Guest necosino Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 (edited) Has anyone tried this program? GPSToday That's exactly the type of proram I was thinking of! I'll give it a shot today :excl: Hopefully other apps can also access the GPS data while it's open (I'll test this, too) There are two version, a HOME screen app, and a stand-alone full version. It says that they can't both run at the same time, leading me to believe that only one app can access the GPS at a time.. Might as well just run iGO8 all the time :excl: Edited April 14, 2009 by necosino

I may try the app anyway to see how it works and see it I can run the today plugin and IGO at the same time.
Guest necosino Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 Problem solved: BAF GPS Toggle Keep it on, running all the time, and it keeps your GPS locked (or at least seeking) sat's. PLUS you can run this with other GPS apps simultaneously (like iGO8). Just pop it onto your home screen, tap it to turn on your GPS, wait for it to get a lock, and then open your GPS app and you'll have an instant lock :excl: I've been running it for about 40 minutes now with no battery drain :excl:
Guest Omega Ra Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 interesting. I installed the GPS Today and it it right, can't run it an iGO at the same time, but it is easy to disable it from the today screen, just tap it to turn it off. But your way sounds better...

Yeah, the BAF GPS Toggle can remain on the entire time and does not interfere with other apps. For example, I use SPB Mobile Shell so I can't see my today screen, but I have it running. I can just go straight to iGO8 without jumping back to the today screen to disable BAF first :excl:
Guest Omega Ra Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 Yeah I just installed it on mine and it works great, had instant lock in iGO8. when I am in a place where i can get a lock with it. Where I stand here at work is in the middle of a warehouse with a lot of walls aound me, so the signal sucks here, but when I go elsewhere in the warehouse I get a lock of 5 sats :excl:
Guest flyaf05 Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 2 cold starts today...first: 30sec 5+ sats second: 45sec 5+ sats I think we may have a working aGPS hack
Guest Omega Ra Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 Okay, with the GPS toggle and it on...yes much more battery used. So not a great idea to leave it on all day lol.
Guest dmk679 Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 I cold locked in about 40s while driving home from work (gps clock out of date by 3hrs). Does anyone know how to force a cold lock - does reinitializing google maps clear your location and force a cold lock? I think we may be seeing normal time to first fix (TTFF) for this chipset. Need to do more testing and sniff some data packets.

I wait a minute to a minute and 30 seconds then shut it off. I dont believe this hack is a working aGps hack. When i get home I will double check my qpst settings to make sure everything is exact. You could sniff the data if you tied your phone to use a PC internet connection via activesync. it should tell you real quick if it is even probing telusmobile at all.

Guest flyaf05 Posted April 15, 2009 Report Posted April 15, 2009 is this with gps toggle? No it was after changing around the gpsone agps settings in qpst and rewriting the reg based off the settings on page 1
Guest ardvarkofdoom Posted April 15, 2009 Report Posted April 15, 2009 Hey guys... I really don't know if this could have any affect on anything... but I was playing around on "advanced config" and noticed that there was a section for GPS and I noticed that it says "assisted GPS: Disabled (default)". This setting can be changed to enabled. Hopefully that helps someone :excl:

Guest dmk679 Posted April 15, 2009 Report Posted April 15, 2009 We need to determine if enabling agps in this program simply modifies the reg entry hklm/software/samsung/ril/gps/agpsstatus Can someone verify? On another note, if you do a hard reset or flash a new rom etc, the first time you use the GPS is known as a Factory Lock. See this link which discusses the different locks. This is different than a cold lock.

Guest Ishman Posted April 15, 2009 Report Posted April 15, 2009 I have added the registry changes mentioned in this thread as well as the GPSone modifications. When I use the advanced configuration program, I don't get the agps option. Are others?
Guest cheifkeiff Posted April 15, 2009 Report Posted April 15, 2009 i have v3.3 and don't have that option either
Guest j0hnd0e82 Posted April 15, 2009 Report Posted April 15, 2009 do not have that option on my i910 advanced config 3.3
Guest Adrynalyne Posted April 15, 2009 Report Posted April 15, 2009 I have it. Maybe it has to be cooked in? Mine was cooked in.

I just did my Factory lock a few minutes ago and will test a cold lock at my house later tonight. I am still using the full settings (everything checked).
Guest Adrynalyne Posted April 15, 2009 Report Posted April 15, 2009 which cooked rom are you using? and can you just get me a link to it? Its the only i910 cooked rom. Don't be lazy, check the rom section :excl: http://www.modaco.com/content/i9x0-omnia-r...910-cooked-rom/
