Guest ukzen Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 (edited) Apparently its not a UK update after all ,here is what SAMSUNG emailed me today Dear Mr Carl Weller Thank you for contacting Samsung Electronics. Customer Ref: 2100458185 In realtion to your email concerning the I900, please be aware that there is no firmware upgrade available at this time for this handset in the UK and the link you provided to us was not a link for a UK update. when this upgrade will be released in the UK. I did think it strange though that the UK bit of the address was not at the front i.e. uk.samsung ,also why its not mentioned on samsung .com or samsungmobile site how odd B) Edited November 19, 2008 by ukzen

This is clearly UK update (it will be kinda silly to let you clearly select country=UK otherwise), however it seem to be operator-tied. I think AC is Vodaphone UK and MS is an Orange UK (new one, original ones were XX)

Guest CanonKen Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 can somebody with a Vodafone device that hasn't been flashed tell us what your version number is? I can't get the new vodafone ROM to load due to my existing software. thanks Mine was ACHH1 and I have upgraded to this new version - no problems, took about 5 mins and its now ACHJ2

I think AC is Vodaphone UK and MS is an Orange UK (new one, original ones were XX) That is correct, this is definately a UK update. My unbranded Omnia from the UK repair centre waited specifically for this UK update to be releasedso that they could send me the phone with this update rather than just repair it with the same old version. The XX version refers to the original UK update for unbranded Omnia's. There's a version naming scheme topic somewhere in this forum which identifies this update as UK October 2008. Guest Flukester Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 got my phone back today after bricking it with bad flash... I had promised myself never to flash again but thought I'd go for this offical upgrade.. upgraded in vista, no modem drivers needed, worked flawlessly, well done samsung!
Guest Frankish Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 This is doing my head in lol. I have tried hex editing the updater file. Tried that code to change region and still doesn't work. I managed to go from T-Mob to HJ1 just want to get this newest one. But no go B)
Guest Frankish Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 What network are you on? Are there any noticable differences. Can any T-Mobile branded phone users let us know if they have updated successfully? Cheers I updated to DXHJ1. It debranded it so no more T-Mobile crap. Can't work this one though!
Guest assessor Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 Just updated firmware from MSHG1 to MSHJ1 and the phone is a lot more responsive. Small problem though. I'm using the Samsung widget today screen and tried the widgets to make sure they were all working but the status widget that shows network provider/phone off information is now stuck on the today page and can't be docked back onto the widget bar. In fact it can't be moved at all. I have tried a few soft resets but nothing seems to solve it. Anyone else have the same problem after updating?
Guest The Squonk Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 Tried again - several times. Seemed to work eventually, until the updater switched phone off and asked to restart the phone manually. Phone is dead! left on charger overnight but still dead, wont switch on at all. Is this now "bricked" ? What do I do now? ANY suggestion - be nice - would be very welcome at this sad time..... Adam Ended up going to nearest repair centre. May take up to 3 weeks!!!! to get back - ah well <_< for anyone else who needs help try http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/main/supportSupportMain.do for your nearest repair/support centre. Guest NikosR Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 Thank you bluey09, the registry change worked for me and I am now at MSHJ1. I am not sure what the improvement is. Does anyone have a log of changes?
Guest Magpie2000k Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 Guys I have a vodaphone branded omnia and cannot for the life of me do this. I had updated before and have tried the reg edit suggested and tried a number of different ones but just get incorrect version message Anyone have any ideas?????
Guest svilendotorg Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 My current version is i900DTHJ1, i've tried both the registry fix (do i have to soft-reset the phone?), and the region-configuration by entering the codes in the dial pad and choosing United Kingdom, but neither of them worked B) All i did was to loose my music and pictures from the internal storage when changed the region B) I even tried HEX-editing the updater - i900MSHJ1_updater_vista.exe
Guest daz306td Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 Vodafone users check this http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=11193

Guest Ingvarr Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 (edited) Yeah, sure, the whole website (with design more expensive than of whole samsung uk) was here for half a year "only for testing" B) It really funny how it becomes when local support starts to stubbornly insist on their point, obviously they wont admit simple internal miscommunication problem B) Edited November 20, 2008 by Ingvarr

Guest catretriever Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 Can anyone confirm any success upgrading a TMobile branded omnia? My current version is BOHH5 which isn't being accepted by the site here http://www.samsungmobile.com/support/omnia/index.jsp Tho' a quick look at the page source shows a redirection for BO versions to http://www.samsungmobile.com/promotion/omnia/uk/subBo_xp.jsp All very odd.
