Did you have antishake on?

I thought I did, but now that I double checked my settings, I noticed it was indeed off. For the night shot, I tried a couple shots auto mode and a couple night, and couldn't get rid of the blur coming out of the windows. Maybe next time, I'll give the fireworks mode a shot and see what happens. Well, that and try again with anti-shake ON! B)

Firstly, sorry for my poor english. When you will do a photo very near of the object. Try to use the macro option. This option doesn't active the max flash.

Regards

Thanks for the tip. I'll give this a try later on today and post the results up here.

@choiyun

With all honesty,my posted pictures

were really taken from my omnia,i'm the

thread starter so if I've been posting

non-omnia pics

I'm just making a fool of

myself... which make no sense

The trick is experiment with the camera's setting:

-if you want more vibrant colors adjust the

saturation

-if you want more detail adjust the sharpnesss

-if you want to intensify or soften shades adjust

the contrast

-if light is not enough adjust brightness

-if your hand is shaky activate anti-shake

-Wait the camera to have a focus before

taking a shot

-Wipe lens free of dirt and finger marks

-Dont take pictures against the light source

When using flash, dont directly shot on a reflective

surface (even white surfaces and nearby

objects reflect light to the lens).

Angle correctly.

Now here's the trick to avoid those "white wash-out" pictures when using the flash on taking photos with a close

range

If your taking a close up pic of an object in the dark

Here are the settings:

Focus:On

ISO:50

Sharpness: Default or +1

Brightness: Default or +1

ISO sets the amount of light exposure, by lessening it's light sensitivity (adjusting it to 50) "white wash effect" is avoided. For

some reasons the auto setting in the ISO doesn't lower the value to 50 when taking pics at close range resulting from pics with over saturated light (white wash)

.

and im not from the Carribean lol

thnx for the tips.

i think wdr should never be on, it gives this unnatural bright glow over the picture... if you decide to shoot in the dark use the scn settings like dusk/dawn or night shot. this automatically adjusts iso values and flash on/off and gives good result for the specified occasions.

so i always shoot with default brightness (middle), focus on, wdr off, antishake on and auto flash.

then i choose a scn and maybe macro settings accordingly. i think this is the way to go to get nice pics.

i have question though, where can you adjust saturation? am i just missing something here? B)

as soon as i've made a pic that i think can compete with the ones posted here, i will upload it B)

Here's a sample. The watch was taken in a pitch dark setting in close range with flash and the settings above:

Now here's with Auto Settings (white wash)

Tip:

If taking pictures in pitch dark places (not close range) set ISO to 800 and enable flash. Resulting pic will be more illuminated

Tip

Turn the WDR(Wide Dynamic Range) on when taking photographs inside a room where bright lights enter the the windows or doorways or when taking photos where the subject is against the light source. Enabling this option will filter some intense light coming from these light sources thus making the subject more visible even against intense back lighting.

Also useful in taking pictures in the dark with the flash. It evens out the illumination.
