Anyone else having this problem? I love this rom to death, but this just isn't fun. This happened in 1.8, too, so it must have something to do with the newest revisions to the OS.

Thankfully it only occurs on the Home screen. It works fine after a soft reset, but slowly deteriorates into what you see here (and worse the longer you let it go). The the clock panel is the first to distort, if that detail helps at all.

Is there any fix for this? Thanks for all your hard work on this!

not much... I run Garmin Mobile XT, GCzII, Skyfire, and Opera 9.5 build 2392 with Flashlite. I also installed the CC20 xt9 keyboard cab from a few pages back.

If any of those are causing it, i'd guess GCzII because it's not developed by a professional (and you can tell from the look of the program). I guess i'll just have to do some detective work to find the culprit.

EDIT: I've reset a few times, trying different programs one at a time, and it happens with a lot of programs. I just started up and ran WMP from the Home screen panel, changed from portrait to landscape and back, and it happened. So the problem seems to happen when I switch the orientation from within programs?

Opera is already in the rom. are you doing any sort of back up?

Hey BGill, finally got yer 1.9 all setup and smoothed out like i do it. Very nice job! Yer right, if you just cut the throttle back a lil bit while typing, you don't notice the lag. Very well done!

Yes, there is lag when you use the Samsung keboards. However, there is no lag if you decide to use the stylus and the small/full WM keyboard. It's always been this way, even in the stock build. I'm a slow typer, so it doesn't bother me. But, it can be a pain when you want to just type something quickly.

No, it hasn't always been the way it is now. The lag is pronounced for fast typers. I get a little annoyed when typing a text but I just slow down and like BG said, it cuts down on my errors. I'm not sure why MS has this lag in their builds but it could have something to do with better screen precision on taps. I can't say for sure but it does seem more accurate on a tap.

And the WM keyboard? You're talking about the black and white one with letters so small that you need a magnifying glass and a miracle to hit the correct key? Ha! That doesn't slow you down because it's impossible to type faster than 1 letter per 5 seconds. :D

Might have a fix for the double tap testing now!!!!

ehh never mind still lags a little but its better i think

Bgill, love the new soft button layout of 23034 on 1.9 Flotanium. Have to report the same home screen distortion

from a few posts back. Looks related to automatic changes of orientation.

Thanks for your hard work.

I am having this same problem. I haven't installed anything that is not part of the rom (still exploring it). So far this has ONLY happened in portrait mode. I did a hard reset after installing the rom, and still got it.. It happened when opening opera one time, and another time with windows media, and again with settings. I turned off screen rotation, and it still happened. I havent had this problem in landscape mode (though I'll admit I have NOT used it very much in this mode). I have included a screenshot (hopefully this will help). It almost appears that the last program that I had open (opera) is taking up the right part of the screen, and the home screen is taking up the other side... hmmmm If there is any more information I can give to help solve this let me know.

I too have noticed a lag on keyboard and on anything that requires double tapping.

Also, I wanted to say Thanks for taking the time to make this rom, it is fantastic. Keep up the good work!

I have the same issue when the screen rotates. I haven't installed anything or changed any of the settings, except for GPS and screen rotation. As said previously, it only happens on the home screen and does get worse over time. I just removed the screen rotation and it didn't happen again.

Same here.

But what I do, is I have the quick menu button (top right button on side) set to screen rotation, so when I need it I press it then. I just remind myself not to do it on home, or to put it back on profile before going back to home screen.

I've got the screen distortion when orientation changes aswell...

Is there anyway to get the back ground to change for all menus? right now when i got to the start menu it uses the rom's original background... (except in landscape...)

another bug i have is the facebook addon doesn't work just says "the file fim cannot be opened" someting about being unsigned with a trusted cert or component.

also on the lock menu i get a little distortion at the bottom.

There is a lag not only with the Samsung keyboard but also with my TouchPal keyboard. Since that is designed to allow 'faster' keying it is very annoying. Even their built-in keyboard in Spb Wallet for keying in your password is SLOOOOW - almost have to wait a second between each key.

Hope someone can figure this out soon. Maybe there is a key delay setting somewhere in the registry?

Bgill: This ROM is pretty good - so far the best of the 'new' 6.5.1 ROMs. Keep up the good work, you da king of ROMs! :D

Other than the keyboard delay (which I've already commented on), the other things I notice are:

  • Some apps still don't display right, i.e. Resco Explorer has it's bottom bar chopped in half, etc. I will expect some apps to do this since I am sure they need to be rewritten for 6.5.1.
  • Newbreak seems to like to hang a lot on any ROM over 23017. Again, probably a bug related to Newsbreak running on 6.5.1

Other than that (so far anyway) pretty stable for a beta ROM.

Did I see something about Bing now working in this release? (1.9/23034)

Hey I am using 1.9 Flotanium and its awesome but when I click all settings it takes me to network settings and when I click on the browser softkey or the omniarom.com link neither do anything. Any idea why this is happening?

So I am not crazy...all the way. I have these same issues Resco geting cut off. Also no "OK" or "apply" button popped up when I installed Pocket .RaR so had to do a soft reset and It did not take (at first). I am also having double-tap issues, especially with Resco Explorer. There were a couple other things too.

However, if it were not for these things I would have kept it 1.9 for sure. I reverted back to 1.5 (my fav ROM so far). I will wait untill some of these kinks get addressed/worked out.

Keep up the good work though. Much appreciated.

we have to wait until 3rd party app catch up to this. they have their app set up for a different screen size with WM changing everything around they will have to fix their apps accordingly.
