Guest Dendy Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 Looks nice. It's a bit unclear to me, but do I interpret it correctly in it having one 2.5 mm audio output jack (headphones only, no headset i.e. no audio input) and _TWO_ samsung S20 (correct connector name for Omnia?) connections -- one for power, one for headset (i.e. audio output + input). Any idea of smth similar but for TV i.e. split TV out + charger adapter ? TIA for the info, Florian Yes, it is imo exactly as you wrote. For TV out you need this: http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/18478.htm
Guest nimdy Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 Am I right in saying this adaptor has a 2.5mm audio out on it, so useless for most 3.5mm headphones? If it were 3.5 it would be ideal.
Guest somedude Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 Am I right in saying this adaptor has a 2.5mm audio out on it, so useless for most 3.5mm headphones? If it were 3.5 it would be ideal. that is correct. i have the accessory and a 3.5mm jack doesnt fit. i think it was pretty stupid to include a 2.5mm jack on the adaptor. if only the phone itself had a 3.5 mm jack....
Guest lastnikita Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 Yes, it is imo exactly as you wrote. For TV out you need this: http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/18478.htm this is the perfect cable, the adapter is bad for me. I ordered it on brando shop for 19$ all included, unfortunately they were not in stock :) should get it by 2 weeks....
Guest guardm Posted January 23, 2009 Report Posted January 23, 2009 yes i think the single connection port is a big problem. I was wonder if there is a Video Out + Charge cable. watching a video for 1.5 hours will render the battery flat! Maybe a desktop charger and spare battery is the only other alternative. =/ http://www.modaco.com/content/i9x0-omnia-h...how-to-make-it/ go here start at response #21 on page 2
Guest FlorianO Posted January 24, 2009 Report Posted January 24, 2009 Yes, it is imo exactly as you wrote. For TV out you need this: http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/18478.htm Thanks for that, but are you _sure_ (i.e. tried personally) that the combination of these two adapters work ? IOW you can use first the "multiadapter" connected to Omnia and function as a splitter, connect the power cable to one S20 adapter (and get the Omnia powered/charging) and the TVout cable (above) connected to the other S20 connector and use it for connecting to TV ? Did anyone else here that has both these adapters that care to try and report the results ? TIA, Florian
Guest colinlaughton Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 Good news for everyone: Order Multiadapter Also just ordered one. I need this for using the phone as a sat nav on the motorbike. Since Sat nav drains the battery I charge it from the bike, and at the same time use an audio out, headphones, for the instructions. The bluetooth headphones I have tried are not as loud as when pluged directly into the phone. Interesting tho, Samsung UK said this hardware was not available and the phone could not do this. I'll send them a pic :) Thanks for the link to FOMMY
Guest maarwaeldini Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 2 weeks ago I have ordered the adapter but they sent the m20-adapter to me! :) now the status on fommy is "out of stock"...
Guest sonqquest Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 2 weeks ago I have ordered the adapter but they sent the m20-adapter to me! :) now the status on fommy is "out of stock"... has anyone else received the adapter from fommy? can it be confirmed that they send the right one (s20) and not the wrong one (m20)? please post any experiences you may have with this online shop. thank you
Guest Maxwell Newton Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 j'ai trouvé ça : http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...em=140284926401 Do you know if this has AUX out? The stereo in my car has AUX in, so if this did (with 3.5mm headphone jack) then this would be exactly what im looking for!
Guest apache01 Posted February 5, 2009 Report Posted February 5, 2009 I HAVE THE SOLUTION!(and you dont have to use a crappy FM transmitter!) BUT, it only works if your car radio has a AUX input! I too use IGO 8 as well as listen to music, so i needed a way to both charge my phone AND have the music/IGO 8 navigation play through my car speakers. Hi, A bit off topic here. But have you ever have problem charging the phone while it's being used with IGO8 ? My car charger is stop charging after 10-15 mins, because the phone is too hot.
Guest dwallersv Posted February 5, 2009 Report Posted February 5, 2009 (edited) Do you know if this has AUX out? The stereo in my car has AUX in, so if this did (with 3.5mm headphone jack) then this would be exactly what im looking for! Don't need it. Plug splitter into Omnia, plug headset cable that came with your Omnia into the adapter, plug your 3.5mm patch cord into that and then into your AUX input on car stereo. A seperate 3.5mm AUX output on the adapter would be redundant and unnecessary. If you don't like the extra cordage from the headset adapter, get a 2.5mm to 3.5mm plug adapter and plug the patchcord directly into the 2.5mm jack on the splitter. My biggest beef (which is microscopic to be fair) was that they put a 2.5mm jack on the splitter rather than a 3.5. EDIT: Found this on shop.com, which seems to be the perfect solution, when combined with the Samsung splitter (included with the US Verizon i910) to a nice, compact, 3.5mm connection. It's the smallest, most compact 2.5->3.5 adapter I've ever found. I ordered three: link Edited February 5, 2009 by dwallersv
Guest seriousfun Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 That one is M20, You should buy S20 instead AAET554CBE S20-Pin Multi-Adapter coz this one is for omnia, it has 5 icons http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/detail/...=SCH-I910ZKAVZW FYI this came in the box with my i910 from VZW in the US last week.
Guest sam1982 Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 i too got the wrong part sent over by fommy. They sent me AAET254CBE instead of AAET554CBE. Now need to wait another month for it. So be carefull when ordering from fommy.
Guest Fommy UK Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 Many apologies from the team at Fommy! Guess what..the two adapters look so similar that the shipper got confused! Wish I had read this thread before and realised that the two adapters are so similar yet poles apart. I can confirm that we have now the right stock in the right BIN...and we are shipping the right adapter ie AAET554CBE Samsung® (OEM) 20 Pin Multi Adapter Please visit us at to get the AAET554CBE Samsung® (OEM) 20 Pin Multi Adapter (this has five icons) http://www.fommy.co.uk/view-full-page.asp?skuno=82507 I will upload a video soon showing the adapter from close up with its multiple uses....it surely is a little wonder!

I need to prepare it also before new season begins and what motorcycle holder do you use? Any pic or link? Sorry for offtopic. Thanks.
Guest wkmmx500 Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 Hello, It took a long time but I have the answer to the original problem. Since a few days I'm the happy owner of the AAET554CBE which I bought from Fommy (see above). Tried it with car charger, original audio out cable and video out cable and works fine. Also tried the 2,5 audio out port. It was working but I didn't have a good adapter. I think it's not only working for a headphone but also for full headset (so with microfoon and switch to accept call). Thanks to everyone for the research and Fommy for taking it in stock. Samsung should have included this with the phone (as they do now in some countries I think). Now I use my phone in the car as navigation system and at the same time listen to it as mp3 player (with Kinoma) (-: (-: (-: Greetz, W
Guest TdhAndy Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 I was wondering if I get a car stereo/mp3 player with a USB port & BT capabilities I should be able to play music with BT but will that USB port charge my omnia? I want this for longer trips when i use igo 8. Even if a standar usb port has only 5 V and maeby lower mAh than necesary to recharge the battery, will it atleast give the omnia enough power to work without draining the battery? I'd be happy if the battery either charges or atleast doesn't discharge and after a few houres i unplug it with the same battery level i had when i pluged it in.
Guest jazzguy Posted April 8, 2009 Report Posted April 8, 2009 I have some problems with the AAET554CBE multi adapter: 1. I have experimented it with charging (with the original travel charger) and TV-Out at the same time. The charging will start (Red LED on power button, and screen show charging) and TV-out is fine. However the charging will go off after a while (average about 40 minutes). The power LED light turn white (or very bright orange), and the screen doesn’t show charging anymore. 2. I use an adapter to convert the 2.5mm headphone port to 3.5mm (typical 2.5mm male to 3.5mm female adapter). When I plug in the 3.5mm headset and play MP3 with Core Player, it automatically triggers the phone, and start dialing the last called number. It kept repeating the calling function, even I continuously press the end call button. 3. When I use the car charger and output to car AUX at the same time (either using the original S20 to 3.5mm headset adapter, or using the 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter, and with a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable to AUX), there is a humming noise while the music is playing. There is no humming noise if I am not charging with the car charger simultaneously. Does anyone have similar experience, or any solution to this? Please share your experience. Thak you. *BTW I am using the latest firmware IA5. My previous version of ROM (HJ1) also have same problem.
Guest GodsGift Posted April 8, 2009 Report Posted April 8, 2009 Do you know if this has AUX out? The stereo in my car has AUX in, so if this did (with 3.5mm headphone jack) then this would be exactly what im looking for! er, just use your headphones? I use mine for playing music through my car aux 3.5mm jack socket (with a male to male cable obviously) But I guess you wanna charge at the same time.... GG
Guest wkmmx500 Posted April 8, 2009 Report Posted April 8, 2009 Hi Jazzguy, see below... 1. --> I've never tried this so can't confirm 2. --> I had the same issue but was actually using a 2.5mm male from an old Eten X500 phone. I think the adapter is actually build in such a way that you can connect a headset (with microfoon and call-accept button). I don't know what the connections on the 2.5mm plug should be. As the standard 2.5mm adapter is probably making a connection somewhere your Omnia is thinking you're pressing the call-accept button on the headset and starts dialing. --> I have same issue, but only in my 1979 VW T2 Van (and not in my 9 months old passat). The electronics in your car don't have a good filter build in against ignition noise. You can buy these at most carparts stores and install it behind the sigaretlighter (or between sigaretlighter and car charger). *BTW I am using the latest firmware IA5. My previous version of ROM (HJ1) also have same problem. --> I'm on Sector's WM6.5 I1 at the moment.
Guest jazzguy Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 Hi wkmmx500, Thanks for your reply and sharing. It helps. So I think problem #2 and #3 might not be Omnia or the AAET554CBE adapter's fault. For problem #2 I might need to search for a more appropriate 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter, that will not trigger the calling function of Omnia when it's hooked up to a 3.5mm headset. I have tried with a few adapter actually, some of the 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapters only gives mono output (only 1 side of the headset has sound), and still trigger the calling function. For problem #3 it can my car stereo system’s problem, or problem with the ignition filter. The AUX port is side by side with the 12V charger port (I am not using the cigarette lighter which is also at the same panel) at my car. When charging and AUX at the same time, it might have created the “humming” noise at background of MP3 output, as the 12v port is too near to the AUX port. My biggest problem is still with problem #1 though.
Guest justpratik Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 Any news on the topic? Has anyone managed to find a cable that can be used to listen to music and charge the phone at the same time? This way we can avoid using an external bluetooth device. cheers all in one cable exist? means 1. usb. 2. 3.5 mm 3. rca cable if it is all problem solved. just we have to google.
Guest Mike5678 Posted April 28, 2009 Report Posted April 28, 2009 Did somebody alreasy test the Multi Adapter AAET554CBE in combination with Omnia TMC beta ? http://www.modaco.com/content-page/287075/...0/#entry1003830
