Guest TootsieRoll Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 I live in the USA , should I upgrade or wait for a local official ROM ? Also im a noob, what ROM is the best right now which supports the most speed and reliability, features arent as important? I live in the US too and DXHK3 is the best you can get. There is no local version for Omnia i900. Omnia i910 or i907 (can't remember which) is with Verizon and will not work. In fact it will brick your phone. So choose Phillipines when selecting country to upgrade on Samsung website. Hope that helped

You will risk bricking your phone and it won't get replaced (applying unsupported ROMs voids the warranty).

While he was working on that I asked him about all the new ROMs for the i900. He told me NOT to mess with mine or I am responsible for its demise. He said that he expects the first one for Verizon in about 3 weeks. He said that there are a lot of people who have called in already and said that the touch screen is not as smooth or responsive as they thought it would be. He said that he "heard" that there were some tweaks to make the battery life a smidge better too. He said no one is asking about widgets and such, but there should be something soon. I don't know if it is truly credible, but he did offer that to me today. Fingers crossed!
Guest VampirePh Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 (edited) I can't seem to install this latest firmware DXHK3 over my current DXHJ1. after validation it saids that the firmware has already been installed. the exact pop-up message was: "the device already contains the latest firmware." can anybody help me? I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate, and the latest Active Sync, and Windows Mobile Device Center. Edited January 6, 2009 by VampirePh

I'm more interested in the GPS getting unlocked than anything else.

And what are you talking about unlocked GPS? My GPS is running well. Why is your GPS locked?

The Verizon i910 has the GPS locked down to their software VZNavigator crap. We're waiting for them to release a ROM update that will unlock it.
Guest arniep Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 Under my ROM version it says V.BJ28.2027 Is this the latest one for Verizon?
Guest Echew Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 Is this the latest one for Verizon? As my post indicated earlier, there is NO update for Verizon yet. If you download the ROMs that on that site now, you will cook your phone. Wait until you see something announcing a Verizon update... Should be soon I hear...
Guest thechap Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 Hello All I'm new and clueless, I don't mind admitting. Therefore you'll understand why I'm screaming and shouting at my computer. I'm entering my Omnia version on that Samsung update site as BOHH5 - because that's my Omnia version. However, Samsung come back with 'The version you have entered is incorrect'. I want to update my version as the phone keeps locking up and freezing, with no response at all from any buttons. Just a black screen. The battery life is also pathetic. Am I right to scream and shout or am I making a basic mistake? Also, my phone is T-Mobile branded. If I update my version will it still be so branded and will I lose software like 'Web 'n Walk'? Regards thechap
Guest sasha00 Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 Hi, I am new to the forum as well as using Omnia. This is my first Touch Phone. I love it so far. Can anyone tell me or point me in the right direction regarding ROM and ROM upgrade. I have - PDA DXHH3 - Phone - DXHH3 What is the next version to go? I am not too sure where the phone is from but I am using it in North America. Any help would really be appreciated.
Guest guybw Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 I've just got a T-Mobile branded UK Omnia (BOHH5) I'm disappointed Tomtom doesn't work.... I did once but that’s it... I've tried Igo and its ok... takes some getting used to after Tomtom for a few years. I know I could use gpsgate but it costs........ Is there any news on updates from T-Mobile or Samsung?

I went from HJ1(which was also good) to HK3 and noticed the battery life is just as good. Everything seems stable so far. I started with HG1(came with the phone) and it was horrible.
Guest memorrhagic Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 (edited) I agree, my omnia seems much more stable and faster now with a longer battery life. I had a small issue with not being able to connect to secured wifi connections, but I was able to fix that with a small registry edit. i also had this same problem after flashing.. and as you mentioned above, psl tell me how to do that 'small registry edit'? i had to click 'connect' on the wifi setting page continuously to make it work (HJ1 also had this problem but not this bad) and also with HK3, it seems that my gps doesnt work.. not even seeking. i use gpstoggle and gpsplex help please.. anyone. Guest Ferrete Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 Hi guys, I'v got my I900 branded by the TMN Portuguese operator, with the original BBHG6 ... the official available version to my language is the HJ2. Could you enlighten about the radio version... will it be updated? Can i use my Omnia with other operators? Regards
Guest momok Posted January 12, 2009 Report Posted January 12, 2009 Hi, not sure if anyone else has this problem. After i upgraded, i realised that all my text messages in the inbox do not have time stamps on them, only date stamps. This is extremely frustrating because my messages are not organised properly if i need to find a particular message. Any one knows how to work this out?
Guest Tulius Posted January 12, 2009 Report Posted January 12, 2009 Try DXHK3. I went from HJ1(which was also good) to HK3 and noticed the battery life is just as good. Everything seems stable so far. I started with HG1(came with the phone) and it was horrible. Well, I have the same DXHH3, so I should download always the one starting with DX I think. Choose Indonesia and Philipines and both gave me the latest one. Do we have to follow the steps and that is all? Backup with active sync, execute the big exe and wait and then restore? Don't know why there are many guides to update using different apps on the web, if the Samsung tool does it the same.
Guest St.James Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 (edited) I agree, my omnia seems much more stable and faster now with a longer battery life. I had a small issue with not being able to connect to secured wifi connections, but I was able to fix that with a small registry edit. I've actually found that the touchscreen has become less accurate. The battery life is better and I need to check my phone sound settings because the headset is really loud now. But I am actually having an issue connecting to the internet through the wifi now (not using gprs). Very aggravating. Can you post those registery settings and I'll see if that helps. TIA. OH, and my Bluetooth headset no longer wants to connect 1/2 the time with a fresh battery. seriously considering the HL3 cook. Edited January 18, 2009 by St.James
Guest grypenigma Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 HI all, After using this rom for 2 weeks, i still prefer using the J1 rom as i feel it is much more stable. Anyway i could reinstall back the J1 rom? When i try to reinstall the J1, "your phone has the latest firmware" pops up. Any one can help? Thanks!

Hi grypenigma, you'd probably need a registry editor and change rom version to a version before the J1. If you havent figured out by now : )
Guest qwerty765 Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 Coming from DXHH3 to DXHK3, I noticed my battery life improved tremendously. My battery used to last for less than a day, but now I can use my phone for 3 days straight without charging. Flick scrolling has improved also, whereas before it's really annoying since applications tend to open up everytime I flick the screen to scroll. However, some of the applications installed were lost after the upgrade. Is this normal?
