Now I've extensively modified it (especially putting task manager software on it) 7/10. It crashes too often for me, and the battery is crap. When it's working it's great though.

Guest mvsmith07 Posted August 20, 2003 Report Posted August 20, 2003 8, maybe even a 9 out of 10 for me. I'm a tech-lover and I use the SPV mainly as a PDA and MP3/MPG player. I use the phone functions as well, obviously, but it's a secondary use as far as I am concerned. Having all this in one unit is ideal. The battery life is an issue, but it's no worse than other colour screen phones if all you do is leave the phone in standby and make/receive calls. It's only when you start pushing the phone to it's limits by playing MP3s/MPGs or customising for a prolonged period that the battery quickly drains away. I've converted a couple of movies to SPV size and have several CDs in MP3 format on my 256Mb SD Media card all of which I find play OK on the SPV. I've had a couple of lock-ups, but having been a user of Microsoft software for getting on for 15 years now, what's new? Take the battery out and put back and switch on and everything back to normal again. Standard practice with MS stuff. The SPV is by far the best gadget in my collection so far and I'm well pleased with it.

Guest spider Posted August 20, 2003 Report Posted August 20, 2003 as an out-of box phone: I would say 5: because it did what they (O) told us it could do, but nothing more than that (actually I think they actually promised us a little more than what it could, but anyway) as an de-cert phone and with all the sw that people is creating for free I would say 8 (maybe 9), because I think it is just FANTASTIC that some people will make sw for free just so the rest of us can enjoy it...and we can not thank them enough (IMHO) because what they do is what the MS development guys should have done in the first place.....so THANKX :) to all you guys/girls out there for making the SP worth having (after all)
Guest lowbug Posted November 20, 2003 Report Posted November 20, 2003 6100 > 6.5/10 E100 > 7/10 E200 > 9/10 As for phone crashes... the E100 was way more stable then any nokia i can remember, anyone have a 7110 thats a byword for flakey, 6310 o.k.-ish. E200 seems good. I'm a very heavy phone user on a unlimited talk tariff ;) Just wait till the .net developers start programing them.... loads of apps! :lol:
