Hello Shokka,

Last night I flashed this excellent ROM and have spent the rest of the evening, and most of this morning, reloading all of my apps. I opted not to use Sprite Backup because I needed to test each app one by one. This is the first time that I'm using any of your ROMs, and also the first time that I'm using M2D.

I did notice a couple of weird items, and if you have moment maybe you can consider and comment on them.

- The digital clock on M2D tends to "jump" or "flicker" from time to time.

- The digital and analog clock will also appear together at random, even though I disable one or the other in the settings.

- The weather ticker also tends to flicker and jump along with the clock.

- I was also getting a random graphic distortion on a small area of the screen. It would appear in the form of a small square in the middle of the screen; however, I think that I may have solved that one. I am/was using the Grigoris v2 Taskbar, and since removing it, the problem hasn't reoccurred. Shame, because I really liked the icons used in that one.

- I can't seem to get any control over M2D in general. I'm trying to change the appearance of the home screen altogether. This is my first time using M2D at all (I'm also using SPB3), so it's also quite possible that I may not be doing something right.

Aside from what I've just mentioned above, everything else works great. The bugs are tolerable, but if there's something to do about them already, then I'd appreciate the info.

Well done, mate! I'll send a token your way.

EDIT: I've just discovered that there is indeed a problem with running the Grigoris v2 Taskbar on this ROM. There are no service bars - at all - next to the antennae. The percentage meter on the battery indicator will scramble. The OK and X scripts on the far right also distort. And yes, the afforementioned graphic distortion also did return. So the bottom line... for whatever the reason, at least the v2 version of Grigoris' taskbar appears to be incompatible witht this ROM.

Brief tips on using M2D would still be appreciated.

Sounds like you're describing Titanium, which in my opinoin is a bit wierd....

Go start / settings/ today, then go to items and untick windows default, and tick TouchFLO...

Then you should have M2D....

To customize, use M2DC, just play around with it and you'll be alright...

yeah, u talking bout Titanium....To ensure it runs smooth....set all the tabs up...Look in Sectors WM6.5 goodies thread (pinned). Set up weather & multiclock....

When you have; whenever the clock starts to flicker...tap settings and 'REFRESH CHOME'.

M2D

Well, there is nothing really to setup...except weather and your shortcuts (apps). Which are fairly self explanatory.

Use M2DC to add themes, add/remove panels, change the home screen soft buttons, change default internet browser etc.

Firstly, before you do anything with M2DC, plaease go to the restore tab, and save the theme.

To add a theme: You need the theme in .zip format. Copy the theme to anywhere on your Omnia (storage card is best). Open M2DC. First tab, tap add. Locate the .zip theme....it now should be visible in the list.

Now tap the theme to highlight it, then tap apply. M2DC will now apply the theme and restart M2D.

There are lotas of guides for M2D, using etc. If you get stuck, holla!!

Thanks, Shokka! I've been playing around with it for a little while now and am becoming acquainted with M2D. I'm beginning to like it because it looks very professional. I am a fan of SPB MS, but my only qualm with it is that it looks rather cartoony - if you know what I mean. Otherwise, I find it to be quite dynamic and flexible. I don't think that I'll bother with Titanium because my first impression is that there's just to much happening in one place, and at one time.

It's working great! Your ROM even resolved an issue that I had with WIFI connectivity that I was having with... ahem... Taril's ROM.

I am the same, i am kinda switching to Titanium, but you have to know how to make it look better for it to be worth while...

And that takes some know how too....and a lot of hacking...

M2D is solid, reliable and fast. My version is anyway...it has its glitches, but so does everything.

I usually rotate between the two.

No way....My ROM did something that Taril's couldnt?? WOW.....

Taril is back you know, not cooking, but helping out around here and there...

Good to hear you loving the ROM!

Much to my wife's dismay, I've spent just about the entire day examining every part of the ROM, but then that's just the way I am. For a living, I work on Windows based software for industrial robotic systems... and that can be very time consuming... so I have a lot of respect for you guys who do this as a hobby more or less so. I've thought about cooking my own stuff, but as you've mentioned yourself, time certainly isn't infinite - this I know!

I'm loving the flow of M2D... even moreso than SPB MS3. However, I also love the agenda and calendar views of MS3. In the end, I guess it's all quite personal. Perhaps sometime in the future, I'll start endeavoring into Titanium myself.

Taril's ROMs are good... a bit laggy... but good. I'm sure he knows this as do a lot of other users on this forum. I just don't like the tone he's taken towards other users and chefs in the forums - it came off as being very pompous. I'm glad to hear though that he's helping out because I still think that he brings a lot to the forum.

Since I've bought my Omnia, I've used ROMs for extended periods of time. I was using Paul's MCR03, then switched to Taril's most recent two, and now yours. I think I'm gonna hold onto this one for a while because even flashing takes up a lot of time. Now I'm rambling.....

Cheers mate!

After installing ShokkaTaskBar.CAB

The bluetooth icon was not replaced and still the default(white).

Any ideas how to fix that?

Thanks.

Hello Shokka,

Unfortunately, something has gone terribly wrong. After things were seemingly going well yesterday, I turned my phone on this morning and the whole system just bottlenecks. It takes a couple of minutes to load, TouchFlo doesn't launch anymore, screen touches are almost non-responsive or just terribly delayed, and the graphic distortion has reappeared - but only more invasive this time around.

Any ideas? I was running MS3 in tandem and have since removed it hoping that this would help something.

Hard reset it and start again. Touchflo should not do this, i dont know what you guys do with it, but i never get this problem.

MS3 doesnt really cause issues, but it could be??

I cant say, it all depends what you install after you flashed it. I cant be held responsible for all the apps tweaks etc you guys install.

I give you working ROM.

It's cool, man! I don't doubt that the ROM works. I think that the problem was some sort of conflict with MS3, so I've removed it. I've since Hard Reset the device and all is back to normal, but now I have to reload my apps again. I would flash my backup file but unfortunately, it also contains MS3 and I don't want to have to go through this again.

Just for clarity, MS3 seems to work okay in tandem with Titanium, but not TouchFlo - at least not with this ROM, or better yet, in my case.

Unfortunately, Shokka... M2D is behaving badly. After a hard reset, and only loading a limited number of apps, once I begin to customize the shell, the program crashes.

Perhaps it's just my case, but unfortunately, I'll probably go back to my old setup for now.

Thanks for your help!

What does the option "download content files" in the flashing program do?

Guest shokka9

do not change anything when flashing your Omnia...

Could turn it into a lovely ornament or paper weight....A BRICK!

Not sure what it does, but it didnt used to be ticked, now it is. Doing nothing is BEST..

If it aint broke....dont fix it!

:D

: meabigbaldguy

Unlucky...let me know what u are trying to do with the shell, saying stuff like that makes me think that you are gonna break the phone.

;)

Guest meabigbaldguy

Don't worry Shokka, I'm far from breaking it.

What I meant by customizing it was simply going into the M2DC settings and applying funtions to the softkeys,

browser path, etc. When I would apply the settings, it would crash instantly, and after a soft reset, TF would fail to launch, and only the Today Screen was present. Titanium would also launch... if I set it on. But I didn't give up on this yet...

After reviewing the problem, I found that I was able to launch TF manually from the Windows folder. I then thought that the conflict may have been with the Samsung Main Menu, which I installed a CAB for, and the the TF launcher was on the losing side of the battle with the Samsung launcher. That said, I hard reset, have been able to apply all my apps (minus the Samsung menu launcher)... again... and so far have been able to apply settings to M2DC without any issues.

The only persistent tick is that graphic distortion that still pops up from time to time. I thought that I had that pinned, but apparently not.

Keep you posted.

Nope, the multiclock that distorts, happens randomly, you just have to refresh CHome when it happens.

Also, a good tip is to disable M2D when playing with it.

Same with Titanium.

Good job

Shokka - I just flashed official firmware MSHJ1 from XXHH1. Now I've done this can I flash straight to this ROM - or do I have to do something else first?

i went from that HJ1 to whatever back when i first started flashing....

i also flashed a HH1 straight to DXIA5 some weeks ago...

Try it, if it dont work, it dont work, it wont flash ur Omnia...you cant start the process....but some people recommend trying another ROM first to ensure yours is capable of being flashed, i agree also, but i never had any issues...

If your phone is gonna die (brick) it will, it is fate. There is no signs, nothing.Could be first flash, 100th flash, it can happen. It is nobodies fault, not mine or yours. Just life as we know it ;) ...but this rarely happens these days.

You could try another ROM first...just remember, if you managed to go from XX to HJ it should be fine..try it.

But if you brick it, it had nothing to do with me.

Taril (knows his stuff :D) always recommended flashing to another ROM before going in at the deep end so to speak. You have a fairly old ROM, so it may be worth trying something else first. But i personally think you should go ahead with one of the new ones..

Your choice, it always is :D

Good luck.

Thanks, decided to jump in at the deep end, seeing as I'd already flashed the official rom. Yours installed first time, no problems at all. Great stuff!

Just an aside - is it possible ot have honeycomb menu while you are using M2D? It doesn't come up initially, so just wondered if you could switch it on manually. Thanks!
