thank you man!

Yeah, HH3 is the one to have... the risk doesn't seem to be related to what you're running already.

Hi Paul,

would you mind testing your bluetooth during a call & let me know what happens? i've had 4x phones now & they are all on & off like a Christmas tree once I make a call using my headset. If I switch the phone off during the call it comes straight back on stays on for a few seconds then goes off & comes back on again.

I also posted here http://www.modaco.com/content/i900-omnia-h...etooth-headset/

I have a Pioneer AVIC HD3 car stereo/satnav with bluetooth & ipod connection which works with all my previous HTC phones but for the life of me can't get it to work with my i900. Also have a motorola H700 that gives similar symptoms but the screen stay off after about the 8th time i manually switch it off.

I was wondering if that popup which comes up when you make a call "Press the action key to unlock the touch keys" had anything to do with it, do you know how i can disable that?

When using the telephone keypad, only after the call is active a mesage appears that says "Press the action key to unlock the keypad" and the only way to make it go away is to press the action key. During a call this is very annoying because if you want to enter tones during a call you keep getting interupted with this message display. My question is this, is there a way to deactivate this feature someware in the settings of the phone or software?

I still haven't found a solution to this annoying feature, can someone please help, is there a way to tweak the registry to get rid of this function?

The saga continues . . . .

As noted above, I bricked it. So, after hunting around the boards and finding no alternatives, I dug and dug until I could find a phone number for Samsung in Korea. Late one night last week, I called Seoul and managed to speak to a receptionist that spoke very good English and took down all my information (model, IMEI #, Serial#, etc.). She said she'd pass it along to the right people.

I got home Friday from work to find both a phone message and an email from a Sansung engineer in Plano, Texas, who offered to send a prepaid mailer to me to send my phone to them to fix, or (if they can't fix it) to order a new one from Korea and send it to me. I thought this pretty cool, because Samsung's HELP desk said they don't support the SHG-i900 in the US because it's not a US phone (I'm in Virginia, BTW).

Last Thursday night, I called Samsung's Public Relations agency in Singapore (because it was the only phone number I could find - I can't call a Singaporean (or Korean) '800' number from the USA) and spoke to a very helpful woman, who also took my information and passed it along though another channel.

I'll update this story as the need arises.

One thing - we here on the boards are truly an international community of 'early adopters.' In some cases, we will need to get things fixed by returning them to their 'home country.' Because of the '800' number problem noted above, I would suggest to the board moderators that there be a sticky put up that notes the local numbers (and country codes) for Samsung wherever they are located. I would be happy to contribute what I've learned to that list.

Stay tuned...

It's b-a-a-a-c-c-k!!

And it works PERFECTLY! I cannot compliment Samsung enough. They paid for shipping overnight both ways, wrote to me every few days to give me the status, told me when they sent it to Korea to get fixed, told me when was coming back, loaded HG4 into it and set it up for AT&T before they sent it back to me (nope - no 3G yet).

Evidently they have a tool that recovers the corrupted boot sector - no motherboard replacement for me. They even left the screen protector on it.

Of course, being a masochist, I immediately upgraded it to DXHH1 (angst bounded, but it worked thanks to Paul's excellent instructions) and began using it. Works like a charm.

Hooray! I'm a part of the i900 community again! Yippee!

P

Paul that is incorrect. i900 model's radio fully supports the north american UMTS frequencies, it is NOT a hardware limitation. Those frequencies are locked in the firmware. Here is the evidence to support this claim:

This is the official FCC documentation for i900 certification:

https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports...d=%27A3LSGHI900

On the page 4 of the "Internal Photos" document you can clearly identify the radio chip - it's Qualcomm RTR6285 and according to Qualcomm:

"Support for Eight UMTS Bands, Four EGPRS Bands, Triple-Band Receive Diversity and GPS Integrated into Power-Optimized RTR6285 Device":

http://www.qualcomm.com/news/releases/2006...rst_single.html
