Guest Omega Ra Posted April 15, 2009 Report Posted April 15, 2009 At the end of the day: 55%, so a 25% battery drop, which is normal for my day without using BAF GPS Toggle :excl: Result; minimal battery drain :excl: But the question is, did you use it the normal amount that you usually would (ie texting, etc.) because if you used it less than normal, but same battery drop, then that means increase battery drain when you use it like normal.
Guest rosenhauer Posted April 15, 2009 Report Posted April 15, 2009 I have been running baf toggle for a couple of days now and have seen no change in battery life as i surf the net use wifi router and listen to fm radio the battery has always seem to last me about 10-12 hrs. I have checked the gps toggles power consumption with an app i got off omnia hub that show you your battery consumption for each running program. this is supprisingly very low power usage. other programs as radio and even messaging uses more power than gps toggle What program shows the consumption? I've been looking for something like that.
Guest thericksonebay Posted April 15, 2009 Report Posted April 15, 2009 I think this it the app that lets you see power usage for each running program. sktools at omniahubdotcom omnia hub sktools

Guest necosino Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 For my test I used my phone just as I normally would during the day, occasionally texting, surfing web, checking email, etc.
Guest vpw100 Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 For those of us that found this post after finding the new roms on another post first, can someone post a working verizon ROM that i can use to take my phone back to factory settings (along with a way to upload the new rom - it is getting close to christmas, so hopefully it won't hurt to ask)? bwonish, have you found an orignal working verizon rom to go back to facotry, if so where? thanks
Guest mnhandball Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 bwonish, have you found an orignal working verizon rom to go back to facotry, if so where? thanks I am a newbe so forgive me if I ask a simple question. I've read the thread and am unsure why the talk about the Samsung i9x0 pops up for my Verizon Blackberry 8330 phone search. I am interested in unlocking the GPS so I can utilize some developing apps for golf range finders. The ones I've tried (FreeCaddie and TeeDroid Caddy) cannot find the GPS on my phone. A fellow golfer suggested I try this forum. Can someone explain to me exactly what in this thread applies to my phone?

This is a thread of a forum specific to Samsung i910 Omnia Windows Mobile phones. You will need to go to a Blackberry specific phone forum. Try howardforums.com as a start. Google will help. Hopefully someone else will have some better suggestions. Ted Edit: 98,400 hits searching for "forums Blackberry GPS unlock Verizon". Edited April 16, 2009 by xPosTech

Guest DeepBlueEditor Posted April 17, 2009 Report Posted April 17, 2009 (edited) I always seem to go one step too far and blow things up. Somehow in poking around the windows directory and trying to figure out how to link to the BAF dll file I blowed it up. No GPS lock any more so, backup the card again (internal and external) SPB Backup for contacts and email info and blast it again. Learning things along the way but flashing always makes me nervous. power outages, line voltage issues, bad cables... Trying it all again but will do the hard reset thing this time before the flash. I was wondering, on a restore, like SPB, if you replace one registry with another, might you not be missing something that was added to the new reg settings that come with the new ROM, or vice versa? I didn't do a hard reset the first time before the flash. After the flash, I went with the new system and manually reconfigured everything but if I would have used my SPB backup file and restored system settings, would that have overwritten the newer reg file from the new ROM with a eg file from the old ROM when I saved it as a BU? The reason I ask is, if I swap or overwrite the new ROMs reg file, I might end up loosing a tweak the engineering team did on it to get it working in the new ROM. Anyone want to comment? Guest krelvinaz Posted April 17, 2009 Report Posted April 17, 2009 Why are you doing a flash again?? Just do a hard reset and you will be back to where you were when you flashed it the first time.

That was what I thought to but when that didn't work I figured what the heck, just wipe the whole thing clean by flashing. Anyway, even the flash didn't help. I now get no sats in Google Maps with or without Latitude and the BAF does nothing as well. Actualy, it says 0 then 10 then 0 repeating but no signal bars. Very odd that the reflash wouldn't have worked at all. Someone mentioned there was a new googl eMaps out. What version is everyone using as I did try reinstalling from the web site direct. Wondering if it might be a broken new version that has somehow corrupted needed GPS files or something. I had it all great earlier so I know how to follow all the directions. Just a mystery I suppose. I also noticed that if I stop and start Google, every other attempt it seems to hang for a while while trying to start the GPS hardware. This is without running BAF in the background. Alternate starts it just seeks then gives up. If I tell it retry it hangs for a while on starting hardware again. Darned odd. S. Guest thericksonebay Posted April 17, 2009 Report Posted April 17, 2009 this may be a no brainer but when you reflashed did you go and turn the gps to location on and then do a softreset
Guest DeepBlueEditor Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 (edited) this may be a no brainer but when you reflashed did you go and turn the gps to location on and then do a softreset To recap, it had been failing to lock all day yesterday. I reflashed last night because it wasn't locking up at all and BAF was giving me a little box with a yellow X in it, bouncing between 1 and 10 sats but not giving a meter indication of strength or whatever the meter does. It worked fine until (I think this was my mistake) I tried linking to the BAF dll file. That's when I noticed it quit working well. So I flashed last night after backing up again. After the flash (my 2nd without a hitch) it still didn't work. I gave up and went to bed figuring it would only be a short time till the official ROM anyway so no big deal, it was fun while it lasted. Got up this morning and within 2 minutes it found 4 sats. Go figure. didn't leave BAF on as I hadn't reinstalled it. I was begining to wonder if installing VZNav installed some hidden goody as I had installed it before but not used it. So anyway, today I went to Burr Oak State Park in South Eastern Ohio and it worked just fine all day. made a few favorites and such. Not sure what the issue was but it's back. Likely something I had done. Anyway, only a few weeks till we all get to do this again huh? Still happy and making little changes like killing the popup dialer lock in calls, changing to the black dialer, widening the scoll bars... S. Edited April 18, 2009 by DeepBlueEditor
Guest wingnut_2u Posted April 19, 2009 Report Posted April 19, 2009 come on people! crying out loud. I have just bricked my firsts phone and I have 10 years of flashing and hacking phones under my belt. Accept the gift horse of the beta release and deal with it. Encryption is a bi**h and to reverse engineer without the source it a nice day in hell. The only thing you need is the files to communicate with the gps radio (not inncluding the AGPS, look it up!). Agps dose no good when you are out of tower range ad it is for quick "LOCATION" anyway. I just got my new phone and it has GPS configuration, without the reg hack and it got a lock on 2 satellites before it reported weak signal. Obviously VWS is working on the unlock firmware. I am no paid through the daily grind programmer but I can hold my own and veri$on is unlocking the rom just like the unnamed job sacrificing soul has stated with the release of the leaked rom! SOOOOOO either be happy with what you have or wait for the “Official” factory smurf release. Have fun in the Kitchen for all the others….this has been a nice sand baggi’n thread. Peace love out

Guest Case-1 Posted April 21, 2009 Report Posted April 21, 2009 anyone think it is more than a coincidence that the rom update from verizon has the same release date as the possible release of windows mobile 6.5? maybe the real rom will include win 6.5? -Casey

Guest wingnut_2u Posted April 21, 2009 Report Posted April 21, 2009 yes I did. The rom is still Bj28 but the media hex sarts with A100000 instead of A0000001 and the build is 20276.1.3.3 I have a dice game, gps settings icon for the external and the speed is hella fast from my other phone. I also noticed that when I load programs off of the sd they don't crash on a reboot. My GPS sometimes grabs a max of 2 sats just befor it stops trying. My GPS test also shows two. What I am thinking is that vw is relaxing the encryption on the agps side or something. This topic is out of my knowledge. I have tried to disconnect the phone radio and the gps no longer is recognized. I use my phone for business and can not afford to brick another. I would really like to flash it again but I think the corporate store will do the flashing next time. J after all the omnia isn’t one of those $100 jobers. I am willing to try the new radio files extracted from the new rom in question when I have time. The files on my new phone are different sizes then the old one and the new rom…go figure? I have not given up.
