Hi,

Just another alternative. Instead of GPSGate, I use GPSPlex (free) with TT7 (www.maicas.net/gpsplex/).

Ciao

Indeed great alternative! Even though it is in Spanish only (no problem for me btw), it gives you in 50K exactly what you need to have TT7 work. GPS Gate is NOT free and is more than 1MB if I remember well. Go get it!

If you need help configuring just let me know!

Here you have just one Mortscript file that launches GPSPlex and TT7.

#------------------------------------------

#

# Tomtom & GpsFlex launcher

#

#------------------------------------------

# Arranca el GPSFlex

if (ProcExists("GpsFlex.exe") = 0)

Run("\Tarj. Memoria\Archivos de Programa\GpsFlex\GpsFlex.EXE")

endif

# Launchs TomTom

if (ProcExists("TomTom Navigator.exe") = 0)

RunWait("\Tarj. Memoria\Archivos de Programa\Navigator\TomTom Navigator.exe")

else

Show("TomTom Navigator")

while (WndExists ("TomTom Navigator"))

sleep(1000)

endwhile

endif

# kill GpsFlex

if (ProcExists("GpsPlex.exe"))

kill("GpsPlex")

endif

In bold you have to change your own paths to the programs.

I hope this helps.

TomTom 7 is working quite poorly without GPSGate, with it it works like a charm.

I've tried iGo 8, wasnt impressed, picked up an illegal version of TT7 (If you need to ask where don't bother), got GPSGate by googling it (make sure to google for a windows mobile version), never got any message that told me to pay so I'm not sure if that's legal, but the point is it's easy enough to get a hold of. Setting it up was easy, running the script provided here, and it all works great!

Running HJ1, located in the netherlands so TomTom map coverage is probably the best you'll get from any navigator.

To uninstall, there is a shortcut in the Programs list called Uninstall Nav'n'Go - that's how you uninstall.

The loading.bmp file is in the data.zip and the branding.zip (both within ui_igo8/400_240), so it sounds like you are missing that file. Unzip each of the branding and data and have a look.

Laterz

DF :lol:

I just install the Igo8 into my i900. Everything looks good, but the only map I have in it is Romania Map. Can someone please provide a link to download the USA maps and also how to install it. Thanks in advance

I have Igo8 and Route66 Mobile 8 on my Omnia, and although the igo8 has de 3d buildings and the 3d terrain... I prefer the Route 66, this version is the Samsung Mobile Navigator and it works great and locks in no time...

I use TomTom Navigator 7 in Canada and it works well enough. It's not free, unless you were to steal it.

You're not going to find anything useful that's free... other than Google Maps. The only problem is you need a data connection to use Google Maps, and it doesn't give you turn-by-turn directions or 3D birds eye view.

Heyy,

I was wondering how I can get TomTom 7?? would i have to purchase it over the internet?? Cause I also live in Canada and Im not sure how to use the GPS on my Omnia.

thanks!

I'm in the Netherlands and I tried Sygic, Garmin and IGO 8.0. All run fine on the i900.

Haing a data connection over GPRS or 3G for initial fix is the only way to have it reliably working with any of them.

So after testing them (before deciding which one to buy) I decided to have a go with tomtom7 and assuming it couldn't find any gps signals I read some articles about intermediate programms to fix that (portsplittter and the likes). I decide to go with VirtCommMgr.

Installed just fine and got a fix almost immediatly. So far so good. But then I noticed an immense batterydrain and not knowing what caused it I decided to remove VirtCommMgr from the startup folder and reset the phone. I started looking for a mortscript but didn't find it in time and had to go to work. Sure enough by the end of the day while driving back I forgot to start VirtCommMgr before tt7 so tt7 could'nt find gps device (virtual port was gone), while driving switched to the com3 port (which is the one configured in WM6) without expecting it to work, tt7 made a gprs connection and.. low and behold gps-fix with 7 sattelites in about 30 seconds with accurate position. B) B) B)

I must go somewhere tommorow but I don't know the route so I'll rely on TT7 and i'll try to get a fix again without starting VirtComMgr and keep you guys posted about this.

B.T.W. I'm running MDC03 based on HJ9.
