Guest Zeski Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 now i get loads of "init: cannot execue(blah blah blah):Permission Denied" and auto restart In bash, go to the root of your SD card and type "chmod -R 777 *" This will give full permissions to anything trying to make changes to the files on the SD card.
Guest ins0MNIAc Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 I've been following this project on a daily basis since June, and there have been some truly impressive breakthroughs from the developers. Keep up the good work everyone. Can someone please repost rev 159, and throw a link out here?
Guest Gibeon Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 this is a attributes problem. the windows (fat/ntfs) filesystem dont know the linux (ext2/3/4) file attributes. you should better use linux (ubuntu) for setting up the rootfs! :) offcourse. I'm re-upping the 159 rev, if the original poster got a problem with that, PM me.
Guest muskamj Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 (edited) I've been following this project on a daily basis since June, and there have been some truly impressive breakthroughs from the developers. Keep up the good work everyone. Can someone please repost rev 159, and throw a link out here? I just compiled and installed it. Working great on my i910 so far! Here's a link to the 159 files: http://rapidshare.com/files/264288305/andromnia159.zip.html Also, I didn't see the last post from Gibeon before uploading this, sorry... I guess having multiple mirrors isn't a bad idea, though. Edited August 6, 2009 by muskamj
Guest Gibeon Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 No problem, here's my mirror: https://www.yousendit.com/download/Y1RvY05qRndVbSt4dnc9PQ
Guest andygreenough Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 Yes, being on a 64bit install will cause that error. The compiler chain is only setup for use on 32bit x86 systems. I'm sure there's a way to get it to work on a 64bit system...but it's beyond my ability and none of the active developers are on 64bit systems so it's not likely you'd get much "inside" help with getting it setup. Best bet is to grab a x86 VM and compile in there. Thanks! I thought so. Will set up the VM tonight and get it all built, then I can start contributing :)
Guest infmpv00 Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 I don't know if someone said it yet, but there is a mobile phone with the same specs as omnia (same factory too) with android. The name is Geek one. Web page: http://www.geeksphone.com More info in spanish: http://www.xataka.com/moviles/geeksphone-o...e-y-con-android
Guest ob3l1x Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 i try to put android into my phone but i've some problems :) 1. if i start gparted it shows me that my card is locked but i don't know how to unlock it ;) (it's 8GB Kingston) 2. if i format it in PPM Pro to ext2 it give me error .... 3. if i overlook the error and than copy android on card after i start harret it boot but it writes me error that it can't find correct files ;) i don't know if i have to put all the folders and files to root or create 1 folder and put it in it ....
Guest Gibeon Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 As far as I know you have to put the files from "andromnia_rootfs" on the card, not the folder itself. But correct me if I'm wrong, haven't tested it yet.

I mean, it could have the same processor but different wifi/sound/bluetooth/etc chipsets, which would make it useless for us...

I dont have linux on my system, just want to be able to copy it across and have a play with android cheers You have to use Linux, but you can just download Ubuntu and run it from the boot-cd, no need to install anything :)
Guest ob3l1x Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 now it works :) if someone have same problems as me just do this .... 1. start ubuntu live cd 2. connect your omnia as mass storage 3. after ubuntu recognize card (probably as usbdisk or the name of the card ...) click on icon on the desktop a click eject 4. start gparted (start terminal and write sudo gparted) 5. select storage card ... if there are more partitions (probably sda1 and sda5 maybe more...) delete all partitions and then you have 1 partition click on it and click NEW (it will create new partition ext2) now just click apply to apply changes ... 6. now you can copy files on the storage card ...

Guest muskamj Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 Question: Is there any way to install apps? I'm trying to download and test stuff from the Marketplace, but there don't seem to be download links anywhere. Is this 'cause we aren't using official Android hardware? Or am I just not seeing the links?

Guest Tigrer Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 Short way to get working andromnia is downloading Puppy linux live CD (it has gparted application of course and about 100MB only) for memory card partitioning and rootfs unpacking/copy. Here is latest andromnia. I did everything under windows xp with Puppy .iso booting in Virtualbox but you can too burn CD from puppy .iso and boot pc from CD. BR Lukasz
