...but to make it even easier

make the . reg file into .cab using "CeRegEdit" (freeware). works a treat and no need to install anything on your device and creating any bad registry entries

Wow so this just instals and changes my storage to my documents and can be easily uninstalled? Or am I missing something?

i have reflashed my rom and repeated the process and all my data on storage card was undamaged or unchanged, but the programs in program files are not recognized so just delete the program files folder if u r going to reflash and repeat the process

I've just installed the cab, but now a load of my programs don't work either. Do they all need to be installed again?

Also - my Samsung widget has gone! I can still select it in the Today Items menu, but the widgetbar tab appears for a split second then is gone. Help!

Hmmm, I see I can still start programs through My Documents/Programs/Program Name/Program, but this is a nuisance.

Must be a way to get it all working in SBP shell without reinstalling surely?

Heya..

I did what Steve_T said and it all worked kinda well. Reinstalled some apps and then it was going good.

Until i was going to write a sms... I can't even go into messages (nor inbox nor write a new) ...dosen't start. And i have SPB Diary on my today screen and the message-tab says that "There are no messages in selected accounts"

So first, does anyone know where SMSes are stored?

2nd.. Anyone else had this problem and solved it?

Btw, does the registry also go back to default upon a hard reset?

One for my documents and one for the extra storage..

So they each appear twice in notes program.

"open file" dialog (the version which scans for related files depending on extensions) will also list its files twice.

I also have this error message when opening a note which I believe is linked to the hack:

"could not create the voice link recording directory"

maybe I don't need this hack afterall..

To be honest, I uninstalled the CAB and it put things mostly back how they were before. Yes I had the same problem with messaging and a bunch of other stuff not working so I think if I try this again I will not use the cab file as it seems to change too much stuff perhaps?

Maybe if I single out specific bits of the registry changes you'll get the desired result without everything else changing as a result.

Not sure as it depends how everything links together in there but it could be worth trying. Personally though whilst the CAB file did what it was meant to, the aggro that came with it was unfortunately not worth it.

Hi just found a way to quickly repeat this process after a clean install, i did it on the M2OD fix 1 rom but im guessing it should work on most roms. Heres the steps I followed:

1 - Copy Reg File to Device! (I copied to external storage card)

2 - Install a reg editor! (I used Resco Explorer and Reg Add on)

3 - Rename My Documents to My Documents_old

4 - Open reg file with resco explorer and import to registry

5 - Soft reset Device

6 - Copy Folders from My Documents_Old to the new My Documents

7 - Delete My Documents_Old

Thats It! Dunno If this has been done before but I cant see it anywhere so there ya go for anyone who wants it!

Hi, I have the same problems as lastnikita - notes created twice, and error message of not being able to create voice link recording directory. Did anyone managed to find a solution for this?

I really like this hack, but as I use notes alot, these little bumps gets irritating after awhile. Would appreciate it if someone could help us out here. :rolleyes:

As the first user who publicisized this "hack" (not in this thread), I feel that I should address the concerns of the users who followed it: yes, it is correct, that the "My Notes" application does what you say; the reason is that the configuration for this application is not in the registry, but it is hard-coded in the programme. I use another application for taking notes, which offers all the advantages and none of the disadvtages. In my case, I feel that this setback in one application is worth the trouble, since the gain is a "centralized" approach to programme-installation. Many other applications which default to "My Documents" are now in the 8/16 Mb internal space. This is an advantage, I think!

I have been trying out several cooked ROM's, and I have always applied this "hack" to a clean installation; otherwise, the already installed programmes will not work properly. I also re-install "Office" from a "cab" file, since all ROM's I use are "clean" and "Office" is removed - this resolves the problem with the templates. Anyway, Microsoft Mobile Office is not the best, again... there are other, free applications, which can not only read/edit but also create Office compatible files.

I am not coming back to this thread for a while, so, if anyone needs additional information on this specific topic, you can contact me directly.

Can't we just create a 'My Document' folder in 'My Storage', i.e. \My Storage\My Document\, then rename current 'My Document' from root to something else. Copy '\My Storage\My Document\' and then paste its shortcut as My Document in the device root.. Just suggesting, this works in Windows XP, not sure if it will also work WM6.

ok i just got that messaging problem wiv qbus new rom, it is because mail attachments are now saved onto my storage but after this process my storage no longer exists so i went into registry and changed mail attachments save path from my storage/mail attachments to my documents/mail attachments and that fixed it for me

Hi all,

I am using ShokaV17 ROM, and i messed up every thing with that cab file.

Messaging is not working

Titanium is not working

Can't open Office files

and i don't know what else....

I have done the hard reset, and everything is back to normal... Actually was not expecting problem liek that at all....

I thing i can survive with less memory but all applications working.

I didn't mean to disrespect the creator of this trick, he has done a great job that samsung should have been doing but still a lot of works needs to done.

The .cab file worked fine, my storage changed to my documents, no with messeging or anything else.

The problem is, when I try snyc with my desktop my "sgh-i900 my documents" folder is completly empty. Before I've installed the cab file there where folders etc. What might be the problem?

I use xp sp3 and acticesync 4.5

if ur using the latest custom roms then dont use this solution it was developed nearly a year ago and the newer roms are totally different from the ones that were around back then.
