Guest enoir Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 Im losing hope of 6.5 for the Omnia B) Oh well, theres always SPB Mobile Shell 3 coming :(
Guest jonboyuk Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 Right then, here's my two pennies... Obviously some Chinese guy has managed to port it over. Can we not be a little clever and try and trace it back to where it came from i.e. the guy who cooked it and see if he will share it with us for english porting. Can't we search the internet for the custom build number/letters? We might need someone who speaks Chinese to speak to him, but we should be able to do this. I WANT WinMo 6.5! Grrrrr :(

Guest qbus Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 (edited) Guys, I've flashed that ROM and I must say that I'm really dissapointed. Except new Icon on titlebar, Today Screen and Start Menu (finger friendly but not too intuitive) everything else is the same as in WinMo 6.1 (not fingerfriendly). I think that SPB Mobile Shell 3 will be a better addon then this. Honestly even Manila is much more intuitive and fingerfriendly then this :( . I personally would not cry if this won't be officialy released for Omnia. I believe that for real revolution we will have to wait until Windows Mobile 7 arrive. I've recorded a movie how this looks on my Omnia. You can watch it on my blog (http://blog.qbus.pl/). Edited March 1, 2009 by qbus

I like it i have to say but different strokes for different folks and all that.

I like it i have to say but different strokes for different folks and all that. More Samsung applications but not any new Microsoft's things (it's just a operating system :(). I can bet that soon someone will write an addon for Windows Mobile 6.0/6.1 which will act like Microsoft's "new" OS. As I said 6.5 = 6.1 + new today plugin and new Start Menu.
Guest finaldestiny Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 Maybe most of the additional features are underthehood, like bug fixes, more scrolling sensitivity, battery life handling, security etc. I'm just saying, microsoft doesn't always fix the obvious, but then again, what do i know :|

I don't believe that Microsoft would do anything more except some cosmetics in WinMo 6.5. The real new OS will be (I hope) Windows Mobile 7.

Guest bobobird Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 (edited) I believe that for real revolution we will have to wait until Windows Mobile 7 arrive. M$ is not exactly known to be "revolutionary". Their way is always to take what has already been done by others or buy them out. WinMo's main market share comes from the USA but the iPhone and Blackberry has eaten quite a lot of that lead. Europe and rest of the world is mainly Nokia. The ship has left and they will have a hard time catching up. This guy seems to be doing a lot of HTC 6.5 roms http://hi.baidu.com/sun_dream Edited March 1, 2009 by bobobird

There will always be a WinMo in one form or another
Guest bobobird Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 (edited) Yes Enoir, there will always be a WinMo following. Unfortunately, m$ let the ship sail like it did with web technology. When winmo first came out, the only competition it had was Nokia. Now all they can do is play "catch-up". The dynamics of the phone industry are not the same as those of the technology enthusiast. And Corp needs are very very differnt. Hence, corps use blackberries almost exclusively, not WinMo devices. Here are some stats http://www.mobileisgood.com/statistics.php Sorry, I meant to say that with most organistions using MS Exchange, Winmo is the natural mobile email solution. RIM servers are just too expensive and specialised to set up. M$ have been slow in expanding WinMo I agree but lets see what they do with ver7, we could be pleasantly surprised. Without doubt, WinMo is the most robust. Im not a fanboy or anything but its far more versatile than any other alternative.
