Guest Race.Ready.Kahuna Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 Hello.... I am new to the Omnia but not new to Windows Mobile... However, I have a USA (Verizon Wireless) Omnia. ROM version: S:i910.10 V.BJ28.2027 Modem Version: S:i910.10 V.BJ18 H/W Version: H:i910.10 V.Q PRL Version: P:51143 E:00004 With the given information, which ROM flash should I use and how do I properly apply it? Thanks!
Guest Ricc Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 Hey guys, I have a Omnia VOdafone branded, german Vodafone. It has this ROM: i900XGHG5/AMHG5 i900BUHG5 Is that the latest, or could I just install samsungs ROM?
Guest arsimb Posted February 5, 2009 Report Posted February 5, 2009 Regular readers will know that the Samsung i900 Omnia is my 'device of choice' at the moment (tough call, there are a LOT of desirable devices out there atm!), and now courtesy of kingmobile, i've just downloaded and installed the OFFICIAL DXHH1 update from here, which has recently been released to Samsung service centres! ;) Flashing this update gives you...DXHH1/DXHH1 PDADXHH1 ROM HH1 itself brings a host of improvements over the officially released HG4 build, including..More haptic feedback (including for the XT9 keyboards! Hurrah!)New Today widgetsMore screen rotation animationsUpdated core OS and application versions'Connected Home' DLNA serverUpdated Opera Mobile (build 1957)Reduced memory usage over released HG4 by way of omission of Chinese input methodsand probably more i've forgotten... :)The update process is simple (but of course, not without danger (hey, I test these things so you don't have to) :) ... if you can't handle the fact your phone could be toasted, get the update done by a service centre! Flash at your own risk!). Simply find a XP machine, install this modem driver (important!), extract and run the update EXE, connect your FULLY CHARGED Omnia and press the reset pin. Hit 'Start' in the application when it becomes available and then sit back and don't touch ANYTHING :D Other leaked (non English) ROMs show that Samsung seem to be continuing agressive development of the Omnia, with additions such as new TouchWiz widgets and additional applications (such as Samsung's 'LifeDiary') making an appearance in later ROM versions. It is expected that HH1 will not see a full public release, with Samsung instead choosing a forthcoming version with additional enhancements to make widely available. P HI PAUL, PlEASE TELL ME WHY IS MY OMNIA ASKING ME FOR A PIN : Only emergency calls can be made without a PIN. Please help. I am stuck now. [email protected] ASAP please
Guest djt77 Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 Hi, My settings are: PDA i900XXHH7/BOHH5 Phone i900BOHH2 are these the latest or do i need an update? Also is it possible to unlock the phone as moving from UK to Australia and would like to be able to use it on a pay as go network over there. Thanks Dan
Guest jack3643 Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 (edited) I am getting the same problem. I just got my phone in the US, from Verizon. I think the problem is that Activesync is not connecting. Since earlier posts have stated that activesync has to be running to complete the update, how do you get activesync running during the update process? When i do the soft reset (to start the update), activesync will not connect. Also, even after the above error, doing a soft reset will boot up the phone, but it wont connect to verizon's network. when going into the pone app, i get an error message that it could only make emergency calls because there is no sim card installed. Will this update work for GSM carriers? (UPDATE): i have heard that the update that we are trying to do through this thread will brick the phone, at least on vzw....does anyone have the Verizon ROM that they can share? i need to restore to factory settings????????????? Judging on your post, you have the Verizon omnia..... Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but that's the i910; not the i900. The two phones are comparable, but the roms certainly aren't compatible. You need a rom for the i910 to try to fix this. :S Sorry for being the bearer of bad tidings. B) BTW... : I don't have access to an XP PC. What's wrong with updating via vista? Plus, can someone give a link to the vista modem driver, or direct me to where it is. I found the xp driver (obviously: in main post :( ). Thanks guys. And great job on all this by the way. Guest xzyk Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 (edited) For all those having 'Port Create retry' after successful PDA image download, this is due to your ActiveSync being in the taskbar. Please press CTRL-ALT-DEL to bring up the Windows Task MAnager, click on Processes Tab and find wcescomm.exe under the Image Name heading. Press End Process and run your mouse over where the ActiveSyn icon in the taskbar, this will remove the icon and confirm that the process has ended. You should find that the switch from USB to phone will now detect the phone and the Phone part upgrade will complete successfully. The reason this happens makes sense because when you switch your phone from USB to Phone ActiveSync will immediately detect the phone modem and grab it, therefore the the update program will then not find it and will be unable to complete. Hope this helps the few people here who have posted about the problem. Edited November 4, 2009 by xzyk

Are there any other suggestions for fixing this issue?

Guest Stroescu Posted February 6, 2010 Report Posted February 6, 2010 Hey guys, My settings are: PDA i900XXHH7/BOHH5 Phone i900NSPR0 I need an update? Thanks Florin
Guest Turiddu Posted August 16, 2010 Report Posted August 16, 2010 Sorry guy's, here is my idea about the whole story flashing my Omnia from german to english. So many warnings and problems, like the need of Windows XP drivers (nothing for Windows7) and then risking to have a useless piece of junk. I can read german, since i am born german, what bothers me more is like compared to my N97, Software for Wireless access, which works excellent on my N97. Why do i have to enable WIFI every time i need a connection to my router on the Omnia I900, could it not be always on. As good as it looks, but for my self never again a Windows Mobile Phone. My wife wanted it, but she speaks only english. My present location is the Philippines, so no chance at all to sell it no one speaks german here. Thank you to Paul, you doing a great job here !

Guest Vickyl Posted June 14, 2011 Report Posted June 14, 2011 Hi, I'm not sure but I don't think samsung ever released a official 6.5 rom. You should look for non official ones. Sorry for my english, cheers I have Omnia i900 6.1; pda i900DXHH1/DXHH1, phone i900XXHG5. I have been trying to upgrade to 6.5 but all to no avail. I have read the procedure and followed them, but it still did not work. First I installed samsung modem for vista and them WMDC. I downloaded i900DXIA5_vista.exe, (277MB) from a link I found in the forum. I used i900executor as directed and loaded the pda, etc and click detect. nothing happened. I put off the phone. Grandprix detected that phone is not available. I put it on again. WMDC confirms phone is connected to vista but grandprix is not downloading. ssubsequent restarting results in the same thing. Is there anything I have not done? Is my phone version not compatible with d rom? I downloaded another rom DXID1, same story. pls how do I flash this phone? these are the links I downloaded the roms for reference http://shokka9.swisszano.ch/WM6.5/SHKv6/i900DXID1_SHKv6L.rar http://fus.samsungmobile.com/omnia/sea/ph/...dater_vista.exe pls help
