Guest ferrari85 Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 (edited) Everyone has their own opinion on this matter. So, if in your opinion, u do not approve of what secany is doing, den get off this thread. Don't download any of his roms, even when he releases it for free couple of days earlier. HOWEVER, other guys has their own opinion too and they understand the costs that secany has to cover to upload the roms, not to mention to test the roms himself. They chose to donate. So, to those who disaprove of what secany is doing; STOP PREACHING UR OWN OPINION to other people in this thread. If u don't like it, just get off this thread and find the roms somewhere else. Guest Barthlon Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 Guys, As per Wikipedia, the definition of donate is “A donation is a gift given, typically to a cause or/and for charitable purposes” I went to search there because I thought my English is bad. But, WOW I was right. What is happening here is stealing. Secany is stealing files from Samsung server, it is very obvious he is working there. And he is SELLING it to donators. Firstly: Did he develop this software so he can get people to pay for it? Second, does SAMSUNG know he do so? Third : What is he giving in exchange of the donation ? Fourth .. Fifth … In last September, he said that he gave exclusive to his friend in Dubai to “benefit” from the Arabic ROM. And now, only donators will get the new ROM. Is Samsung not paying enough to its employees so he is using this way to increase his income? Does Samsung know about the practice he is doing here ? Personally, I will do my best to let them know and here their opinion, at the same time, I hope everybody here stop this donation thing because it is really silly and meaningless. quoting wikipedia..... once more: stop the flaming! what is happening here is that the good guy secany is releasing roms to public, and in a good way (i think about 1/3 of the people that tried to flash the dutch rom trough the samsung website got their devices bricked, i flashed like 25 times with secany roms and never got my device bricked...). that is just a favour of his and he doesn't have to do it FFS! so be happy! no need to donate, not neccesairy at all, but if you like secany's manners or if you're just a flash addict or whatever (or if you like to test roms and give other people advise about wether or not to flash a rom etc.). you CAN (not MUST) donate (yes DONATE, don't read wikipedia but just use your brain and think about what it means) and get the roms a bit earlier. damn, why do i keep getting angry at these guys.... ?
Guest lufeig Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 (edited) people, if you don't feel comfortable to donate, don't do it. no need to start or to keep a flaming war. the roms are publicly available. those who read this thread from the beginning knows that. i don't know secany, he doesn't know me, but i've flashed my omnia MANY times using the roms he released for free, so when i knew i could donate, i just did it. being in his distribution list is a way of showing his appreciation for the donators. anyway, the roms that are distributed first for the members of his list are released publicly for FREE days later. if you really care about having the latest available rom and you don't agree with secany's method, go to samsung website and get the latest OFFICIALY RELEASED ROM for free, or go to a samsung sat (and PAY for the rom update). secany's not a saint, but he helps people for free. you don't have to donate if you don't want to. just stick with any of the dozens roms he released for free. "latest" doesn't necessarily mean "best". but because i started writing this post to talk about another subject, here it goes: did anybody notice any major benefit from HK1 to HK2? i know it's kinda early to know, but maybe someone has been able to run some tests, who knows? regards, lufeig. _______________ EDIT: suggestion: moderators/admins, delete every post in this thread that does not discuss technical information about omnia roms (including this one!!!). secany already asked to not post messages about donations. these should be sent via PM. every member who disobey the rule of technical discussion may be warned. this way i think it may be possible to keep this thread clean, organized, direct and useful, which is the real purpose of this forum. Guest jakeordie Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 I can appreciate the point several of you continue pushing. Can you explain how it applies to me? I have never demanded or even requested any ROMs from Secany, and I do not expect him to give me any ROMs for free. I wanted to donate even before Secany added the Paypal link to his signature, and I still want to donate. Please read this a few times before you respond with "If you don't want to donate, then don't do it". I WANT TO DONATE. The donation instructions Secany gave did not mention a minimum amount, and nothing more was required than to post the Paypal transaction ID in this thread. Which is exactly what I did. If my donation was not enough to please you, then tell me. Something like this would have worked great; I am refunding your donation because it is too small. Please send at least $X or contact me by PM with any questions. Instead he cusses me out and denies my opportunity to donate by other means. This contradicts what he has said in this thread, that donation is not required and that the money is not his concern. How is my donation worse than no donation? I did as you requested. How was I to know that you would be so offensive in response? I have explained my situation many times since it became such an issue for you. And yet you see no reason to apologize for your angry words. This is one reason why I am upset. The other is that several of you have me labeled as someone who is demanding free ROMs. You are the ones who need to stop posting in response to this issue. You obviously do not understand my position, nor do you respect that this matter has nothing to do with you. I understand that for many of you, English is not your first language. This forum is presented in English, so please respect this and understand what I have said before you respond with comebacks that have no relation to me.
Guest hlay Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 (edited) OMG, can someone stop all these? PLEASE Thanks Edited November 28, 2008 by hlay
Guest user45 Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 There are plenty of ways to share these roms for free. Free file servers ,usenet ,bitorrent.

You obviously knew exactly how much to send for it to be nulled-out by the PayPal fees. If you feel the need to complain more the just open a new tread where you can continue ranting, bitching and whining without messing up this tread so that people can discus the different ROM versions here as intended. To the mods, please clean up this tread and remove all the irrelevant posts. Edited November 28, 2008 by mobilehappy
Guest pdaphonemaster Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 Just reporting my DXHK2 experience. I have flashed to this rom this morning and so far there doesn't seemed to be any difference from DXHK1. The date of this file is 6 days later than HK1, so I am assuming that HK2 is mostly bug fixes. Same storage mem, similar battery life, etc. Can't wait for the next one.

DXHK2 felt "slower" with the touch screen response than DXHK1 .....
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 Please keep this thread friendly and on topic, thank you. P
Guest ollip Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 For people who made a donation, please send me pm your donation ID(transaction ID), amount, name, e-mail address. Then I will put you to my special mailing group to have all the newest roms before I post here. Of course, those rom will be posted here, but some days later. @All: please understand that I am not asking you guys for money. I was here for only 2 months, when there is NOWAY TO FIND ORIGINAL STOCK i900 ROM, I uploaded for you guys and never ever ask for money or donation although there is quite a lot of people ask me to open a donation box or something. I thank you for that. Now I decide to upload more roms, not only the i900 OMNIA, but also WILL be HTC Blackstone (Touch HD), Jade (Touch 3G), DREAM (T-Mobile G1), etc.... For sure it will consume me a lot of time and also internet bandwidth, ya? Therefore, I decided to make a small donation button for people who really want to cheers up my work. Thank you for understanding. Regards, Ken How many days later is it for the HK1 Rom now?? B)
Guest bluey09 Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 Hi All, Can someone please care to explain or post a link to thread (if there is any) that how can i upgrade rom using grandprix ... the only method i know is the one paul explained in this thread : http://www.modaco.com/content/pocket-pc-pr...-update-leaked/ ''The update process is simple (but of course, not without danger (hey, I test these things so you don't have to) ... if you can't handle the fact your phone could be toasted, get the update done by a service centre! Flash at your own risk!). Simply find a XP machine, install this modem driver (important!), extract and run the update EXE, connect your FULLY CHARGED Omnia and press the reset pin. Hit 'Start' in the application when it becomes available and then sit back and don't touch ANYTHING '' Thanks

Guest Lowbytes Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 (edited) So back to rom research After searching the web i´ve found out that nearly any WM6.1 device having notification problems. Most HTC users report , depending on the radio soft, missed calls (reception problems) and sms / email notification problems. Yesterday i did some registry hacks - first i´ve tryed to switch on the repeating of sound playback. The result is: Incoming mail - sound - device switch to standby - 2 times repeating of sound then silence! New incoming mail - silence What a bug! today an incoming mail - opened the mail - after reading finished the mail app - .... repeating sound is the result- 10 times repeating arghgrrrrrrrrrr searched for any sms or other e-mail - NOTHING . This Version of WinMo is bull.......... now i try to install 3rd party application PhoneAlarm. No suggestion how to fix? Edited November 28, 2008 by Lowbytes

No suggestion how to fix? i never had any problems with incoming calls or text messages. though i wish it would be possible to have a setting that you can only answer calls with the appropriate hardware buttons instead of how it is now. when i get a call and lift the device out of my pocket i have set a couple of alarms etc. because the whole screen is active. now i let it lock the screen when it comes from standby, but that still doesn't solve all problems because there are still the two softbuttons to pick up and ignore that are active. but the mailing is just plain and utter crap! i use hotmail and a university webmail that works with an imap exchange server. if i set hotmail to fetch mails in the "push" way, it normally works but sometimes i get no notification. if i set it to fetch mails every 5/10/15 minutes i get no notification at all. if i set my webmail to push it doesn't receive mails at all, and if i set it to 5/10/15 minutes i do get mails, but again no notification whatsoever... sigh B) hope wm 6.5 will solve this a bit...

Guest mobilehappy Posted November 29, 2008 Report Posted November 29, 2008 HK2 seems to be a bit slower, i will try to go back to HJ9 or HK1 to compare it. Anyone else experience a slow down with HK2?
Guest ZiTe747 Posted November 29, 2008 Report Posted November 29, 2008 HK2 seems to be a bit slower, i will try to go back to HJ9 or HK1 to compare it. Anyone else experience a slow down with HK2? I also feel the HK2 is a bit slower compared to HK1. In this rom it seems the touchscreen is less sensible.Another observation, the touch player had stuck when i leaved a track to play ( the music stopped and blocked the player when it is in standby mode -the light goes off- ) sorry for my poor english
Guest mobilehappy Posted November 29, 2008 Report Posted November 29, 2008 Switched bak to HK1 , it feels slightly faster and with better touch sensitivity
