Guest Michael122w Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 Is it possible to change the background and text color of the Samsung main menu (see below)? Would be nice if it was possible to make it black instead of white (and vice versa with the text) to create a all black theme ;) . You can change it by following the instructions in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=424349 Its not as simple as installing a cab, but it can be done.
Guest warnold007 Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 wow wow wow! i've been looking for this one... i hope we can get the ones for the main menu also! please anyone who have this in their rom, please share! ;)

Guest 1Mack Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 (edited) I cannot overwirte the original file ;) . I have SK Tools. Can anyone break this overwriting down for me? Edited October 2, 2008 by 1Mack
Guest PaSSoA Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 Actually, in \Windows\ there are secstresSilver96.dll and secstresBlack96.dll all I did was rename it to secstres96.dll on my PC and using Resco Explorer or TotalCmd copy it back to the device and reselect Samsung Today 2 in the Today items and its done, you can change the fonts colour under settings\theme. I also managed to change the background of the launcher from instructions at the thread in xda-dev. Only hope now is if there's a way to change the icon colours for the launcher. My "Space" theme Omnia I-900 ;)
Guest floriske.nl Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 (edited) @PaSSoa: I noticed your background image runs behind the taskbar in the programs and main menu, did you use the sizes as mentioned on XDA (240x374 and 400x214) or did you use images the size of the screen resolution 240x400? these are some of the png images hidden in the Launcher.exe.T1.skin file (extracted on a mac with filejuicer and made a screenshot of the generated HTML file) Maybe you can extract, edit (e.g. with photoshop) and replace them by using the 30 day trial version of resource tuner it supports png files as well: http://www.heaventools.com/resource-tuner.htm Edit: The program Icons are program dependent ofcourse, but with some creativity you might be able to change them as well ;-) Now all we need to know is how to change the damn font color Edited October 2, 2008 by floriske.nl

Guest Massive Attack Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 Now all we need to know is how to change the damn font color one way to take care of the font is putting some white shadow on the black text to make it more visible, but that would be tedious and would need photoshop.

Have a look below, oh, and you now owe me sleep  ... kidding... hey, how did you managed to change the main menu bar at the bottom to be semitransparent? Just a photoshop trick, overlay the image with the original bar and add opacity ;) Changed my clock and icons found @ xda-dev: Nighty night...
Guest Massive Attack Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 theres a nice black tsk from 200mpx from this thread. its not flat like flatblack. ;) heres a direct link.

Good to see you managed to change the icons! Adds another possibility of changing the standard looks of your omnia without installing SPB mobile Shell or any other! I gave up on changing the entire windows mobile Looks, was looking for a way to change everything to white text on a black background, including contactslist etc. but some colors that are changable within WM6 change multiple item colors, so real white on black isn't possible. Allready spent too much time in figuring out different possibilities and won't spend anymore  Just gonna stick to SPB mobile Shell with the Custom skin pack's Carbon Black theme and the basic Grey theme color for now.
Guest keithark Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 i installed the black theme , and it is not showing up on my phone anywhere! any ideas please
Guest Henry_i900 Posted October 4, 2008 Report Posted October 4, 2008 (edited) Hi, guys! I have HI1 and have changed all in Launcher.exe.T1.skin, but can't write it, the original is in the ROM, RescoExplorer says first that it's not sure(I say continue), then that "Cannot copy file Launcher.exe.T1.skin. The file already exist". Is there a way to do it????? Please, if you know, this white menu kill me!!! Edited October 4, 2008 by Henry_i900
Guest PaSSoA Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 Make sure you deactivate the today screen first by unticking it in the Today settings, then give it a go, resco also warned me about overwriting but I just confirm.

My today is clean, nothing is marked in Settings, I made soft reset, checked Task manager and made End all tasks, but all the time the same message "Cannot copy file Launcher.exe.T1.skin. The file already exist". I remade it with ResHacker one more time, because the first time it was 2616kB (the original about 1990kB), the new one is 1615kB. But anyway I can't copy it. I think this Launcher.exe.T1.skin is run from Launcher.exe, but there is no string in *.exe with link to *.skin . DO you have any idea? Edited October 5, 2008 by Henry_i900

What can be critical with some of these roote files is that you have to retain exactly the same size for them to be reloaded...It is a way of safe guarding against modification. Maybe wrong in this case but have found in some cases before....
Guest PaSSoA Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 Yup, but even then, if you're using resco or totalcmd, you should be able to overwrite files even if they are stored in the ROM. There'll just be a warning... not too sure why it doesn't work for you. Where did you store your modified Launcher.exe.T1.skin?

There'll just be a warning... not too sure why it doesn't work for you. Where did you store your modified Launcher.exe.T1.skin? I tried change some settings in Resco, but it doesn't give anything. I changed Launcher.exe.T1.skin, wrote it back to Omnia to /MyStorage/Henry (it's the Directory I use for my files), changed (marked) Hidden and System (to make it igual to original), because after ResHack the file is completely open, then copy it, go to MyDevice/Windows and try to Paste it with Menu or holding on screen. I tryed first delete original, I can't, I tryed change Properties of original, I can't, I tryed Copy new file with the same Properties (hidden, system) or unmarked them, Nothing. Tryed to use original File Explorer, it say that he can't copy. I will try the adwise of Motofone, to give the same size, the problem is that I changed Bitmaps and the new had the same size that originals, but output file was about 300kB more. It needs some work. Thank you a lot for your participation, maybe there are some settings in Resco that I haven't done?
Guest Henry_i900 Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 (edited) I did it!!!! With Totalcmd without any problem, without questions about if I am sure, without unmarking Today tabs, without thinking about size!!!!! Thanks!!!!!! If someone is interesting in result here it is (it's just my first expirience) Edited October 6, 2008 by Henry_i900

Guest Henry_i900 Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 (edited) Thank you. It’s really necessary to find the way to change the fonts, and back of settings and programs, and it will be great!!! I found the way to change the icons with ResHack. All you need, is (with Launcher.exe.T1.skin) Save [PNG] resources, it will give you a lot of files *.bin (for every icon 1 file of course), just change bin to png, and you can edit it (I did it with Firework), then save as png, and change (rename) png to bin. That’s all, then only Replace every old file with new one like Bitmaps and you have yours personal Icons. I didn’t do that only I didn’t have enough of time (and I like this standards icons), but it works, sure. I think it could be looking nice to put a text inside icon, with small image. This will not resolve the problem of fonts, but this way we can have white text on black ground. I will try later, I’m suck with painting so I need to find small icons first. 1Mack, it’s not difficult to make this changes, All you need is ResHack, it’s very very easy to use program, you will see all explain here (it’s link posted in this forum) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=424349 You made Save all Resources (or put the coursor on Bitmaps and you can save only Bitmap resourcers), then open the file, made what you want and in program you have option Replace, that’s all!!! I’ve just changed all images I found in Bitmaps, to have this black theme. You can do the same with png (icons). Then you save the file. I copy this file to phone, then with TotalCmd I change the properties (unmark Archive and mark ReadOnly, Sistem and Hidden), maybe it’s not necessary, but I do it. Yes, I experimented with different size of this file, it’s OK, no problem, the biggest I have is 2.5 MB and it’s going to ROM successfully. Then I copy it back to Windows directory with Totalcmd (I passed 2 days trying do that with Resco), other people copy it with Resco without problems, but I can’t. I copy it without any changing in Settings/Today, with TotalCmd it’s OK. Than just press your MainMenu, he will ask you about running unknown program, press yes, and see the result. I will try to change later the icons and see how does it look with text inside. Good luck!!!!! Edited October 7, 2008 by Henry_i900
Guest 1Mack Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 Henry_i900 How did you get the bar to shade that way when pressed? I am having problems with it. I am trying to go black and gray. Do you know where to find the icon font color?
