Normally, you don't need it. This is only for people who want to use Omnia original KB.

Guest gianton Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Thank you guys (qbus, sector & Khuanchai) once again! Last version by Khuanchai is great and more important for me I have the BT voice command working! Will donate some $$$ asap!
Guest qbus Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 Friends, Although qbus and sector have discontinued their work on the current WM6.5 and went back to WM6.1 for their daily use. However, I have got the original WM6.5 ROM set from sector and try to make a customized ROM based on this beta ROM. Hope qbus and sector don't mind for this extension. This is for test only. Thank you for your engagement! I've updated first post in this thread adding link to your ROM so it won't be lost in page's chaos :(.

Guest chokia Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 Can you gurus teach me how to :- 1. Change the menu background, i see the pdavietguy changed his to this Actually i want background that i choose for todays screen in menu as well, so i can see how honeycomb transparent effect on it. 2. Install the working Opera Mobile, Perhaps the latest version that work with omnia, and it must have flash3.1. Tried Opera 9.5 Build 15954 but the screen cant move and flash not working. I dunno why that guy put it on Omnia forum when it doesnt work. 3. To make the screen stay on when playing videos/ streaming TV and also when GPS is ON. Currently the screen off following the backlight settings Thanks for your work
Guest palah Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 Friends, Although qbus and sector have discontinued their work on the current WM6.5 and went back to WM6.1 for their daily use. However, I have got the original WM6.5 ROM set from sector and try to make a customized ROM based on this beta ROM. Hope qbus and sector don't mind for this extension. This is for test only. I came up with my own-styled customized ROM that is now ready for testing. I called it Omnia_WM6.5_M2D version. By this ROM customization, you can choose either one of 3 today GUIs on your preference: 1. Default simple WM today screeen (with todayagenda, wireless manager, screen lock, and claunch) 2. Original WM6.5 CHome (my least favorite) 3. TouchFlo 2D Lite version All the WM6.5 features mentioned in this thread work as expected as well as their bugs, for example, disabled finger mouse, etc., but mostly tolerable for me. If you find the honeycomb GUI buggy, enable the large menu in the system settings to use normal interface. Also incorporated to this ROM is liads' BT routing patch that makes omnia able to invoke voice speed dial using your Mono bluetooth headset. Again, there still be a known bug that you can wake your phone up by power button and BT tapping only. Download link: http://rapidshare.com/files/205195589/Omni...6.5_M2D.EXE.zip For orginal Omnia keyboard: http://rapidshare.com/files/191937285/OmniaKeyboard.zip Thanks to: 1. qbus and sector for their initiation on the WM6.5 testing and their kind offer of this beta ROM to me 2. liads for his excellent work on bluetooth audio patch 3. mrtoto and all rom staff from pdamobiz for their great tools and support 4. modaco that is best website for omnia users Hi Khunanchai, tried this rom but had a not too useful today screen that was only functional with M2D selected which made it look like anyother M2D rom (duh :( so was going back to 6.1 when came across http://www.modaco.com/content/i9x0-omnia-r...t-from-pdaviet/ which has the proper today screen working and a better looking honeycomb screen but no BT fix B) so just evaluating as understand bugs are present in 6.5 but would say the pdaviet one more functional but thanks for your efforts in getting BT intergrated
Guest chokia Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 I thought Kuanchai mentioned got 3 Option Todays screen, not sure what he meant by cHome and cLauch, obviously we still want titanium It will be good if there are 4 Options 1. Titanium + Honeycomb (Original WM6.5) 2. Manila 2D TouchFlo 3. Samsung Widget 4. Normal WM today screen So we can change it anytime we like. Can anyone confirm this before i download and install?
Guest mobilehappy Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 (edited) Just tried Kuanchai's version and its basically a 6.1 with 6.5 titanium and honeycomb menu added.... It basically lacks most of the nice features from 6.5 like the new scroll bars, "pop-up" menues , contact manager etc...... Edited March 5, 2009 by mobilehappy

Thanks for your work could not get today screen up on this Rom so using Pdaviets... to change the order just hold you finger or stylus on the icon you would like to move and a pop up asks 'move to top' select and it moves... could not drag or tell where to go but did move most used icons to the top

It basically lacks most of the nice features from 6.5 like the new scroll bars, "pop-up" menues , contact manager etc...... Friends, I know you didn't mean to blame us but I'd like to explain more about this project. This is my opinion only; qbus and sector might not agree with me. 1. There is NO real WM 6.5 device in the market now. This is just a leaked beta ROM that may not be used in any future device. 2. This leaked beta ROM was originally designed for qvga device only. It's not automatically usable by any other devices without some modifications. Those ROMs for vga, wvga, and wqvga devices you found in many websites were modified by some ROM experts (not us) to be able to use with those devices. As for omnia, this beta ROM was tested for some time without success. Just recently that some Chinese ROM experts (not us) could make it usable for omnia. 3. Qbus and sector got this modified ROM from someone I don't know and initiated this testing plan. I got it from sector and was glad to help their project. 4. The ROM we got was based on the leaked WM 6.5 core system but already came with a mixture of many WM 6.1 system files. We further included some original Omnia files to make it work with our device. So it contains files from about 10 OS builds from 20270 to 21169. 5. In order to retain all functional omnia programs, I decided to integrate all Samsung IA5 applications (OEM) to the ROM. Some new HTC OEM programs may run without problem on omnia but that can take a long time for trials and errors. From our experience, changing to other OEM makes more bugs but adds a little advantage. 6. Therefore, don't expect that this is a perfect WM 6.5 ROM, especially mine that was also added with M2D and many other tools. Qbus and sector said several times that this project of making a TEST ROM is just for proof of concept only. So please use it as a test ROM. It would be great if you have tried and posted some bugs that we may be able to solve in the future. It will be fine if you find this test ROM stable enough for your daily use. If not, just go back to the one that most suits your daily use and wait until there is a real WM 6.5 device coming out. Samsung may or may not make a new WM 6.5 or 7 device in the future. Sorry for long message. Hope everyone understands our purpose. Khuanchai Edited March 5, 2009 by Khuanchai

If you enable "Titanium", you will get the WM6.5 screen. 3. If you enable "TouchFlo", you will get M2D screen. The honeycomb start menu is enabled by default. If you don't like it, just enable large display setting. Edited March 5, 2009 by Khuanchai

Khuanchai Understand what you guys do ... and APPRECIATE... so in no way would expect anything more from something that says Test/Beta ... and free to boot :( be anything more than ... if it suits your needs, use... if not reflash to something else. Interestingly could not find settings to enable titanium home... so may revisit as the pdaviet effort is working fine except cannot view emails. Q. do you know, is the email function working correctly on your rom ? as did not get that far. on pdaviets the windows tip is the only one that will open, you can download fine but not select. as do not mind the interface and can put up a bug or two (had an O2 Atom running wm6.1 & HTC customisations B) so if emails viewable will try your Rom once more as did not see with the titanium home screen Edited March 5, 2009 by palah
