Guest FutureDirt Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 Just got an email back. They say € 24,90 for cable and postage to UK. This seems quite reasonable but they want a BACS payment upfront?!?! I've emailed them to ask if they'll accept a phone order with credit card. Will get back as soon as ..... BACS?!?!?! lol ... who do they normally sell 25 euro cables to? banks? lol
Guest Unisoldrew Posted September 19, 2008 Report Posted September 19, 2008 BACS?!?!?! lol ... who do they normally sell 25 euro cables to? banks? lol Yeah, a bit over the top innit. ;)
Guest Unisoldrew Posted September 20, 2008 Report Posted September 20, 2008 Just received an email back with better instructions how to order from their site which is good cos i don't understand a word of it! Right, off to give it a go!
Guest mimimui Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 Can I use this cable to output to the presenter for powerpoint presentation?
Guest lastnikita Posted September 21, 2008 Report Posted September 21, 2008 I received one, and I'm very disappointed. The main problem is the chipset will only output at i900's resolution, instead of a most suited one for TV's. The result is very poor, so that you can't display pictures or movies with a decent quality (looks pretty much the same as a bad VHS video) That's a shame, especially since I intended to use this A LOT, as an addition to my portable video-projector ;)

Was hoping for a good result as well. My other choice was the Touch Pro which did get a good review for tv out, but I just couldn't wait for it.... sigh...
Guest PaSSoA Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 That's sad to hear. From the youtube vid posted on the first page, it looked pretty decent. Any of you with the cable willing to take more pictures or videos with the tv-out in action. eg. when surfing the net, presentation or watching standard avi file...
Guest Netko Posted October 4, 2008 Report Posted October 4, 2008 Can you connect onmia to TV and charge it on the same time?
Guest whatledog Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 Can someone post some tv-out pictures and/or confirm the quaility of movies/presentations with tv-out, please. Like other people, this issue will decide whether I get the omnia. thanks
Guest catmat Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 How made TV cable 2in1 (tv+charge) by youself. Made by our Russian community user, for output navigation on to buildin car tv, and charging i900.

However, some videos tend to lag for some reason. My cable is from singapore btw, but from the wordings on the case I think it was imported from an arab country.

You can change the aspect ratio, quality, brightness and contrast. Probably the most important part- you can change the output to the region of your TV. In North America it should be set to NTSC. Mine was defaulted to PAL from the factory, which could explain the crappy quality. The TV out on my z710, with a crappy third party cable was top notch. It seems like Samsung usually doesn't "phone this stuff in".

Any chance to put the pictures here...
Guest FutureDirt Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 I just wanted to confirm in this thread that the TV out cable for a U900 works on an i900. Got mine delivered yesterday... wasn't totally blown away with the quality to be honest. I hooked it up to a 50 inch plasma TV and it basically looks just like it really should... QVGA lol. I havent played with any settings yet...

Guest FutureDirt Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 Is quality any different if you use "tv out viewer" application? Well... i just tried using the tv out viewer app... not good... it doesnt seem to open any type of file at all!!! I cant therefore tell you whether the quality is any better or not. Im not sure if its because im using a cable made for the u900 or not... but the quality of the tv display is pretty poor overall.
Guest lastnikita Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 TV out viewer only showed me directories as well..

Try it with Word, Excel, Powerpoint files or even pdf files I tried it before by using Tv out viewer with those files the resolution is exceptional. The resolution is much better on TV out viewer. Also, with videos ... try them on Touch Player

Guest lastnikita Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 well, if you find that youtube quality is enough to watch movies on a big tv, then you'll be good with omnia's tv-out, sure ;)
Guest Ingvarr Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 (edited) lastnikita has a point here. How can you see if movie on TV screen is of decent quality, if all you have is this youtube flick that is of horrible quality itself? ;) I think only Omnia-specific apps like TV out player and Touch Player can specifically utilize TV output to output higher res signal. Everything else will just be displayed "as is on screen", at 400x240 scaled max. Edited October 8, 2008 by Ingvarr

Guest FutureDirt Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 ok so i used touch player to play a movie last night.... MUCH BETTER! quality was certainly watchable. still a bit shoddy that anything other then touch player looks like ass
