Guest shokaikel Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 Thanks to Paul and Requiem87 for that. Another notch up the WinMo learning curve! Is it worth me upgrading right out of the box? that way there's nothing to back up. I've yet to turn the phone on or even register it!

I understood from other posts that if one is using the XP updater .exe file on an XP machine, then only Active Sync and the Samsung modem driver were required? Thanks

Guest KingKoresh Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 Is it worth me upgrading right out of the box? that way there's nothing to back up. I've yet to turn the phone on or even register it! I did. I figured it was a clean phone with no extra stuff installed so probably less likely to go wrong. Plus if you do flash it and it goes belly up, you might be able to return it within the 14 day cooling off period (if you didn't buy it in a shop).
Guest nirvanax Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 (edited) hi i need one litle help can you please tell me how much time takes to finish update cause in the moment im updating the phone and says writing imge 1% and never goes to 2% strange or just normal_ thanks in advanced ok its done lol Edited October 15, 2008 by nirvanax

I've just seen a message on here from vincent21 who it sounds like had major problems and now regrets doing it on his own. How fail-safe is the process and is the phone recoverable if itgoes wrong? Kingkoresh you've been a great help so far!

Kingkoresh you've been a great help so far! You are welcome but I have only had my Omnia for a week tomorrow and its my first WinMo mobile, so I have to jump off any pedestal here. I have gained a lot by reading this forum for the last 3 weeks or so, so I thought its only fair to try and help out even its its just newbie questions - all of which I had at some point too! I admit I was VERY scared to flash it when I got it, especially after reading the problems other people had. I suggest you read the main thread on the ROM upgrading - Secany's thread - it is chock full of tips & tricks and ideas of what to do IF it goes wrong. Also, reading the thread will help you decide if its worth upgrading. Good luck, mate!

Guest agoesatoeb Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 just upgraded mu Omnia from DXHH3 to DXHJ1 no problem so far.. battrey power increasing significantly, in HH3 i must charge it every night, now for 2 day standby (some call and smses, music player, games) it still indicate 90% battrey.. really2 love it! camera, at start we have new interface to cancel GPS ON. speed, without other program, its responsive enough, but after installing some program, it become slower.. prosedure i use, just follow what samsung website said... just install samsung modem before.. i am satisfied with this DXHJ1 ROM, especially its batterey ability...
