unlocking spv for applications

Right! I have tried again three times this am and the same problem. (By the way I can't get the ctrl A to work? I still get the overwrite box) As soon as sync says connecting, it allows me to copy over the altered files then nothing happens for a few seconds. Then everything happens almost at once. The box for download sticks on the screen and hangs waiting for connection proper, then when it connects I have to wait a few seconds before the box comes up to say do you want to overwrite?, which of course is too late. Bt then active sync is trying to set up a new connection.

I'm on another PC now and for this PC the paste all only seems to work when using Ctrl+V for the paste command, (release both keys) and then press A on its own to select all.

For some reason, my PC at home wasn't complaing about the Ctrl key being pressed with A. It still happily pasted all - never mind...

Note: After the initiating the paste command at the earliest possible time of access during re-boot, there will be a slight pause (this is OK), as soon as you see the overwrite prompt (or even before) - press A. Don't worry that the phone is still trying to reboot. Just try and get you commands in during the short times that the phone does gives you access.

It's one of those things where annoyingly someone else will site down and complete it first time.

Thanks for the reply, thought I wouldn't get anything until tonight! Will try again now.

I am seeing exactly the same behaviour as "NinjaDuck" (Posted Tue Feb 25, 2003 9:50 pm) on my Orange SPV.

I wonder if this has anything to do with it:

http://news.com.com/2100-1033-981244.html

I *suspect* that they changed something relating to the unlocking procedure.

I ordered my SPV from a website in early Februry. They were out of stock because "Orange was applying a security fix" to them. Two weeks later my SPV with the "security fix" arrived.

Can anyone confirm whether Orange has meddled with the unlocking and if so if there is anyway of circumventing it?

<get on soap box> If you work for Orange and are reading this, shame on you for locking the phones in the first place. I believe you are creating a situation as ludicrous as say, a PC company such as Dell locking their PCs to be able to run only software approved by Dell. It is clearly ridiculous and will stifle growth if no one puts an end to this ridiculous practise. If the concern is unauthorised software and breaking into phones and virusses, solve it in some other way. <get off soap box>

EUREKA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - I think it may be that the word beginner means that everything has to be spelt out for you! The A worked a treat even though it seemed to download after the main screen came up. That was was was confusing me. Thank you so much for all the wonderful help - I shall return..........
