Guest secany Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 I'm currently very very busy with the HL2. HL1 too many bugs need to fix... hope can bring it as a X'Mas gift for you guys  Cheers, Ken.
Guest thegoodly Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 Well if I install one of the roms from Secany samsung has no way to find that I installed the rom myself since it is official without tweaks and I can just say I got it instaled in english in a service center. Or no? But I dont really get why you install the roms from Secany and not from the official samsung website. Isnt it the same? All i want is my omnia to be in english, have an untweaked ROM and without a voided warranty. Too much to ask for? I would go to a service center but i currently live in Ukraine and i am not sure if there even is one here. Also I doubt they would be willing to put english on it since everyone wants it in Russian here I guess. first part correct. you could say that assuming something went wrong, which i believe is quite rare now days as long as you follow the intructions correctly the roms secany provides are the very latest roms, samsung wait a fair while before they release them officially on the samsung site, yes they are the same. the latest i believe on the samsung site is HJ1 ( 2008, october, version1) which was released by secany approx 2 months ago. latest from secany is HK3 ( 2008, november version3). remember the roms provided are xp only, if its vista you require the its the samsung site, but i believe upgrading on vista is not really recommended. also bear in mind HL2 should be available soon, personaly if i was you i would go for HK3 then when more confident with upgrading, and read feed back then try again with HL2. and if your still at all unsure then use the samsung site, but remember they are quite old now. hope this helps col

Also I doubt they would be willing to put english on it since everyone wants it in Russian here I guess. So you bought your Omnia from Germany, you live in Ukraine, by your name I would think you are Hungarian, and you would like to have an English interface on your phone, am I right? Not an easy customer you are  I don't know how the German version of the software is built, but at the localization setup I can choose to switch back to English if I want. Can you? I am not quite sure if upgrading to a test release software will result in a loss of warranty, but if you make something wrong and kill your Omnia during the process, that may get you in a bad situation. Anyway, a lot of people decided to use the ROMs provided by Secany, Lord of the ROMs, and it seems the ROMs themselves you will not kill your phone, but the process itself somehow can go wrong. However, this may happen when you upgrade to the Official Release ROMs too, so... its up to you my friend. And u can ask them ur questions: Company: SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS UKRAINE Address: Zhylianska st., 75A Kiev 01032, Ukraine Tel.: 8-800-502-0000 Fax.: 380 (44) 390 5334 warranty: International Sales/Service: Sales & Service Cheers! :)
Guest tibor28 Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 (edited) Thank You so much guys! To be completely honest I dont have the omnia yet. Its comming in 3 days. I hope that what you are saying is right afarago. It would be great if i could choose english at the localization setup. Will see, that would solve all my worries. Im not really worried about flashing and damaging the phone. Ive flashed almost every device I own and never had any problems :) Its just that i dont want to loose the warranty on a new phone. You never know what can go wrong. Thx a lot for the adress too! If it will really come with german only I might contact them and see if they are willing to put english on it. Safe myself the nerves of flashing it :( And by the way I am Slovak  Peace to hungary! Horrible whats happening between our countries :( Again, Thx a lot guys, really helped! Guest lufeig Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 (edited) to be in secany's emailing list, you have to read this thread from the start. after some reading you'll know the answer for that question, you'll know how to use the SEARCH button, and much, much more, so you won't have to ask questions that have been answered a dozen times before... sorry, i tried, but i couldn't help it. Edited December 22, 2008 by lufeig

Anyway, to be on the list, you will have to donate something "definitely more than 26cents!!! :D" to secany to support him in uploading all this number of roms and testing the roms to make sure they are reliable enough. Otherwise you can wait, probably they will apear somewhere else on the web, or it will be released here after a few days/weeks... its your choice

Guest tibor28 Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 OK guys 2 last questions. 1. Are these roms non-region specific? Can I install the english ROM from here on my German device without getting the "Incorrect software version!" message? 2. If I flash an english UK ROM to my device will it still work in Ukraine with Ukrainian operators? If answers to both of these questions are "Yes" them I am ready to flash my omnia

Yes and No, well yes you can install them without getting that error, and no they are region specific, refer to the Samsung ROM region codes. 2. most probably yes, however the only way to know is to try it out IMHO.

The link above you will find how to set this region too. I am quite sure that you will not have problems with Ukranian or any other operators using Singapore ROMs, as a lot of people are using them successfully all over the world :)
Guest Bloo_DF Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 My nails dont exist anymore ... I am ancious on the HL2 Rom

The one that says "Here is lastest i900_DX firmware:" ? Is it english? The list is pretty confusing  Sorry for all the noob questions. I learn fast dont worry :(
Guest sztupy Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 Thx once again my friend :) And which ROM from the list should I download? The one that says "Here is lastest i900_DX firmware:" ? Is it english? The list is pretty confusing  Sorry for all the noob questions. I learn fast dont worry :( You should use DXHK3. The first two characters are the country_id, the last 3 characters are the version number. The higher (alphabetically), the newer. Most firmwares you find here are english ROMs unless explicitly noted.
Guest secany Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 Dear all, Please do not send PM or e-mail asking about i900DXHL2. As I mentioned before. It will be on Christmas.
