Guest Omnia-Winker Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 Sector. Do you think you will cook a new rom with the new GUI updates, or will you wait. I saw your previous post about the new GUI having a number of visual negatives. Just a question if you are passing ;) :D :)

Guest ronaldb3 Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 Why the big difference in the release numbers, i.e. 23007 and 21928? I think 21928 is more(?) official and has gotten good reviews for being stable. 23007 is the latest anyone's been able to get their hands on as a base to cook. Of course that could change any minute now. ;) Ron...
Guest jorge.mmf Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 I'm stuck in align sreen, i've tried flsah with 23007 but ramains the same. Some ideas, please? I'll try to flash with an old to see what happens. Thanks
Guest rndchef Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 (edited) I heard that Verizon came out with the official ROM update called CF03 and its been cooked by Adrynalyne. Is this ROM also based on that or CC20? I searched and nothing came up. I am using WoZZer's 6.5 Lite, which says Sector and Khuancai when it starts up, little confused about that, and wondered if I should flash to this one. Any help? Does the 12 MB Pagepool improve performance that much? Thanks for the help. Edited July 20, 2009 by rndchef

As you increase in builds doesn't that mean that we're getting more official, I mean I don't know... I could be retarded.  I am just lost, maybe anyone else to chime in and offer any good info because I thought I seen sector say 21928 had all kinds of bugs.

By official I mean approved for release to the masses by Samsung/Microsoft. I think the cooks are getting latest releases through "unofficial" sources. ;) The"most official" release number would be what Samsung has on it's update site, again for the masses, not the smart people that come here. I do not know what number Samsung has let out there now. I'm thinking it might be old and still WM 6.1. At least M$ admits to WM6.5. IMHO, Ron... PS - I would be curious as to where the cooks do get their base releases, since WM6.5 is not official for the Omnia. But if they want to keep it a secret, that's OK by me. Just keep those good cooked roms coming. Edited July 20, 2009 by ronaldb3

Either way, it seems as if the further we've been moving the better 6.5 has been running for the most part. +1, although you read here that several people (just some, as there are many different setups) seem to have problems with one of the cooked roms. then the next release fixes most of those problems. And these "problems" almost always get responses of "me too" and also "not me". Go figure. So the "problems" do not seem to be hitting a large number of us at the same time. I hate to say this, but I think some of the little problems are with the cook, as they have so many changes now and cannot test them all every time. To their credit, these little things are usually addressed right away. But I think the bigger problems, as the fingermouse not working, is M$'s fault. Ron... Edited July 20, 2009 by ronaldb3
Guest mattb777 Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 sorry to chime in, but i read somewhere that the 21000 series is for testing GUI changes while the 23000 is for testing stability of the system or something like that. There are two branches working on building 6.5 and each is responsible for different parts of the os, hence the two different numbers. 21925/8 is the most recent, but because it's from a different branch to 23007 doesnt mean it's the most stable as they're working on different experimental parts of the os. hope that settles it a little bit
Guest mynullvoid Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 Sector, your SMS Delivery Fix is not working, this also happen in your previous version, I need to reinstall the application to get it working.
Guest vinbeaver Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 No need to apologize as knowledge is power, we don't claim to know it all here, hell I know I don't and I've been here for awhile and still feel like a newb. Â I am just curious as to how the whole system works with the builds that's all. Â As for the fingermouse, well never used it... never saw the big deal about it but apparently people "love" it. Â Well we'll see as we go, I'm not sure if I'm prefering UI changes or stability, or some odd mixture of both. Â I love looks but hell I need mine to work smooth.
Guest sector Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 for now i see stability more important than UI changes. most probably next 21XXX branch will be better, i hope though. Till now 23007 works fine here. @null: I will check more info SMSDrFix. Maybe it registers in services or smth.
Guest vinbeaver Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 (edited) So is that the deal sector, there are two different if you will versions of WM 6.5 out and about? Â One more focused on UI updates and the other being stability correct. EDIT: Also have you played with any of the new UI changes? Anything worthwhile in there besides what Engadget reported. Guest Mike178 Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 3-in-1 is M2D, Titanium and default today? Latest is 21928 but has many bugs in UI. We see the negatives also ;) not only the positives. Worked for me at the first time. ===== Im attaching a WMP fix. Forgot to port it to wqvga. yes, 3 in 1 include M2D and titanium and the default today.. i like M2D more than the titanium.. easier and more convenient and very costumazable with M2DC 2.09... i loaded all ur themes from the M2D theme thread and it is very nice))
Guest Bombe XIII Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 Hi sector! For me this Z1light, is the most stable and fastest version i never had! I've no problem, except the icons in cApp from Titanim, but it's not you. I've just to reinstall it,and it work great... Many thanks XIII

Guest Mike178 Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 (edited) Hi! Can someone please look in register under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> Comm -> ConnMgr -> Planner -> Settings and tell me what value is it under SuspendResume? Thank you very much! if u need the default value it is :~GPRS! if i am not mistaken and if u want to have the GPRS to disconnect after u finish browsing or after being idle for 1 min thand edit the following suspendresume Value GPRS_bye_if_device_off and set the cache time to 60 instead of 600 since it is in seconds value 60= 1 minutes wait 20 seconds ad restart and if u need my advice do it this way it is the best.. this is the first thing i do after flashing))) NOTE: this will only auto-disconnect if the signal is idle, so if you have Opera, IE, etc, running it will not close your GPRS connection, but will do so right after you close the app. Works great for if you set your email to automatically sync... it connects, checks mail, and disconnects on its own so it doesnt drain your battery Edited July 21, 2009 by Mike178

Guest Bojan Kseneman Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 The ROM is working on Samsung SGH I-900 Omnia very well, but there are a few things that could be better. For example: Input method always sets to keyboard on reboot and you have to set it to Samsung Keyboard or something else everytime you shut on the phone, making it quite annoying. The ROM is missing an installed Opera, since IE sux badly on PPC or a normal PC (always will be like that - Microsoft etc.) Since we need a portable computer, it should have some office programs (micrsoft office) preinstalled. Also the mouse cursors is having some problems working Despite that it's the best ROM you can find Regards

I think this arrangement gives flexibility, some pple may not like to use opera, some of us prefer to install it to My Storage to save some device mem. Mouse pointer - Well documented bug of the wm 6.5 roms, nothing much the chefs can do.
