Guest sztupy Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 Am using the 0.9 ROMbot to add update NetCE to 3.5 with the standard HL2 ROM files and then Build the ROM with the kitchen. The "update Net CE to 3.5" is the only item I have checked. The script runs, correctly I think, and does not produce any warnings. However when I try and build the ROM I get an error - data exception. The error at the bottom of the BuildOS window is: Error, last status: "Processing: SYS\NETCFv35 ... Searching for dsm file" Can someone suggest where I have gone wrong or how to proceed. Am sure I am not the only person to try and do this particular update. Many thanks. What did you use to extract the ZIP file? maybe it didn't got the hidden files out.

Thanks for reply - please can you clarify that you mean the 0.9 ROMbot file? I use WinRAR by the way. Are there some particular files I should check to make sure they are there? Edit: Downloaded 0.9 with task pack 2 from your website and tried it all again with another clean kitchen and got the same error... Very frustrating! Am confident all the files were extracted correctly. Have used WinRAR for a long time with no problems before. Edited January 8, 2009 by pda512

But your netce35 should look like this one: And there should be a log file somewhere in the (your kitchen root)\temp directory (log.txt maybe). Please send the last few lines to me. Thanks.

Guest pda512 Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 yes, I mean my app. Check the _files\Update .NET to 3.5 directory, or the (kitchen root)\SYS\netce35 directory (or something similar) Yes, the NET 3.5 files look the same but at the moment cannot find any trace of a log file... Not sure what to do next.
Guest sztupy Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 (edited) Yes, the NET 3.5 files look the same but at the moment cannot find any trace of a log file... Not sure what to do next. Try with a fresh kitchen and/or run BuildOs again, maybe it puts the log file in the temp this time. Or try check that directory while BuildOs is working... Didn't get any extraction error when you used Extractrom_exe did you? And which rom are you using? base DXHL2/DZHL2? Edited January 8, 2009 by sztupy

I have tried all this more than once. Am using Extractrom_bin as it is a PDA.bin file with the base secany DZHL2 rom (25 Dec 08) I am using. How would I capture the extraction log? There are various things in it but I think they are all ok. Still no log file from BuildOS that I can find???? Have you built a new DZHL2 rom with NetCE3.5 - I imagine you have though. I am stumped.
Guest efjay Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 sztupy, will your tool work with the latest L3 rom or does it need an update? I want to strip everything out of it and just use the base OS with a few apps.

Guest sector Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 just cooked my HL3, HL5 clean rom !! thanks to sztupy and shokka9 woohoo if u want i can upload!
Guest sztupy Posted January 9, 2009 Report Posted January 9, 2009 I'm sure 95% of the tasks should work fine on HL3 too, the quiestion is, that were there new files added or not (for the widgets for exmaple). Didn't try HL3 out yet, so can't say anything. Will upload a new version to play with, but still having problems with 20757 tasks. In the "a" kitchen everything works great, if I cook a ROM I have no problems (apart from the finger mouse, and don't know anything about the bluetooth headsets). But if I try to replicate that "a" kitchen with a task no matter what I do I always get a buggy ROM (no themes, no operator settings, etc.). Just can't find out what the matter is. I made an MD5 hash to check the differences between the "a" and "b" kitchen, but they're equal...
Guest sztupy Posted January 9, 2009 Report Posted January 9, 2009 Oh, just seen IA1 will be avaialable today, gonna skip HL3 I think

Guest usbprog1 Posted January 9, 2009 Report Posted January 9, 2009 Hello Guys, Is there a support for mutations in XML format like “Startmenü”? Best regards Robert
Guest sztupy Posted January 9, 2009 Report Posted January 9, 2009 Hello Guys, Is there a support for mutations in XML format like “Startmenü”? Best regards Robert You can use regular expressions: "[sS]tart *[Mm]en.*"
Guest sztupy Posted January 9, 2009 Report Posted January 9, 2009 (edited) Here I provide you with 20757 and 954 SYS and XIP files. They are like tasks, but DO NOT USE THESE TASKS USING SYAKR, THEY ARE DEFECTIVE! Use this install instruction here (they do the same as SYAKR does, but still they're wrong, so you have to manually do them. I don't know why this is, but if you happen to find out, then please tell me  ): Install instructions: Because these tasks don't work, you have to do them manually. Here's how: To copy files/directories use TOTAL COMMANDER (or similar. Don't forget to enable "show hidden/system files" in TCMD config). Do not try to copy files/directories with Windows Explorer. XIP udpate: 1. The tasks should work, but installing manually will be better 2. Delete the ROM directory 3. Copy the ROM directory fro mthe task's data dir to the kitchen root. 4. Copy the XIP.bin to the kitchen root. 5. Run shell.cmd 6. Enter: osnbtool -c os.nb 1 xip.bin 7. Rename os.nb.new to os.nb 8. Continue as usual. SYS update: 1. The tasks DON'T WORK. They will create a defective system, with the errors listed at the end of this instructions guide 2. Delete eveything from the SYS directory EXCEPT .ROM and .VM 3. Copy everything from the tasks SYS directory to the kitchen root EXCEPT .ROM and .VM 4. Delete all files in OEM_DPI_96, OEMMISC. don't delete the directory, just the files in them 5. Delete all files from OEM_Lang_0409 EXCEPT initflashfiles.dat 6. Delete the kbdmouse.dll directory in OEMDrivers (delete the whole directory) 7. Copy all files from the tasks directory into the appropriate directories (everything from OEMMISC should go in the OEMMISC directory, etc.). Copy the kbdmouse.dll directory into OEMDrivers 8. Continue as usual. You may use SYAKR after this is done of course. HOW TO CHECK WHETHER YOUR ROM IS FINE. You can check whether the ROM is defective with a simple check: - After the calibration at first boot the NEXT and SKIP buttons shoulg be ORANGE and not GRAY. If they are GRAY your ROM is defective, and will produce the following errors: - can't change themes - can't change operator settings - some other similar errors If you have an orange SKIP and NEXT button, then you'll be fine, don't worry. One more thing: - If you delete some files from the SYS using a task (like Office, OneNote, etc.) your bluetooth might dissapear. If your bluetooth dissapears (check Wireless Manager whether you have BT or not), then you have to put back the deleted apps to the SYS dir. I don't know which task makes BT dissapear, but If you find it out please tell me. DL link: http://winmo.sztupy.hu/syakr.html Both 954 and 757 SYS seems to be fine for me, if you use theese instructions, but 20757 WILL be more stable, because 20954 uses the english language files from 20757 (the latest english version I could find) and a mixed system will contain more hidden bugs, than a non-mixed system. 20757 is non-mixed, don't worry :) If you use a XIP use a SYS file that has a version greater or equal than the SYS's version, but I prefer using the same. They're just ment that way. And please someone test the bluetooth headset part! Edited January 9, 2009 by sztupy

Yep, thought about that, but first it needs some more hacks, AND I want to add everything from the FavSettings 2nd page to work. It still lags while scrolling, have to solve that issue too. I need icons. Lot's of them :(
