Guest Mr_Slugo Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 OK..so I flash with this ROM and everything goes well ... i'm digging the cool new features but.... I really did this so I could use the GPS with the cool iGo8 Nav. and it still does nothing ....GPS does the same as before I flashed it... iGo says it found the GPS device on port 8 but it won't hit a satalite ... I get one bar at the bottom of the GPS tap of iGo and thats it. Any suggestions? should I try the 6.5 rom?
Guest whitj Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 Mr_Slugo, I flashed Blazingwolf's MS3 rom with 6.1, and am able to consistently lock my GPS. Try his, it's great!
Guest amione Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 (edited) I got the gps to work. I was in Milwaukee on business and had some down time. I stood outside with Google maps running for 5-10 minutes and it finally locked onto about 4 satellites. It then worked in Des Moines and took about a minute to get a lock. Hopefully, it should have no problem getting a lock when I get back to Boston. Thanks guys. Edited May 7, 2009 by amione

WOW...my second post and I already have to admite "I'm a dummy" I forgot to change GPS from 911 only to always on ....everything works fine now. Just another question ... is there a factory ROM dump incase I wanted to flash it back to the original Verizon crap?
Guest iSelector Posted May 8, 2009 Report Posted May 8, 2009 Ok well I can give you all some advice of something NOT to do, I flashed the new ROM with success. But shortly after I used Spb Backup, then I lost verizon and have no service....I tried Hard reset but no code! Troubleshooting gets me a lot of errors, SECcontacts.exe crashes, and so does cprog.exe...which seems to be the most important....if anyone has any suggestions I'd gladly except, in the mean time I'll keep trying to get it working and update as progress is made.

Guest plecosword Posted May 8, 2009 Report Posted May 8, 2009 So I have the samsung Omnia, i910 and I thought there would have already been a way too unlock the wi fi and GPS like the good old SIM card days. I still cant believe it doesn't have a SIM card. Now im terribly confused, this site is one of the first listed on google, Is there an "official" update coming? may 11 ish? I don't need the GPS badly so I can wait for the safe path.

The May 11th "update" is just another Samsung testing ROM like the one we have now. Go ahead and do the flash. It's well worth it, and the risks are minimal :D
Guest theidoctor.org Posted May 8, 2009 Report Posted May 8, 2009 No CDMA networked phones will have a SIM card.. ever.. sorry to burst your bubble, but blackberries do... my storm uses cdma and gsm... if its unlocked. but yea, it does have a sim card from verizon.
Guest blazingwolf Posted May 8, 2009 Report Posted May 8, 2009 sorry to burst your bubble, but blackberries do... my storm uses cdma and gsm... if its unlocked. but yea, it does have a sim card from verizon. Which makes his answer correct. The CDMA portion of the phone does not use a SIM card while GSM portion does. The Omnia, since it is CDMA does not have a SIM card (there are some CDMA carriers that use a RIM card but that is another topic). Once Verizon switches to LTE we will have SIM cards (most likely).

Once Verizon switches to LTE we will have SIM cards (most likely). right, but my phone does have a sim card... its a verizon issued card, which i guess locks it to just the verizon network... of course there is a vendor file, when deleted unlocks it for use with other carriers... (with more hacking as well) i just thought he meant no cdma phone will have a slot for sim cards... i was getting too technical.... i understand the cdma will never use sim cards :D anyways, im excited about the LTE for verizon, but i dont have a good feeling about an iphone and verizon together. From what i have read, apple is working on a couple different versions of phones for verizon and none are really the "iphone"... i wish they would just stick with 1 phone, and not work on any lite or mini or whatever!
Guest Solange82200 Posted May 8, 2009 Report Posted May 8, 2009 Guys, I have a question. Is there any truth to this theory that GPS works better on some of the custom ROMS than on the Beta ROM? I am happy with the Beta ROM, and would like to stick to it, but since it takes me a while to connect to GPS sometimes, Im wondering if Wozzer's or Ad's ROM would help. I cant see how they would make a difference though. Anyone know?

Guest azpirin Posted May 9, 2009 Report Posted May 9, 2009 http://www.theidoctor.org/omnia.html there is a link on the right sidebar Thanks but are there any other links not torrent? I don't use torrent and hate to just learn how to use torrent to get this image. Anyone with rapidshare or any other file sharing site to share this image?
Guest dmcnado Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 Thanks but are there any other links not torrent? I don't use torrent and hate to just learn how to use torrent to get this image. Anyone with rapidshare or any other file sharing site to share this image? Actually, torrent is not hard to do. Use the program you can download at: http://www.bittorrent.com/ Here are the steps: 1) Download the torrent file from http://www.theidoctor.org/omnia.html 2) Download & install the file from Bit Torrent http://www.bittorrent.com/ 3) Open the torrent file using the bit torrent program. The output will be a RAR file. 4) Extract the RAR file. Voila, the output will be: i910WM6.1.REV10.CC20.VZW.img
Guest theidoctor.org Posted May 10, 2009 Report Posted May 10, 2009 yeap, and unfortunately thats the only way to share this file right now... i may work on another way, but im kinda busy lol
