Guest Unisoldrew Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 Why do some appear under incoming call but not other catagories e.g. text?
Guest rcicu Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 (edited) I had some issues using MS3 to set a mp3 ringtone, but was able to set it in WM contacts and Settings->Sounds & Notifications->Notifications... all my ringtones are on "My Storage"\"My Ringtones" except system notifications I couldn't get them to work unless I stick them in the Windows directory. I use http://media-convert.com/ to convert troublesome mp3's to wav's Good Luck, Edited July 22, 2009 by rcicu
Guest doitall76 Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 The easiest is to copy MP3 to the root of My Storage, then select them as Ringtone in Settings > Sounds & Notifications > Notification tab. I cannot help thinking that i'm talking to a baby. If you really cannot set MP3 as ringtone, you should dial your local Samsung support long ago rather than wait 6 months ;) . Dude you are an idiot. Not to be condescending to you...which means talk down to you, :D but I have just encountered this after flashing to blazingwolf's ROM, which is great with everything else. This is the only problem that I have. As well, I have had this phone since December and have always been able to access the "Set as Ringtone" option. I know that I can put the mp3 file into the memory of "My Device" and it shows up under the drop down folder of Sounds and Notifications. That works. But the problem is that, in doing so, it eats up the device memory. I have a folder of about 20-30 mp3 ringtones, so that would eat up my device memory, if I went that route. I would prefer to keep them in the similar set up that I have had, and that all of you have, where it is a folder under My Storage. If you go back to my previous post, you see that the system isn't recognizing the "Common" file as a music files (with the icon). This is the reason that it is not bringing up the "Set as Ringtone" option. Where as the "Ring" file (which is a wma file), I receive this option just by pressing and holding. I think that this is the real issue. Can anyone help me in figuring this out. BTW, this applies to all the mp3 files on my phone. Thanks Doitall76
Guest doitall76 Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 alright, so the problem lied with the Kimora Player. It changed the association of the mp3 files in all of my folders. Once I removed the program, that solved it. Everything went back and started showing the option for "Set as Ringtone". Doitall76

You clearly didn't read my last post, an hour before yours, (not to mention the one before). That wasn't the main issue. It was the association of the files. It wasn't the placement of the files. WTF is duhz???? How old are you? Doitall76
Guest camxposure Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 I use VITO ringtone editor and it works great. You can then save the ringtones to the /Windows/Rings folder or assign them from VITO and they will be recognized. It used to be free, but it seems its 7 bucks now. You might be able to find the old version though. The thing you want to do- is minimize the file- by clipping it - and sampling it over - which is exactly what this VITO ringtone maker does - and your best to keep the file size down- because you may want to make ringtones for everyone you know that calls you- and that - unfortunately cause you to lose memory- because of the space that they take up/ now if I can find a way to relocate my rings- not to mention get them back-... HELP
Guest forelli Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 The easiest is to copy MP3 to the root of My Storage, then select them as Ringtone in Settings > Sounds & Notifications > Notification tab. +1: works all the time whatever rom you flash to, BUT for the new builds 230xx, you have to copy the SMS ringtones to My Device/My Documents/My Ringtones forelli p.s: nobody is an idiot, just people not knowing where to find the appropriate information... Respect is everything!

Respect is everything! That uses up storage space. There is actually a mortscript that assigns a random mp3 file from a folder as your ringtone. The folder can be on a storage card and save space.
