I flashed with those two options unchecked, if you check them it seems that you need to manually do some other steps or call verizon.. But i have no prob with it..

So you need to have the options "Phone Bootloader" and the other one checked to get GPS to unlock? When I flashed my phone, the consensus was that those two settings should NOT be checked. Is this why my GPS is not working? For those that have GPS working, did you check those two options when flashing?

Yes, those options are what flash the radio rom... Hence the GPS settings... Just reflash but be warned you won't be able to make calls or connect with data afterwards. Took Verizon an hour to get me going again. The phone portion was fixed quickly, but the data part took time. Better to do an ESN swap with another Smartphone (if you have one) and wait an hour then switch it back. That worked for another person in here.

I have flashed my phone using the PDF instructions and everything went smoothly with no problems. I have been UNABLE to get the gps working though. I have location set to "ON" in the phone settings and have reset my phone numerous times. Google maps will not find my location. Neither will Live maps. I got the disclaimer about third party apps being able to locate me after my first reset. I have tried setting "Managed by windows" and "COM8 57600" settings in Google maps. When I set "Managed by Windows", it saysw seekign satellites, but never gets a lock. When set to COM8, it tries to find the hardware but then gives me an error that GPS hardware was not found. How are you guys getting it to work. Do I have to have VZNav installed?

key5000: The "Location On" setting can be found at: Start>Settings>Phone>"Services" tab>GPS>"Change Setting"

I'm in the same boat... but... interestingly... every once in a while I'll get one satellite (full-strength signal bar) locked in Garmin Mobile XT, then it disappears, the I get "Searching for GPS device", then "Acquiring Satellites"... then nada. :-(

** UPDATE **

Went outside for 10 minutes... I eventually got a satellite lock! YES!!

about to flash on windows 7.

couldnt i simply set the device as mass storage and run it?

i know i read that somewhere...

edit forget it im diving in! :excl:

I got mine to go just fine on Windows 7 Build 7000. All I did was connect the cable, let it DL WDMC and it automaticly installed the drivers via Windows update. Then just followed the PDF from there...

What is the actual method to get GPS to work? I got it to flash already. Phone is set to Location ON, still no dice with Google.

Are you inside? If yes, then try outside. Mine did not work on the first try from inside.

Where are you all getting igo8 for the omnia?

Also, is there a program that does not need net? Don't have net working on Metro yet.

I'm back from work and happier than ever.

I was actually going to announce that the gps does work, but it looks like a few found out for themselves.

What a little world it is today.

I still remember the hard time we gave that savior of mankind for us vzw omnia owners and to think that the very same firmware that verizon is testing has a working gps!!

I can't be any happier.

BTW, mine works with manage with windows. Now to figure out rom cooking!

Switched to my Moto Q9M's ESN, activated, waited 5 mins, and switched back (you dont need to wait an hr, lol. Once the VZW website shows your other phone, its safe to switch back)

Ok i HAD to go for a drive to try the nav program, it does work, I drove around my neighborhood and I get sat signal here from my living room too.. I did put the phone in flight mode, and then it did not work so what we are seeing is Agps, but its a step in the right direction, ultimately i would like to be able to use this anywhere regardless of phone signal. has anyone had any luck with that? Someone asked if i checked the bootoader option, I did not. I followed the pdf instructions.

It's working with almost no problems for me...there are slight stability issues, my google maps made me send 3 reports, and poutlook.exe had me send one, but that is expected for a beta...when verizon finally releases the stable version, that won't be an issue, but this rom WILL NOT brick your phone if you follow the instructions in the .pdf file to the letter. Calling and data are not an issue unless you mess something up. But overall, the programs run like they are supposed to, speed is up from previous version, and gps is unlocked...major stuff fixed.

yep! and fyi, send those map reports to navteq is there is discrepancy in the area that you live whenever you nav. navteq distributes their map info to a lot of outlets, like garmin( to name one).

I just got an email for them due to a similar road misname and they are adding this to their list of releases, I need to hurry up and drive some more.

Also, make sure that you write those coordinates unless you have trip tracking and your gps apps remembers coordinates.
