Guest Turborepu Posted March 11, 2009 Report Posted March 11, 2009 how ironic that the i910 has an easy fix for the ringer volume and it does not work on the i900 but you guys get all the easy volume fixes for the rest of the phone items like handset, headset etc etc..via codes or soundtester and you have working gps.. :(

B) True, True, but something for something else. i mean i understand the frustration of having other issues which u cannot fix in the i910 but i think that this ringtone issue is also quite irritating for us i900 owners, as much as other issues can be irritating for you i910 owners. but samsung is releasing some developpers APIs and (not that i am a pro in developping, actually i am totally lost in that) hopefully someone will figure out how to give you full control in the i910s

HKCU\ ControlPanel\ SoundCategories\Ring\ AttenuationCategory: set it to 0 Hi, it didn`t work for me - after setting it to 0 and doing a soft reset the volume never gets to max when getting a phone call - it stays low... I`m running DXHK1 B)
Guest kurniawan Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 Hmmm, ???? Well i have under the keyfolder \Ring\ the following: DefaultSound I have changed this one to my ringtone, for me it's blablabla.wav Directory \My Documents\My Ringtones This is where i have saved my ringtone @ HKCU\ ControlPanel\Sounds\Ringtone0\ Script-OemRingtoneGap I have deleted the script 'w3', and left it blank.... BUT.... i am on WM6.5...... Don't know how these values are on WM6.1 Now... i need to find out how to change the attenuation volume as the value 0 is soft and STAYS soft. B) Changed it to '2', it's soft for 3 secs, after that it goes to the max.....

I`m running DXHK1 B) just one thing out of context here, u should probably consider upgrading ur ROM since there have been improvements in the battery life and apps in the latest ROMs, u should try DXIA5. one thing to make clear, upgrading the ROM will not resolve this issue. I am running DZIA5 and i changed this value and the delay for the max sound volume is decreased but still not instantaneous.
Guest maf107ezk0 Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 Well, I thought of changing the ROM but some say there are some bugs with wi-fi?!?! :( Dunno - definately will try it in a few days B)
Guest nheeka Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 anybody remembers what was the original value? I'd like to change it back as it made no effect.
Guest horias Posted March 17, 2009 Report Posted March 17, 2009 anybody remembers what was the original value? I'd like to change it back as it made no effect. The original value was : 2

Guest Salubri Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 Is there something else I can try to fix this issue on the I900 Omnia? I have tried changing these values in the registry but it doesnt work. I can set it to 0 and it will stay low, 2 and it is rising and 1 it is also rising. I had the ringtone high before but when I changed to another ringtone it went rising and its stuck this way even if I try changing between ringtones and ring-modes.
Guest Skyline987 Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 It should be noted that supposedly with this fix, when the system sounds are muted the ringer will be muted as well which isn't the normal behavior of the phone. I posted a fix for the i910 here (http://www.modaco.com/content/i9x0-omnia-h...g-ringtone-fix/) that works when the system sounds are muted 1. Open up a registry editor (i use the one that comes with Resco file explorer) 2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Attenuation 3. Create a new DWORD value named 5 with DWORD Data set to 1 4. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Ring 5. Change the value of AttenuationCategory to 5
Guest Too-Sexy Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 Hey guys i just tried something on my omnia. I copied my ringtone to my PC and split it into 2 pieces. The first 4 seconds piece and the rest of the song piece. I used a program called MP3 Gain to increase the first piece volume and then i just joined the two pieces together! And now my ringtone is always loud! From the beginning of an incoming call! You should try it since these registry fixes didn't help in my situation!
Guest za3boto Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 Since most of you agree that this fix isn't working because the phone reverts back to the original setting as soon as you soft reset it, I thought of making a .reg file and adding this fix to it (like what you do on a windows pc) and then put it in the startup folder so that it add the fix to the registry every time you soft reset the phone. Will try and let you know.

I posted a fix for the i910 here (http://www.modaco.com/content/i9x0-omnia-h...g-ringtone-fix/) that works when the system sounds are muted THANKS so much. I was one who had a problem w/ the phone not ringing after the increase ringtone fix when system sounds were muted. I removed the fix because i was missing calls because the phone woudln't ring with the fix when i had system volume turned to mute. I posted in HowardForum asking for help with this. I've followed your instructions and now i have the loud ringer volume AND it rings even when i have system sounds on mute. Love it! [where's that cookie icon? <_< ]

Guest Toldo Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 None of the tweaks works on the i900. What I managed to find out is when you set AttenuationCategory to 0, the low volume tone will ring like for 5-6 secs, then louder, while when you set it to 1, it will be low for like 2 secs, then louder. For me the 2 setting is default where the lower ring is for ab't 3 secs. The RingtonePreview is for playing ringtone when setting a new one. Also setting the InitVol value to 6 (5 is the default) makes the low ring a little bit louder, only one thing strange about this setting, when you set more than 6, the lower ring will decrease its volume...
Guest norules Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 OK.., I've got the same problem with my i900. So I began a Google Search & I found: In order to benefit from the (nearly) instant ringing time, you will NEED to convert ANY and ALL Ringtones you want to use into WAV format. Using ANY other format will re-introduce the 3 second/rings delay. Link to the article So..., anybody had test this? I'll try ASAP because I have an mp3 ringtone... Greets to all the MoDaCo team... :)
