Guest Paul (MVP) Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 Secany, are you still planning to upload HJ5? Thanks... P
Guest GSeeker2 Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 Secany, are you still planning to upload HJ5? Thanks... P Paul, I thought you'd got the HJ5 rom. ;) Seems Secany has been quite busy lately. :D
Guest 1Mack Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 Yes the DTHJ5 would be welcome about right now for flashing and cooking :D  . It is great being a MoDaCo and on the cutting edge ;)

Guest chokia Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 (edited) After updated to HJ1 + Touchscreen more responsive + Faster menu - Battery drain very fast on 3.5G, WIFI (from full level after recharged for flashing purpose, played with the phone GPS , camera, youtube extensively , in 2 hours battery low notification. - Geotagging ON, camera takes forever to load ("Loading...) - know this problem since HI1, I2, now J1 still. i suggest get that part from HH1 and put in HJ1 - Garmin taking so slow to lock and show map location - After re-backup free storage become very low 4-10mb So i restored my Omnia back to HH1 where these good features retain:- + Geotagging ON, camera still can load and not status "Loading..." and the satelite logo is inactive waiting to lock and still can use the camera. Yes with Longitute, latitute and Altitute working fine. + memory storage 115.48MB, in use 35.48MB, free 80MB + memory program 96.71MB, in use 36.21MB , free 60.5MB + i like my youtube playing in Window Media Player (it strethes to widescreen automatically) + Garmin mobile XT very fast on HH1, the moment i click GO, immediately map appear showing my location, 3 seconds later the voice navigator will tell me which route to take. I think Secany should keep those good features of HH1 as metioned in the next ROM by doing the below 1. improve the battery like G4 2. improve the screen responsiveness like J1 3. improve RAM and free the ROM by deleting useless and redundant applications in the ROM like:- -a. Streaming Player (redundant!, WIndow Media Player can stream and play Youtube too and in full widescreen), -b. Digital frame (useless), -c. Googlemaps (better install Google Navigator 4++) -d. Google launcher -e. SimTKUI (for what?) -f. Touch player (no need, Window media player can handle more format even better with Core player) -g. Opera mobile (useless without flashlite3.1 support), Skyfire already working in HTC devices -h. Make few Apps in the ROM removable like help, getting started, opera mobile, windowlive, touchplayer, calculator, media album, photoslides (useless), SHozu (if we can directly upload to youtube, why we need Shozu?) -i. Remove Samsung Today 1 and 2, and those stupid Samsung widgets and the whole unproductive widget interface. 4. Just Make flashlite3.1 works everywhere, so we can have nice flash theme infront, watching youtube, porntube xtube, daily motion, etc natively. Once these flv playing in the phone, the file (flv) are already in the phone, and we can play it in other time with no more hassle convert this and that. 5. Improve camera LED, to stay bright (not dim to half) when video recording 6. Improve video framerate to 30fps (Omnia can record 120fps in QVGA, so whats a problem capturing 30fps?) 7. Improve the USB charging for any USB port, PC, wall, car etc I think al the above discrepancies are firmware related and not hardware. Edited October 18, 2008 by chokia
Guest kensong Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 Odd. I've come to the conclusion that HJ1 is cooler than previous HIx versions. I use the radio/mp3 for hours and even left the 3G data for <3 hours (by accident) and never noticed the unit get hot at the very least. Actually, the data line can be on but not active. It does not get hot streaming radio or on standby, I do that too, but it gets hot when I am using GPS or downloading podcasts. Go figure. And superhot if I am doing that and charging at the same time.
Guest Emre SUMENGEN Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 What is the proof for that? As far as I know, Omnia is capable of recording 30fps in QVGA and up to 15fps in VGA resolution... 6. I experienced that w/ the HI2 firmware as I use my omnia to download torrents via wifi but haven't experienced anything like that w/ the HJ1  Are you using any shell enhancements by any chance?
Guest lazylilsnoop Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 hmm, so actually secany writes the rom himself n provides it to Samsung?? so in another words we got an inside man in this forum??? lol, cool  :D

As far as I know, Omnia is capable of recording 30fps in QVGA and up to 15fps in VGA resolution... I used to have LG viewty, the only phone in its time with 120pfs QVGA = (thats how people do slow motion video ). You CANNOT make slowmotion movie with 30fps video, you need higher frame rate, 120fps is the poorest frame rate acceptable for slow motion You can try with your Omnia Video > Recording mode > Slow Samsung never brag about this feature because they are not the first to introduce it. Nope, I don't think so. What is an example of shell enchancement? In any case, I get the same issue with HI2 as with HJ1. Are you saying your unit is not hot when downloading with HJ1?
Guest iTnkD4iAm Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 Nope, I don't think so. What is an example of shell enchancement? iFonz, SPB shell, wininterface, wisbar and the like. I had one of them installed until HI2 and since they always reside in the memory it *might* be possible they're the one causing the heat problem. It could also be the samsung widgets itself. Since my phone was choking when my torrent was at ~740mb, I tried to free up some memory and switched to the Today 2 plugin. In any case, I get the same issue with HI2 as with HJ1. HI2 was probably the worse for me. The jack can get so hot I swear I could use it to keep my coffee warm <_< Are you saying your unit is not hot when downloading with HJ1? Yes haven't had a heat issue w/ HJ1. Also when I mentioned I forgot to disconnect my 3G data connection, I was also using the GPS at the time for <30mins and switching between Garmin and Google Maps.
Guest kensong Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 iFonz, SPB shell, wininterface, wisbar and the like. In that case, no I don't use any of those and I also prefer the standard Winmo Today plug-in. Glad to hear you have no heat issues because I am seeing it. HG3 was best for me when it came to battery life without ever feeling my unit was hot. Anyone else sees this heat issue with HJ1? I hate to think I'm the only one here.
Guest arctu Posted October 19, 2008 Report Posted October 19, 2008 I noticed when I updated to HI3 (but now I'm on HJ1 though), with Camera update, picture taken in the dark are less grainy. Oh btw, for the bright Flash issue, shoot in Macro mode to fix that. =) HJ1 is the best FW for me. The most stable I think. And I think you guys got the wrong idea, Secany doesn't make the firmwares? He only uploads them since he have them. (Probably working for Samsung Service Centre) (:

I hope he got the help he wanted from one of us. We do owe him a lot. Thanks Secany for all the ROMs that you have provided us.

Guest chokia Posted October 19, 2008 Report Posted October 19, 2008 (edited) You can get more MB by flashing with chinese ROM and flash it again with normal rom, WEIRD yes. I flashed I908ZHHH4_ENG then flash to DXHH1 then i ll get memory storage 115.48MB, in use 35.48MB, free 80MB but after I908ZHHH4_ENG i cant flash to H2, H3, I1, I2, I3 or J1 SO WEIRD, thats why i end up keep reflash to HH1 Edited October 19, 2008 by chokia
