New Nordic XBHL1 ROM here

Seems like Samsung has moved this ROM from official site few days ago, but I grabbed this link just in time. I am sure Samsung will fix this issue in the future. In the meantime, here is NEW Nordic ROM XBHL1. This is official ROM directly from Samsung, it is public (I presume it is allowed to be posted elsewhere). No changes have been made by me or anybody whatsoever.

Few things I have noticed:

1. Install is smooth, no problems for me (upgraded from XBHJ2/XBHJ1)

2. It is PDA updater (PHONE stays the same after upgrade)

3. Only "My Device" is formatted, so "My Storage" and "Storage Card" stays intact (great!)

3. It is one way straight smooth install in Vista, no drivers needed, just Windows Mobile Device Center.

4. After reboot of the phone, it asks you for language for the operating system (great for Nordic users), i.e. English, Danish, Swedish or Norway. I chose English (since I am not Nordic ;-) ).

5. Overall, no problems!

My impressions on system stability etc:

1. GPS locking is faster without "Enhanced GPS"(worth upgrading to this ROM for sure)

2. XTRA Data Download is much much smaller.

3. System stability is ok, no problems noted.

4. No problems with screen sensitivity, responsiveness or any other problems at all! (that is what is expected from new ROM, isn't it?). Maybe is just a bit faster from previous ROM.

5. Storage: Total (73.66MB) Free (about 40MB, don't remember exact data) after first boot.

6. Program: Total (97.27MB) Free (61MB) after first boot.

7. Free storage is reduced for about 20MB, but it is not an issue, just install programs on storage card, GPS faster locking is worth the upgrade.

8. No problems with camera etc (no improvements for me either)

9. Battery lifetime is just the same as previous ROM for me (3-4 days of moderate use)

10. No new programs, widgets etc (as described in new DX and DZ ROMs), seems like european ROMs are much "calmer" ROMs, for me it is a plus (it is a professional phone, I am not thrilled with widgets stuff etc).

Thank you for your time reading, so... Here are The Links:

http://fus.samsungmobile.com/omnia/NE/XEE/...dater_vista.exe (149MB)

http://fus.samsungmobile.com/omnia/NE/XEE/..._updater_xp.exe (106MB)

Hope to hear from you soon.

Cheers!

p.s. this is to all users like me, who could't upgrade their Nordic ROMs with DX and DZ ROMs using many tweaks mentioned here before. Thanks.

Was there an option for finnish ui language?

I can't remember for sure, but I think it may be the case, since Finland is Nordic, right? Or I am wrong? Anyway, you have nothing to lose, English is always an option.

Yeah Finland is part of Nordics. My current rom is XBHJ2/XBHJ1 so it's nordic also. I'm still not sure about updating the rom. Because when I bought my omnia, I had to install the finnish language from the memory card which came with the phone. So maybe this rom doesn't include finnish and it needs to be installed from a separate file as it was the case with my original rom. Could someone who install this rom look if there is an option for finnish language. I have never updatet my rom before so I want to make this work the first time.

PS. I'm good at english but I still prefer finnish.

Testasin päivittelyä DX-rommista tähän ja kyllä tästä löytyy suomi. Kielivalinta tulee heti ensimmäisenä. Kuten ekassa postauksessa lukee niin päivittää tosiaan vain PDA-osion.

-> Yes, it does have Finnish language.

Now when I'm trying to update the rom there is a window which tells me to install windows mobile device center first. I have it already installed but it still complains. Does anyone have solution. And yes, I've tried to install it again.

Hi Thats great,

Could you help me if possible, originally i got XBHl1 rom installed and I changed to some diffrent ROM (i found them on forum). Know I want to change back to either XBhL1 or the latest you are mentioning.

Do you know how and where I can get the older version from because when I am trying to update, I got a wrong version message.

Now I have DXHH3 installed.
