Can you mix phone and pda parts from different roms

I've used i900 executor to update my phone and have seen that it breaks down a rom file into different parts.

Can i take the phone part from one rom and mix it with another (using grandprix as it asks for the different sections) without having to alter anything else?

The reason I'm asking is that the phone seems to work better when using an official uk vodafone rom but i'd like to use the pda part from a rom without all the added vodafone junk.
