Guest tibor28 Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 (edited) I have never touched the screen of my omnia with my finger. Its much easier to navigate and type with a stylus and I dont have to clean the screen all the time  Also I am am extreme perfectionist and just a tiniest scratch on a new device can make me go crazy and I am afraid that when using fingers and constantly having to clean the screen it would get scratched. Guest Emre SUMENGEN Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 In my experience, the keyboard was crap until I switched over to DXHH3 rom, then everything was perfect. It puts my Iphone keyboard to shame now. Hi, What's the difference that makes it soo better? I mean, you said the iphone keyboard  (IMHO it's the best onscreen keyboard out there - ofc. the screen makes a difference too) I have never touched the screen of my omnia with my finger. Sorry, I don't think I can stand that. For me, stylus era did end with the rw6815... So, still, I'm out there looking for a good working onscreen keyboard, that supports my language, Turkish. The ones I tried were: SPB Keyboard Resco Keyboard ZoomBoard HTC Diamond Keyboard (a while ago) (none did make me happy...)
Guest Dnestr Posted December 27, 2008 Report Posted December 27, 2008 This sounds like a great tip, but I can't seem to get at it. I have selected the "samsung keypad", but it seems I can't get at the alpha keys. I only have numeric keys. There are 3 keys along the top: symbol (@#), T, and 123. It deafults to the 123 key but the T key is greyed out. I can also use the symbol (@#) key just fine. Any idea what the deal is? I've only had this phone for a ouple of days and its pretty cool, but I'm getting frustrated on how many clicks it takes to do thing that I could just do from the Today screen on my TREO 700wx. Thanks for any help, -Ed I have the same problem. Any thoughts?
Guest deepside Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 The 20 key pad is quite good, but a full stop is not available in the text section! that is absolutely pathetic, it is one of the most used things in the english language, a full stop and a coma. Heck even a question mark. They really need that extra button to be able to select punctuation marks.

Just make a small movement on the text entry area (below "subject") and the text input will come alive.
Guest Dblocker Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 Using the Samsung Keypad is there an easy way to enter passwords, URL's and other strings of "non-words" like pass@wd123 (not my real password :-) I love typing on the Keypad except for these situations. Alternatively is there an easier way to switch to the full qwerty keyboard for URL's, passwords, etc other than trying to get my fingernail to hit the little triangle at the bottom of the screen to select a different keyboard?

I'd love to give it one more try though.
Guest lambi1982 Posted March 19, 2009 Report Posted March 19, 2009 any way to get the iphone dictionary on the omnia, I feel the t9 can pick some words that make no sense. the Iphone hit my words 99% of the time. Omnia 45% of the time ;P
Guest Blobs Posted March 20, 2009 Report Posted March 20, 2009 I now use Touchpal after trying a few others. There is a bit of a learning curve so it's worth reading the manual. Once learned it's phenomenal how quickly text can be entered. At present it doesn't expand in size for landscape but when they release an update for this it will be stunning. http://www.cootek.com/intro.aspx
Guest roc22 Posted March 22, 2009 Report Posted March 22, 2009 (edited) First post! I am a former Palm Treo 700w/700wx user (for the last 4 years) and I decided to give up the full qwerty for a larger screen and better apps. I have read all the suggestions for the right onscreen keyboard. After trying all the ones that came installed on the phone, including the standard WinMo one, I settled on the SPB Keyboard. It has a skin that mirrors the Treo keyboard and the button are a little better spaced. The fullscreen mode is awesome and nearly eliminates typos (I hate using the stylus to type). Just my 1st two cents... Edited March 22, 2009 by roc22
Guest markvanhaze Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 I was just wondering if anybody has a quick way to switch the TX9 language on the samsung keyboard. Its a pain to do it over the tiny triangle besides the "options" of your keyboard.
