Guest aceofrazgriz Posted August 15, 2009 Report Posted August 15, 2009 (edited) galaxy won't help much, especially for the radio as it uses a different chipset. i900 is MSM62xx (6281?), i910 is MSM7500, Galaxy is MSM7201. Couldn't find solid results but they are indeed different radios. Edited August 15, 2009 by aceofrazgriz
Guest z3ntn3l Posted August 16, 2009 Report Posted August 16, 2009 (edited) I got it to work. I dont know why, but if i made the Ext2-Partition with Kubuntu i doesnt work. I tried it again with Ubuntu and it works. I'm really impressed how good Android is running. I run Android yesterday for about 60minutes and it was stable. Some things i noticed: - Boot time on the first boot is a bit long. But after that it boots up faster. - If the Screen goes into Stand-By/Sleep-Mode i'm not able to wake it up. (I disabled Sleep-Mode in Settings) - The CPU becomes warm temperature. Very warm. - its possible to use the Internal-Storage (and use the saved Pictures etc.) Very good. - WiFi works - SMS works (send and receive) - SIM-Contacts cant be read/used (not a problem - just for info) One question: Is there any File-Manager included? How can i try to install an App? Edited August 16, 2009 by z3ntn3l

Guest monyozt Posted August 16, 2009 Report Posted August 16, 2009 what do you mean sd card? OMNIA only support micro SDcard... is that you mean SD card is Micro SD??
Guest swimmer_tr Posted August 16, 2009 Report Posted August 16, 2009 (edited) in first picture, there are files that are an updated version of andromnia_rootfs.tar.bz2 . in version 163, there are only SD Card's files. old version of HaRET will work. but i prefer HaRET 1.53: http://pmaster.no/andromnia/haret.zip Also you must download the new image file for booting. then raplace with old one. http://pmaster.no/andromnia/image.zip sorry about my bad english... Guest Gintoki Posted August 16, 2009 Report Posted August 16, 2009 (edited) Hi guys, your project is awesome but i have a few things to ask... 1) Can i install this on a Samsung omnia i8000? 2) In the end, will we have a full-working android (decent speed/ram, STORE, etc) or will the performances still remain worse than on an original android phone? thanks and sorry for my poor english...keep going!!! Edited August 16, 2009 by Gintoki
Guest swimmer_tr Posted August 16, 2009 Report Posted August 16, 2009 this is not a full-working OS yet. This like a theme. after a soft reset, WM will boot. i don't know about i8000. but i think you can't. because i know drivers of omnia II and drivers of omnia are different. but maybe i know wrong :D developers maybe reply your question.

Guest muhlba91 Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 (edited) yes.... then i saw this video that video shows android runs on WM(i mean dual OS). the question are : 1. how to install android on OMNIA(step by step for nubie like me ;) ) 2. if im on android mode(switch from WM to android) how to disable android OS so i can back to WM mode? 3. is there most phone+pda function normally(bluetooth, camera, send and receive sms, make and receive call etc) thanks for great answear 1. i've answered the question on this post (http://www.modaco.com/index.php?s=&showtopic=289028&view=findpost&p=1054078)! Hopefully you'll understand this, otherwise ask! 2. there are two ways to get back to WM: a. soft reset b. Reboot App (http://www.andromnia.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=27 - there is also a howto!). But this way i haven't tested until now... 3. wifi works, sms sending & receiving works too. make & receive calls doesn't work for me and i think that this function isn't developed until now. camera doesn't work too. anything else important??? :D (4. for sending & receiving sms i recommend the freeware chompsms (http://www.chompsms.com/main/install_chomp - there is also a install howto) - open the page with android (wifi connection!)) (5. goto andappstore.com and install/download free apps for android if you want ;) ) maybe this helps you! ;) Edited August 17, 2009 by muhlba91
Guest Adyz Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 Pretty quiet around the development lately. Even the changelog stays unchanged ;) Do you guys have any news for us? Or is the project halted? :D Thanx for update
Guest nollie Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 Some of the developers are on holiday.

Guest muhlba91 Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 Hi There, I am trying to get android to work on my omnia, but everytime i try to run haret it freezes at ANDROID logo or it restarts the phone, and i dont know how to get it to work? can anyone help me i've followed all the Manuals who are available, and i want android so much! please help me greetings, Marc it must work! attention: first boot takes a very long time - you can take a cup of coffee while android is booting! I've installed android as follows (i don't know if its gramatically rigth!): 1. start with linux (e.g. ubuntu livecd or something else), 2. open gparted and make an ext2 partition on your sdcard (maybe you have to unmount the device before you can change anything (type in the console umount /dev/sd?? - means your sdcard device (normally sda or sdb) - second ? means the partition number (or you type * instead of a number)) - maybe you must restart gparted, 3. after creating a new ext2 partiton mount your partition by typing sudo mount /dev/sd?? /mnt (here you must specify the partition number - 1 for the first, 2 for the second, ... - no number means the device and a device can't be mounted!) 4. copy your rootfs to the sdcard (sudo cp <rootfs> /mnt) 5. goto /mnt (cd /mnt) 6. unpack the archive (sudo tar zxvpf <rootfs_archive> (if it is a tar.gz or tgz, if it is only a tar you can't use the option "z") 7. remove your archive if it exists (sudo rm <rootfs_archive>) (7a. May be you have to make sudo chmod 777 -R *) 8. goto / (cd ../) 9. unmount your device (sudo umount /mnt) and wait until it has finished. 10. now you have to copy haret and the kernel-image to the main memory of omnia (otherwise you can't start haret ;) ) 11. if your ext2 partition isn't the first one modify in default.txt the partition (root=/dev/mmcblk0p1 change the last number to the partition number!) 12. run haret. normally it would work, otherwise post some errors and maybe anyone knows the solution :D and it works great! (i think you have to make the step 7a!). i've taken the files from: http://pmaster.no/andromnia/

Guest Gintoki Posted August 19, 2009 Report Posted August 19, 2009 (edited) my andromnia doesn't boot even after 20 minutes (on the second try, the first time i did a reset) before i get the "Android" logo i get this message: "Can't access tty; Job control turned off", then the logo appears (and often enlarges) but the system doesn't boot...what should i do? is it the same problem? Edited August 19, 2009 by Gintoki
