There is no notification sound in text and email. There is only notification numbers shown in Lock screen and titanium.

Anyone else have this bug as well? I am on the Ultralite 21234.

Has been the same with WM6.5 since BT fix was implemented, it will work 'sometimes' when screen is active but never on standby but works on Sectors 6.5 roms. Use BT myself with MVCommand for 99% of calls so need but also like the notification of emails/text but as a trade off u can set to vibrate and that works most of the time to alert

Thanks for your fast reply. I think I can live with it as well. BT fix is more important to me too.

I installed the latest Lite Firmware, and used the cab provided to install the Samsung Widget interface. Everything is fine except that the soft buttons at the bottom of the Today screen both say "Contacts" and both bring up the contact app. This has been happening since the 4-in-1 has been discontinued, which makes me believe it's an issue with the way I'm installing the cab. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Thank you so much! That's fixed my problem <_<

Big volume control can't be used with our BT-fixed ROM. It will disable autorotation.

That is such a pity - really like the Samsung big volume control.

Anyone know of any other volume apps that could work with this ROM and replace the default one (which I find just toooooooo ugly <_< ).

Apart from that really like the ROM. Been using Sector's ROMs but thought a change would be fun while waiting for his next release. If I can find a solution for this problem hey I might not switch back!

Hi Master Cook Khuanchai,

I understand there is another core coming out soon that might be RM (then maybe the last one for a while). If so, I wanted to give you some thoughts on your next Ultralite rom release if I may.

The latest Ultralite rom with Titanium to me is really just a Lite rom. To really be a Ultralite rom would have many programs removed that are now in Ultralite, particularly a Shell program.

These programs would have to meet some criteria.

-Be able to be removed and still have basic rom work ok. WMP and FM Radio are examples of ones that could not be removed.

-Be able to be added as a cab for those who do want them. (additional advantage to cab is that an updated version can be added later.)

-Maybe have other substitute programs (even if commercial/buy) that people use so as not to have wasted space for a unwanted/unused/duplicate function program.

My list of programs not needed in a really Ultralite rom that are in some current Ultralite roms is below:

  1. Titanium or M2D. There are many first screen shells such as MS3 that people want to use instead of these two. Maybe even Windows 6x. (Ugh-ugly!)
  2. Voice Speed Dial – some people prefer MS Voice Command and some builds of VC are available as a cab, or you can buy version 1.6.
  3. MS Office – some value to some but is available as cab.
  4. Restore Network – not needed by many of your followers.
  5. Domain Enroll – not needed by many.
  6. Voip programs – not needed by many.
  7. Favorite Hackings – some value to some but is available as cab.
  8. Advance Config – some value to some but is available as cab.
  9. IMselector – some value to some but is available as cab.
  10. PHM Register Editor – is available as cab. Other good Reg Editors come with Total Command and Sktools.
  11. Samsung R2VS – some value to some but is available as cab.
  12. Shake and Save – some value to some but is available as cab.
  13. Games (Solitaire/Bubbles) – some value to some but is available as cab.
  14. Streaming Player – some value to some but is available as cab.
  15. Smart Lock – some value to some but is available as cab.
  16. Torch Button – some value to some but is available as cab.
  17. Touch Player – some value to some but is available as cab.
  18. Windows Live – some value to some but is available as cab.
  19. Several original Samsung programs (Smart Converter, Smart Reader, Startup Manager, etc.) – some value to some people but are available as cabs.
  20. Several converted HTC programs (HTC Task Manager, etc.) – some value to some people but are available as cabs.
A Ultralite Rom without these programs and built the way you do Ultralite would be a real lean and mean rom with lots of space for people to add what they want and use. And actually be usable as is for basic working and pretty fast as is I bet.

IMHO-

Ron…

PS – comments on above certainly welcomed from you other Omnians.

Sounds interesting to me but I have to let you know that

1. I don't think it's a very good idea to remove some basic programs, for example MS Office.

2. Some programs can be removed but some cannot. I also don't know how to remove some Omnia programs/controls.

3. Adding programs directly to the ROM usually save more storage memory than CAB installation.

4. Those few tools I add in the ROM are very small and most unnecessary files (in the CAB if available) are removed.

5. The main reason I add VSD in the ROM is from I couldn't make VC working after 21500. Good news that it may be possible for the next ROM that I can remove VSD and supply CAB for both programs. Again, VSD is quite small in size compared with other voice command programs.

6. Although making smaller ROM can improve speed and increase storage but there is a lower limit in ROM size. I will have to check this for Omnia.

However, thanks for your input. I'll try my best for the next UltraLite ROM. It will be as smallest as possible while keeping its best functions as our companion.

I agrre on this as well. Main target is to have large free space, we have like 146mb free with the Ultralite ROM. To me most apps are useful.

Great to hear that it is in your consideration.

I do agree with ronaldb3 on his suggestions.

In order for your UltraLite ROM to be justified as UltraLite, it should really be as lean as possible except for those that cannot be removed.

The programs that you've included might be smaller in size when cooked into, I myself don't use any of them at all with the exception of MS Office and Touch Player in those 20 items listed.

Update: Omnia Lite and 3-in-1 ROM base DXID1 build 21234 with BT-audio fix (24 May 2009)
Just wondering: why revert to build 21234 when you previously already had a build 21500 up? I'm assuming 21500 would be more recent than 21234, or am I missing something here?

Hi tingchung,

It wouldn't be exactly stock as the cooks take out some of the Samsung "junk" such as those movie trailers and I don't know what else they clean up that we don't need. This is why I said "built the way you do Ultralite".

Thanks for your comment.

Hi Andy,

Unfortunately I add almost all the cabs on the list back in. But many can go to My Storage instead of Main Memory. I use MS Office a lot as well. Not so much to create documents, but to have ones I created/updated on my desktop with me to look at, such as my movie list when I go to Blockbusters.

Thanks for your comments.

Hi Khuanchai,

I really like your roms. I have used Qbus and then Sector roms (since G2) before, and now yours.

I like your comments and have some on yours.

1. Agree. I like and use MS Office a lot.

2. Agree. I mentioned WMP and FM radio. You cooks know of more I'm sure.

3. Maybe. Some of the list as cabs can be added back to My Storage and work fine. These ones would reduce Main Memory.

4. Maybe. I use PHM Reg Edit (habit for many years back to HP3600) and it is very small. But several small ones added together and put in My Storage might add up to a goodly amount of Main Memory saved.

5. Maybe. I hope you can take out VSD. I don't use any of it. I don't know if any of your many USA followers can use it or no.

6. Agree. If there is a low limit, you are stuck with that.

Also, for the programs that can go in My Storage/Program Files means I don't to load them with every rom update. And I have their shortcuts in a Program Folder that I save and restore. (comment for those who might think of the work to reload cabs with a new rom.)

Thanks,

Ron...

Hi Bouvrie,

I'll repeat some comments for you that I have seen on this from some time ago.

21500 is a fake. But some cooks said it was done very well and was a good base. But no one knew who make it. Strange.
