Guest absolutly Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 Sure, unless you are a Verizon i910 user. Probably a stupid question, but this only works with the beta (CC20?) GPS unlocked ROM posted months ago and not with the original one right?
Guest Repairman2003 Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 I get no fix... ;) Maybe I'm missing something: 1. Install CC20 2. Install ROM of choice 3. Turn Location On 4. Install this quick GPS cab to the device and soft reset 5. Install Google Maps 6. Change GPS Settings to Set Manually, COM 8, 57600 7. Walk outside in a clear open space 8. Turn it on and watch it say "Seeking GPS satellites (446954816)..." 9. Watch it time out with weak GPS message Setting the GPS settings on Google Maps to Managed by Windows times out with "Seeking GPS satellites (0)..." With one of Wozzer's 6.5 roms Lite or Stock of one version, I could install VZNavigator and it would run normally and would got a lock within a few seconds. I don't understand how you guys are getting fixes and not me. I've tried everything and am giving up until (if) Verizon unlocks it.
Guest Lisbian08 Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 No I didn't write it. I'll take credit for finding it, but thats where it stops. ;) This app is ooold, from WM5 days. Check the ppcgeeks thread, I found an even better app. I had more success with the 2nd app. It seemed to work better. I also deleted the values in those 2 reg keys. My GPS performance is much better. Thanks for the tip.

Check the ppcgeeks thread, I found an even better app. Yeah, I like that one better! Any objection to my uploading and posting it here? Also, do you know how the "automatic" option in that app works? I'm assuming that if you check it, it does exactly what I was talking about, scheduling a WM notification event every 3 days to download. Any insight?

I'd like to see screenshots of VZNav working on ANY cooked rom, or even CC20.

Like I say, I'll take credit for finding and verifying it works, and thats it ;) As for the Auto feature, I dont know. Get back to me in three days :D Until then, the calendar reminder works :)

Guest necosino Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 Definitely prefer the GPS QuickFix app as opposed to Q-GPS. Highly recommend that you all head over to ppcgeeks and get it ;)
Guest bga7x Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 I'll load the rom I got it to work on when I get back home tonight and let you know which one it was ill bet my second born that we dont see any screen shots of this!!!

Guest dmk679 Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 I am not getting any quicker locks using this one. Cold fixes around 30-40s and hot fixes in a few secs. How fast are you getting cold fixes?
Guest Adrynalyne Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 Ive had them as quick as 4 seconds and as slow as 30 seconds. Sure you are doing a cold lock? I tested from a clean flash, each time before posting. Doesnt get any colder than that.
Guest illusion786 Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 (edited) Sure, unless you are a Verizon i910 user. Oh ok. ;) Doesnt the gps extra software work for verizon users ? You can try this Extract the gps xtra.rar into your ppc then update the agps server using my cab below. Then run gps extra and enable XTRA as well as sntp server, then click xtra data download. you get a better interface as well :DGPS_XTRA.rarillusion_gps_server_update.cab Edited June 30, 2009 by illusion786
Guest necosino Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 Pretty sure they had been working on this for a long time with no results, actually..

A 4 second cold TTFF without aGPS sounds too good to be true. Edited June 30, 2009 by dmk679

A 4 second cold TTFF without aGPS sounds too good to be true. I dont see why it wouldn't. You are the expert with QPST--wanna give it a shot and let us know? I know prior to this, it took me in the upwards of 5+ minutes to get a GPS lock after a flash. Edited June 30, 2009 by Adrynalyne
Guest Junoman Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 i900 users need not apply. They have a much better app for this, via GPS_Xtra. Any help please?
Guest Junoman Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 i900 users have a better program available, I think it's called QPST or something like that ;) Where can I find this QPST? Will this support for Navigation program like TomTom or iGO? J.
Guest dmk679 Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 Where can I find this QPST? Will this support for Navigation program like TomTom or iGO? J. You can find it via torrent...it is an internal qualcomm tool. The next time I flash a rom I will check EFS for GPS almanac data.
