UNLOCKING CDMA I910 GPS - please help us!

So, from what I gather, this BETA ROM gives an all-around performance boost, and unlocks the GPS to the point of usability, but the coordinates are still encrypted? (hence why Live! shows you in the middle of the ocean)

I'd like to see someone try the GPSGate program to see if it can decrypt the GPS coordinates and relay them properly to Live! at least, and then try google maps, MS streets, TT, etc.

Also, try GPSTest to see if there's any different there (Faster connection to sat's) I'd also like someone to try using GPSTest with the phone completely off (To ensure that it's not just aGPS)

As soon as I get home from work today I will be flashing this ROM and testing my heart out (I get home around 5PM EST) and will post my results, as well as keep an eye out for what you are all accomplishing!

did you try *228

I've tried everything I can think of, *228, both option 1 and 2, *22899. I've tried vzw as a password, blank as a password. I even tried vzw as hex as a password, none worked. It does look like the data in my EVDO data plan settings using PST had changed though. If someone could send me their backed up MMC, I could look at that to figure out what is different.

I'm at work right now, so I can't test this, but a thread at XDA may have a solution.

People that are having issues calling / data.. Remember to do a hard reset before flashing (just to be safe). Then after flashing, you need to dial *228, option 2 to reprogram your phones, just like when you do a normal hard reset. Otherwise you won't be able to connect to data or make calls.

Let me know if this fixes the issue, since I haven't flashed yet and want to be sure before I do!

How would I back this up / find it for you?

Nope, I can make normal calls. If you use the Samsung PST, and the i910 dll, it's in the 'Settings' area of the program.

Thanks AznTegra. Hopefully someone can do this for you really quick. Otherwise I will as soon as I get home from work.

While you're waiting, want to play around with GPSTest / GPSServer?

Im at work now. I have done all this. A few poeple were in a tizzy as they were trygn to get a hold of me and I wasnt picking up. I tried to dial out and I get a verizon message saying they cant authenticate my phone and th cal never goes out. WIll check out that thread now and see what I come up with.

Edit: Grr, looks like I need my old phone to do what they are doing in that link. It is at home. Guess I will run home at lunch if not fixed by then.

I did not have to do anything after the update. Phone and data worked just fine.

To all those with data still, did you check "update phone bootloader" and "Initialize phone"

Reading over at the other post about the new ROM update here most people just followed the PDF guide to the letter and had no problems. Can you try re-flashing?

When I get home I'll try to do an original ROM dump if I can.

What did you use?

FYI, im having the same issue you are. The first time I did not check those. I noticed while flashing that I did not. After it got done I rebooted phone and flashed again with those boxes checked. I do not know if it was wokring in between when I did not check those boxes.

I'm back! As for the bootloader and initialize phone, if you look at the pdf it's not checked, and I did not check mine either. I did exactly as the instructions told me.

As for why your phone is not working, let me help you out.

I need to know what it can do.

Let's start with this steps:

Can you call anyone, your house phone, etc?

Can you connect to the internet?

Please let me know, I want to help you out.

I used the UDML_Omnia, but the first time I didn't check "phone bootloader" and "phone initialization". So I flashed it again, with just phone checked so could update the phone part too.

I have re-flashed it a few times, but I'm at work right now so I can't test that.

Yeah, everything works fine. I'll try to call out, and call in, in a bit, but as of last night it all worked fine. The only problem is I get a wrong username and password when trying to connect to the internet.
