Guest goopy Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 Secany: great work! I really appreciate it. Could you please bring to some webpage this one: Polish non-brand i900SAHI2/SAHI3 released on 19.09.08? Thanks in advance.
Guest datafanatic Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 (edited) ZHHH3 > HI1 - with camera update = camera with gps issue. Reflashed ZHHh3 > HI1 - without camera update = same camera gps issue - so it is an "bug" in HI1. Went back to ZHHH3 - no camera gps issues (did not update camera). But gps fix on ZHHH3 seems to take an eternity. Actually, didnt have the patience to wait it out > 10mins waster. But with enhanced gps and download enabled, fix is almost immediate. Was previously on ZHG3 and gps fix still slow but got it with 5-10mins. How is it that a company the size of Samsung cannot produce a usable gps chip ???. Using my external BT Holux, fix takes seconds. But one reason I switched to the Omnia was so I would'nt need to carry an external unit. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr... Perhaps the experts could help on 1 issue - have -never- ever managed to get the phone updated, it always fails have tried many. Install/reinstall modem drivers numerous times, installed/reinstalled activesync many times. No joy..... And silly question - no where is there a discussion about what the phone part of the upgrade is supposed to do. Any pointers? Thanks Hi bobobird, Just my 2 cents, but the phone part of the flash/upgrade/downgrade is the radio section of the phone, ie signal strength (could also be other parts such as wifi and bluetooth but not too sure). I'm now running Secany's DXHI1 with the Phone/Radio XXHI2 (taken from the Italian branded rom that Secany put up - its not an exe file but the individual files to flash). So far so good. Battery issues gone (other than SPB Mobile Shell tells me the correct state of the battery, but the icon on the top bar on the today screen shows full no matter how much battery is left!! Weird!!) Haven't tried the geotagging but not bothered with that. Laterz Datafanatic ;) Edited September 22, 2008 by datafanatic

Hi, Could you tell us how long does your Omnia stay without battery loading? thanks
Guest Quist09 Posted September 23, 2008 Report Posted September 23, 2008 Just installed DXHI1 this evening, and damn! this thing is the bomb at memory management. Initiating programs is lightning quick compared to HH3. But initiating connections seems to suffer a slightly longer delay, but once up they seem to work well. One bug I ran into in my personalizing procedure: when I try to initiate a bluetooth link from my laptop and choose the option of having the laptop pick a passkey for me, I get the standard notification on the Omnia, click OK and am presented with a screen to enter the same passkey displayed on the laptop and the Samsung keyboard is already open. But when I go to enter the code in, no numbers or even asterisk-hidden characters show up in the input field. This worked with all other ROMs I've tested (DXGH4, DXHH1, DXHH3). Had to initiate the passkey process from the Omnia and choose my own key to get the connection set up. Otherwise, very pleased. Am now continuing to test changing the power states in the registry to all 1's (standby mode) and so far this seems to be allowing me to keep fring alive and extend battery on an always-on 3G connection. Will test for next few days to confirm and quantify, if anyone is interested.

I am keeping 3G on most times and it drains battery faster. Some tips please. Thanks.

Guest datafanatic Posted September 23, 2008 Report Posted September 23, 2008 (edited) Thanks datafanatic for the info. But my problem is that no matter which rom I try, the radio NEVER gets updated. Even tried flashing just the radio with GrandPrix and same issue. Btw, where can the XXHI2 phone bit be found ?? Thanks The radio can be found here on secanys thread: http://www.modaco.com/content/i900-omnia-h...1-need-to-test/ All you need is the Phone_i900XXHI2 file, start GrandPrix 1.8, select LV Image from the dropdown box, click PHONE (THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT - IF YOU PUT THE PHONE FILE IN THE PDA SECTION YOU WILL, I REPEAT, YOU WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE!!!), and browse for the Phone_i900XXHI2 file. Leave everything else as is, then hit detect. Power off your phone (or soft reset), and GrandPrix will detect the phone. Hit 'start downloading' and sit back. Once the log bar at the top right has turned blue and says 'waiting for the bootloading process' (or something like that) and your Omnia has restarted, disconnect from PC. Check radio version has been updated by *#1234# from the dial pad or check Version in Settings/System/Version - if all is well it should say XXHI2.
