Guest Shadowy
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I've never understood why the phone update requires the risky switch to usb when the pda part doesn't. Can anyone explain it please?

Guest liads
The radio rom (aka phone part) is stored on a different chip than the PDA rom, and is running separately from the OS (on some devices it even has a dedicated CPU core running it). So in order to talk with this chip during an update, it needs to be contacted directly by switching the USB connection target to the phone part and using the "Samsung Modem Driver". This is just how I understand it...
Guest lastnikita
that's what I thought as well, what's surprising me is that other pdaphones don't need any additional driver..
