Ok, lets start from the very beginning. Please check and confirm the following:

1. Your SPB Mobile Shell program is installed in My Device\Program Files\Spb Mobile Shell

2. You DO HAVE a string InstallDir, with the string field \Program Files\Spb Mobile Shell in HKLM\Software\Spb Software House 2\Spb Mobile Shell

3. Your Spb MobileShell Skins folder is in the root of My storage (My Storage\SpbMobileShellSkins).

Also, plese answer the following:

1. Do you run the MortScript.exe file before you try Install_WQVGA.mscr script?2. How did you transfer your SpbMobileShellSkins folder to My Storage? Did you do it through ActiveSync or through Mass storage option? Sometimes when you use ActiveSync to transfer files from PC to PDA they get corrupted due to conversion. Does not happen to often, but has happened before.

3. Do yoou have SpbMSSkins.lnk file on your Windows\Startup folder?

Let me know ASAP, so we can try to figure it out before you shoot your Omnia. BTW, it's a great device and SPB Shell is a great program, and Imarche skins as avery good and reliable add on. So its a shame that you have so much trouble with it.

2. I DO HAVE a string InstallDir, with the string field \Program Files\Spb Mobile Shell in HKLM\Software\Spb Software

3. My SpbMobileShellSkins folder was NOT in the root of My storage. It was in Storage Card\SKINS as SpbMobileShell2.1.2-WQVGA-Skins_Release3.1.1.zip ←!! Not only was it the wrong place but it was still compressed. I was looking at it in file explorer via Zip Mobile and I could see the scripts and I could run MortScript.mscr so I totally missed that they were files still in a compressed folder. I extracted the folder and copied it to root of My Storage. Then I deleted the mortscript shortcut I had put in Windows\Start Up, went back to the SpbMobileShellSkins folder in My Storage, ran MortScript.mscr, ran Install_WQVGA.mscr and voilà "Installation Done" (play MP3 now). HOORAY!

What an ordeal. Good thing you decided to go through a basic check list-strong work! It's always the simple stuff. You know what they say-when you hear hoofbeats, dont be looking for zebras. Now I wont have any problems installing 3.2.2 after I uninstall 3.1.1.

Or will I..... B)

I am glad it finally worked for you, so you can fully enjoy your Omnia with SPb shell and skins.

Now we need to wait for Shell 3.0....

ilyukha, one can uninstall MobileSkins 3.1.1 and then install 3.2.2 or use the 'update' file. Which route you think has the fewest land mines along the way?

Some people are just never satisfied. B)

Update is easier to install, it just puts some additional files in the skins folder and thats it. However update dos not include all the chages made between 3.1.1 and 3.2.

So I would probably do uninstall and install again.

De sure to back up your data including the folder with the skins on My Storage

Ok, my turn.... I'm a noob with windows mobile and ppc's. I have SPB Mobile shell, I've read through the problems that the TS had, and I have mobile shell and have made sure it is installed in the correct place.

My Device--Program Files--Spbmobileshell.

I have tried and tried and tried to install spb mobile skins 3.2 and have even tried previous versions. When I install it on my phone, I get the generic windows icon next to it, and when I click on the file in my storage on my phone, I get the error

SPB Mobile Shell skins cannot open because it is not signed with a trusted certificate or one of it's components cannot be found.

I installed resco explorer and when I go into the skins file through resco, and find the "Install_wqvga.mscr" and click on it, it takes me to a page asking me what program I would like to use to open the file.

Can anyone help with this? I have no idea what to do to make this work...

Edit... When I go into the program through resco, and try to click install_wqvga.mscr, It tells me that Mortscipt cannot find spb mobile shell version 2.1.2

I've even removed mobile shell and reinstalled it.

Sounds like you dont have a file compression utility. It doesnt know what do do with the file. Mine came with Zip Mobile on it. You can use winrar for pocket PC I have that now too, I mustve installed it during this debacle at some point. Those files will have an icon like a stack of books after you install it.

Youre making the same mistake I made- the spbMobileShellSkins folder is compressed, so even though you can see the files in it, they need to be unzipped first.

And you are running MortScript.mscr before you run Install_wqvga.mscr, right?

By some bassackwards way, I got something for this installed on my phone, however none of it works, and I can't get rid of what's on there. It wasn't in my remove programs. So I'm thinking I may just do a hard reset (which if I remember correctly deletes any thing that wasn't on the phone in the first place, and re-install mobile shell and the other apps I have on there, and start over with the skins.

Thanks for the winrar suggestion. I'll have to get that on there.

You need to unzip package with Skins on your computer and THEN put it at the root of My Storage. You do not have to have mobile winrar to run it.

How is it uninstalled? It is not listed under Remove Programs>programs in storage memory or in Managed Programs.

You need to run UnInstall.mscr script in your SpbMobileShellSkins\Scripts folder

I have installed the SPB mobile shell 2.1.5, everything was fine until I tried to install the Spb skins release 3.2 on it. After running mortscript, i ran the install_wqvga.mscr, when rar is trying to copy the files, a rar diagnostic message popped up and says Cannot rename \application data\volatile\__rz...... to \layout. and the SPB menu doesn't work anymore after that. Has anyone faced the same problem??

Hey Kill Your Phone, why don't you just flash to one of the new 6.5 roms and let Titanium make poopy all over mobile shell. Can't stand mobile shell...not even v3...

Ok, now that i finally got version 4.1 installed, I'm trying to update to versions 4.1.2 and 4.1.3 (From the looks of it, I believe I have to install the updates in order??)

Anyway, starting with the update 4.1.2, I unzipped everything to the same folders as prior, overwrote existing files, and ran the .mscr file, soft reset, and no changes!! under TOOLS, the icon is still SPB Skins 4.1.

Any suggestions??? I've been going over this for hours!!!

Thanks in advance!!!
