Guest daskalos Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 (edited) Just updated my Omnia with DXJ1 -45 seconds start up from turning on the phone (dont know if this boot up is faster than previous version) -storage 55.23 Mb Program 56.26 free -1.5 seconds auto rotate (seems faster -Screen seems to be more sensitive/responsive (icons and screen buttons can be "pressed" with light finger pressure...widgets can be drag and activated with ease...) -Picture Frame app settings scroll response improved - Finger Mouse is faster bugs: The connection manager icon in the widgets doubles itself when drag to the main screen (the double shows it self at the bottom of the screen), so you got two connection manager...strange... but both works...when u drag both back, its shows only one connection manager icon...yikes doppelganger!! Maybe a Holloween ROM :D battery performance too early to tell Edited October 15, 2008 by daskalos
Guest daskalos Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 Strange it doesn't double itself anymore....spooky
Guest bbwolf Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 Finally got my Omnia flashed with DXHJ1 from pervious DXHH3 from Samsung singapore site. This version seems to run faster without flashing the CSC. Dropped idea of flashing CSC and install with ZTA4 instead for chinese input, found no drop in performance. Got major error after flashed when using gpsGate (installed in "My Storage"), switch the pda to connect as "Mass Storage" using My Storage without existing gpsGate. Unplug the datacable and try to reinstall gpsGate, got major hang with message something like "filesys.exe error", no use even with soft resets. Perform another ROM flash with HJ1. Yet to test out other functionalities.

Guest leon2u Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 Hey there, Nice post and I am running now DXHI3 which runs great so I am curious about this new DXHJ1 :-) Well another question is if you have a DUTCH ROM for the Samsung Omnia. Due to an update on the Dutch Samsung Mobile site my phone stopped booting and hung at the Samsung Omnia Logo. Then I flashed it with USDL_GrandPrix_v1.6.1_XP which worked and then update to DXHI3 and well this version is English. Not really a problem but would love to have the phone back in Dutch. So maybe I can flash a part of the phone with Dutch?!? Let me know please...
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 I wonder if we'll get LifeDiary in the English ROMs at all? P

Guest samjuan Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 which firmware pack has arabic language with arabic text input , i need this firmware urgently please None... Samsung is supposed to release its first official Arabic "basically multilingual" rom very very soon... I just called them and they say they are just waiting for Microsoft to officially announce it! because it is not arabized or anything, the system itself from Microsoft will support multi-languages like in windows XP! or at least this is what Samsung has told me!!!

Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 It's fixed in the forthcoming Australian HJ5 according to Secany earlier in the thread! P
Guest teixeira.vh Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 Words of warning first (bold, italic and dark red; I can hardly make it any more obvious). This is but how I proceeded; you might want to wait for the advice of someone wiser than me - or leave it to a professional - if you're scared to brick your Omnia. I don't know how operator-locked phones behave either, as mine was unlocked. Well, if you still want to try... First, you need to be on Windows XP, as Windows Vista cannot use the upgrade file properly (at least, not right now). Second, you need both ActiveSync and the Samsung Modem driver installed. If you don't have it already, grab ActiveSync 4.5 here. The Samsung modem driver for Windows XP can be downloaded here. To install it, extract it somewhere, browse to Setup.exe and execute it. Note that updating the ROM will wipe everything from your Omnia (except, of course, your Storage Card or SIM card). If you haven't backed up your valuable data, do so. Next, once you extracted the three-parts ROM, browse to it and open i900DXHJ1.exe. Then, connect your i900 to the PC and soft-reset it (take the stylus and plug it in the Reset button). Once the drivers are correctly detected and set up, the "START" button should become available and the i900 should stay still on the boot screen. You can also check the checkbox; this will format "My Memory". I always check it just in case. Breathe once, twice, ensure your Omnia is fully charged, and the computer updating it is plugged in the AC (if it's a laptop). Press START. Now, depending on your setup, things can go wrong, though I'm not sure why; this isn't a risk-free process. Anyway, it should load the EBOOT, the PDA rom, then will switch to the PHONE and update it (if a New Device window comes up, choose Install automatically), then will take care of everything else. When it's over, it will show Job Finished. You can leave it plugged in until it restarts. I know I had a problem when the update was switching to PHONE; the drivers were not installed in time and it timed out. I soft-reset and tried again, it worked. Some people recommend to hard-reset the device before and/or after the update, and that's what I do too (forgot to mention). To hard-reset, do a soft-reset (press the reset button with the stylus) then press and hold the Call/Left Green Phone key and the Hang up/End/Right Red phone key. You should see a screen asking you if you want to format, press the Call key to confirm or the End key to restart. If I somehow messed up somewhere, feel free to correct. Hello again, My PDA came with a preinstalled "Samsung Mobile navigator" - (Route 66), this new ROM brings it also? Thanks, teixeira.vh

Guest JonaC Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 I got a quick question: I'm running phone and pda HI1 at the moment, but like the idea of having some of the upgrades in DXHJ1. I don't feel comfortable using grand prix as i would like to upgrade like i did with HI1: just use 1 exe file with very little chance of bricking. Do i have to upgrade the phone part to enjoy all of the benefits or could i just do with upgrading the rom part? thx in advance
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 Er, HJ1 is an EXE too, no Grand Prix required! P
Guest M Seif Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 (edited) can some expert please tell us in short , the major differences between DXHI3 and the last one DXHJ1 ? It will help us a lot to decide whether to upgrade now or not ? Thanks in advance. Edited October 15, 2008 by M Seif

Guest mike1900 Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 So...where can i find the program? If i make a backup of windows folder and then replace it in the new ROM? Sorry for the dumb questions... Cumps, teixeira.vh Hi, Route 66 comes installed in the microSD card included in the TMN package. Th software and the maps are also in the companion CD. If you dont have erased your microSD card, the oftware auto installs after a soft reset. I've done this severeal times. Regards
