The only way is through my website at http://www.theidoctor.org/omnia.html some people may not like to get it the way that the link leads, but that is the only other way. I would be willing to host it on my site for a few hours for a small fee, but i am still not sure if i want to risk putting that on my site....

thats why i used other methods lol :D

Try this.

Plug in your phone while powered OFF. Open UMDL, click the img, click detect. Then, on the top of the phone, push the soft reset button (next to the power button) and see if it doesn't detect if that way. If there's still an issue, try another USB port, or as a last resort, try another data cable.

I originally updated to the ROM in this thread but had no GPS. I did all the suggustions but nothing worked. Decided to upgrade to WoZZeR's 6.5 today. It is awesome!!!!! And, GPS works!

Can't wait for the 6.5 official release. :D

I would really like to flash my phone with this, but I have a couple of questions before.

Do you I really need to do a hard reset? I don't want to lose all my contacts and programs.

When the official Verizon update comes out will I still be able to update?

Thanks.

the update itself is pretty much a hard reset of the phone, it's a full wipe of the PDA portion of the phone. Even when verizon's official update will do the same. Use activesync and back up the info on your phone before you update, and then sync it back when the update is done.

What I have found to help an enormous amount is GPSGate.

In my case....I've even let windows manage GPS settings and no GPSGate.

Basically, i've done nothing but turn on phone....and launch these 2 GPS apps.

Aquisition of satillites is always typically under 45 seconds.

I live way way way east of Downtown Cleveland..........in another County.

Funny you mention culinary school, as this one's down the road from my house: http://www.lpscinc.com/index.asp

Should I do a full or custom backup? And what should I backup? Is anything in these systems settings going to mess up the next? Or when I update to the winmo 6.5 rom will that mess up?

Okay, so I flashed my omnia about two and a half weeks ago and love the new features, the only thing I can't quite get to work is the GPS.

In Google Maps when I let windows handle the settings, google maps says "seeking (0)" and then says weak gps signal.

When I manually set it to com8 and 57600, google maps says "seeking (seemingly random nine digit number)" but it never locks on and then it says that there is a weak gps signal.

GPS toggle tells me it is seeking 0.

The fact that google maps says it is seeking a number and not just zero is good right? It means the gps is working or at least accessible to google maps?

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks.

Do you have location set to on in the phone settings. Also, for some reason I can never get a lock first thing in the morning. Try different times in the day.

Thanks for the response. Yes, I have Location set to on. I've tried toggling it on and off and power cycling the phone after enabling it. I will have to try different times of the day. I'll have to make a concerted effort to get outside and stay in one spot, maybe I will have some luck.

OK so I was able to do the ROM update on a Vista machine with no problems... Worked great!!!

The only issu I have now is that I backed up my contacts with Windows Mobile Device Manager, and now I can not get them back onto the phone... ANyone have any ideas?? When I sync I can view all the phones files, but it does not sync the contacts... I did recheck the "use usb" in the sync connections...

Thanks in Advance..
