Guest rndchef Posted July 26, 2009 Report Posted July 26, 2009 I thought I saw this discussed already here but I am all over the place these days and can't remember where anymore. These two apps are the bomb for laptop internet access through tethering your Omnia as a modem or wireless access with wifi. The wireless access is too cool. I used to spend $15 a month with Verizon and it rarely worked well. They both setup perfectly and I am on the internet in no time tethered and wirelessly. Very cool! Even my wife is impressed and she could give a rats a#$ most of the time. Just thought I would share. http://www.samsung-omnia.org/samsung-omnia...i-tethering/30/
Guest blazingwolf Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 One more convert. I had a few poeple over last night and it turns out one was an Omnia owner. He was griping about his phone and it seems my sister in law (who this guy works with) was talking about seeing your ROM on my phone. Needless to say, after a quick "test drive" of my ROM he was asking how I did it. I pointed him to this forum....so we'll have another soon. That's great. :) You seem to convince a lot of people. ;)
Guest blazingwolf Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 I found back in the winmo2003 days that it was easiest to set up my exchange account under active sync on the device (configure server option from the MENU) and personal imap/pop accounts using the messaging gui. Really the only time I tether anymore is when I want to transfer HUGE files to my device (and even then I usually just pull the memory card and transfer onto that You can set this up on your home computer ... it shouldn't matter but what version of exchange are you using? and is OWA fully functional? ex2007 is a beast and as my admin tells me we must have a seperate server to run OWA and if there is any issue there we lose the ability to sync. You really shouldn't have to hard reset to blow away and rebuild your exchange account ... I set mine up with the messages program. It then automatically starts activesync and connects to my works 2007 server. No issues, no extra settings, nothing.
Guest sessionthree Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 I set mine up with the messages program. It then automatically starts activesync and connects to my works 2007 server. No issues, no extra settings, nothing. This is what I do and never have any issues.

No reason to use any other program. I used it today to do most of my internet surfing. Plug in your USB cable to your PC, turn on internet sharing on the phone (actually press the connect soft key) and then plugin the cable to your phone. Your PC should recognize it and then use it as the connection to the interent.

Guest Vahnyyz Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 Do you have it set to manual or automatic? Any programs that might affect the back light? What do you mean you can't find your headset? Make your device discoverable and then do the same to the headset. They will find each other with almost no input from you. You can also just click on Add new device from the Bluetooth settings page. Start/Settings/Bluetooth. I try setting it up manually but even after having it set to full, after i use the power button to turn off the LCD the brightness doesn't come back to full even though the setting is set to max. As far as I know lingo fake call g-alarm nav n go igo 8 wvd and wmtorrent don't affect the screen's backlight. also i had no idea WHY I didn't see that "Bluetooth" option I swear i looked for it in the connections menu and just assumed it wasn't there, i'm SO sorry i was stupid and didn't read every hexbox thingy
Guest Pastian Grey Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 Couple of questions here: 1) I posted a question a couple pages back about not being able to change the alert tones for text messages, email alerts, etc to anything other than the handful of stock tones. I used to be able to have any of my custom ringtones for any of the alerts but no longer. Is this exclusive to this rom, CF03, WinMo 6.5, or just the Omnia altogether? Anyone? Any insight would be apriciated. 2) The background on the ms3 professional page is funky blue. On the last rom I was using, (r&r 8) The background was black. Much prefered. I can't find a way to change it back to black or anything custom which would be cool too. Anyone got any ideas on this? 3) I tried that weather pannel program with ms3 but could not for the life of me get it to work. In fact I've never been able to get any kind of weather program to work with ms3. It has a weather panel built into it but that has never done a darn thing except cause the spinny color wheel to just spin and spin till I soft reset. Any help would be great cuz I can't figure this one out either. I try not to clutter the forum up with every little thing I can't figure out and hardly ever post any kind of question because I almost always eventually figure it out. But I'm stuck on these couple things so any help would be welcome and appreciated. Thanks. Oh, I'm using Night v1.2 if that's relavent. P.S. I never thought to check before because I remember BW saying that voice comand via bluetooth did not work on the omnia for whatever reason' but one day on accident while running R&R 7 or 8 I activated and used the voice comand via bluetooth with no problem. I don't know why I never thought to mention it on here. Maybe because I try not to post very often. But anyway, I noticed that the bluetooth voice comand isn't working on this rom. I don't really care about it since I don't really use it but thought I'd mention it incase BW or someone wanted to go back and tinker with that old rom and maybe figure out how it worked and get it running on this. Just throwin it out there for whoever might care

Place the picture attached here somewhere on your Omnia (Storage Card, My Storage...wherever). Go to the Start/Settings/System Settings/Today At the bottom, check the Use this picture as background box, then point it to the picture you saved. OK your way out (I don't have my Omnia in front of me, so that's by memory. Some of the stuff may be worded differently, but you get the idea) Professional uses the same background as Today.

WM alerts can be tricky but I have been able to get them to work by placing the wav files in the "Windows" directory and keep the ringtones on the storage card under "My Ringtones" As for the background I believe that color is controlled by your WM Theme try selecting a different one that BW included in the rom. The Weather on MS3 is hit or miss and doesn't work that well when it does work. It's a known issues on the SPB forums. Good Luck!

They are for the ringer though so should not technically affect anything else. I will play with some different sounds and see if I can duplicate this issue. 2. Answered above by rcicu. You can also use the built in theme change to change the color though that will also affect the today screen. 3. Weather Panel is a today plugin that will not work with MS3 unless you have the widget for it. Did you download that also? Did you get Weather Panel working on the today screen or not at all? I haven't used Weather Panel in awhile so I would need to play before I can give you better answers. 4. I haven't changed anything with Voice Command in any of my ROMs so it should work on all of them. I know older versions of it had bluetooth issues but others found work arounds. I would need to play with this to find out any more. I do know that Voice Command is not starting after first flash or a soft reset. You have to open the settings for it and then it will work. This is due to missing shortcuts that I will be putting in the next update.
Guest rndchef Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 I finally got weatherpanel to work with MS3 yesterday. It was not easy and took two installs to get it going. You have to follow a careful progression of installing 3 programs to get it going in MS3. Soft reset after each one. There is a lot to read on this. Here is a quick overview to see if maybe it helps. 1. Install Weatherpanel 2009.cab on device 2. Install Phat Phinger II into Weatherpanel Themes file, copy file into Themes file, that's it. Nothing to run. 3. Get Weatherpanel setup on your today screen and configured with a city and set Theme to Phat Phinger and Layout to Phat+48.wpl. It has to be running on Today Screen. 4. Make sure it is working there first. 5. Install WP Activate on Device 6. Run Inject App successfully, I believe this connects the program running on your today screen with the app you will put in MS3 7. Add Weatherpanel App to MS3 Lifestyle Page, there should be several to chose from. 8. You should have it working. Press the widget to make sure it loads the Weatherpanel. Mine did not the first time so I had to start again. I believe the steps above were different than my first attempt that failed. 9. If you find, like I did, that the link stops working. Go back to Today Screen, update the Weather and then go back into MS3 and it should be working again. Good Luck!
Guest sepp_a_u Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 Finally have a CF03 based ROM for you folks to try. :) This new version is called Night. It is a little heavier than usual because of some of the itmes I have left in for more finger friendly access. This ROM is built with the SYS and XIP of 23009 which is the latest release of WM6.5. I would like to thank the following people for helping me with my Roms: Adrynalyne bga7x hartv427 Noonski Please remember that you flash at your own risk and I am not responsible for any bad things that happen to your device. How to flash: You must flash to the CF03 ROM before flashing to this ROM. Then: Use UMDL and click on the PDA button. Browse to the location where you placed the bin file and click on open. The file will load. Once it is loaded click on Detect. Now turn your device off by holding the power button until you see the shutdown gif. Once your device is shutdown plug it in to your pc. Now turn your device back on by pressing and holding the power button. UMDL should detect your device and start loading the new ROM on to your device. 7-22-09 Update: Updated XIP and SYS to 23009, Fixed bugs. 7-19-09 Update: Updated XIP and SYS to 23007, Fixed Volume Control bug Items in the ROM: Advanced Config 3.3 Apptodate Batti 2.4 Bing Black Power Calc Black Keyboard Black Phonebook Black Call log Black Easy Settings Black FMRadio Bluetooth Icon broker Default IM Esmertec JBed Java HTC dlls HTC Task Manager Kinetic scrolling Mortscrip My Phone Neo Titanium Panels - ATContacts, CClock, CHome, CLauncher, COpera, CLinks, COffice, CAppointments, TitaniumWeather, CMusic, Cpictures Personalizer PIM backup PSShutXP SD card Tuneup Showaco CHome Editor Showaco Restart SkyFire Spb Screenshot XDA_UC Removed: All cursors except the standard arrow Security check Screen Calibration Theme Editor Large Display (icon still shows in settings but will not work) Business Card Reader Connected Home Digital Frame Infrared Drivers Main Menu Media Album Non English Keyboards Photo Slides Podcasts RSS Samsung Today 1 Shozu Smart Reader Testing exes (there are a bunch of testing items in this ROM due to its beta status, those are removed) Text Messsage Retry Touch Player Transcriber Video Editor Visual Voice Mail Welcome Center (completely removed and screen alignment preset, you may need to tap the start menu button to get the today screen to load) Widgets Windows Update Zoomer And more... User Customization: My ROM uses a user customization tool called XDA_UC created by Noonski. It will allow you to place your theme, tweaks, cabs and other files on your storage card and have them installed automatically after a flash or hard reset. To get a better idea of what I am talking about please see this thread over at XDA-Developers: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3611692 These files will need to be put in a folder in the root of your storage card. The folder is called XDA_UC. For your theme to be used you will need to rename it to My.tsk and place it in the XDA_UC folder. Then on first boot your theme will be used. Cab file installation. If you want cabs to be installed to device memory the place them in the XDA_UC folder. These cabs will be installed silently and need no user interaction. If you want a cab file to be installed to your Storage card or My Storage then you will need to place cab file in XDA_UC/SD. Any cab files in this folder will auto launch but will ask you where to install them. After installation you will need to tap on OK and the next cab file installation will start. Reg tweaks that you put in will need contain the following line at the top of the file "Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00", a line space must be included at the end of the file. If you look at the XDA-Devlopers thread I linked above you will see more information about this. Now that I have done this there are some changes to the startup procedure. Please note the changes so you do not have issues. You no longer need to tap on the start menu to have the ROM finish loading. This will be done automatically for you. Wait for about 30 seconds or so and you will see a customization popup that will let you know that customization is starting. You can tap on the countdown number to start or just let it count down. This will install any items that you have in the XDA_UC folder. If you have no XDA_UC folder you will still see the customization popup. Tap on the countdown or let it finish. It will finish installation of the items I have placed in the ROM. Once this has finished a popup screen will appear letting you know that the customizations have finished. OK out of this screen and your device will soft reset to complete all installations. MS3 version download in post #2. Known issues: Please let me know if you have any problems. http://www.4shared.com/file/119984485/bd0b...ightv12bin.html Hey it looks so great. I love the menu on the left hand side. Can I also update my i900 with this rom or is that impossible? Would be great if somebody can help me. Kind regards, david

Guest Mistar Muffin Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 BlazingWolf, I use FingerKeyboard 2.1 on your ROM (which I love BTW), but the input still does not stick after a soft reset. Before 1.2 after a soft reset I had the small, white standard Win Mobile keyboard every time. Now with 1.2 after a soft reset I always have the XT9 keyboard. This is an improvement of course, but I would like to have the Fingerkeyboard to stick. Any advice or thoughts on where I can set this to make it stick or is it still a bug? Thanks.

I use fingerboard along with BW's Rom. Did you set Fingerboard as default in Input and in IM Selector? I have been using it since V2 of BW's CC20 6.5 Rom and as long as I make the setting changes there I never have an issue.
Guest Majorair32 Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 (edited) Hey is anyone having a problem with the Change Backlight screen in the Pro Ultimate MS3 addin. Everytime I goto that screen my MS3 locks up. I tried to change my phone from automatic to manual and same issue. Let me know if that doesnt work and if so it there a way to disable that so it doesnt lock my phone when i run into it. Thanks new version is a rock. Edited July 27, 2009 by Majorair32

Guest doitall76 Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 Blazenwolf, I had posted, last week, inquiring about the keyboard that you used on the Republic ROM, and whether this ROM had the same prefill feature that the Republic had. Yes, you were correct that V2 does include it. Is the cab for that keyboard posted anywhere? Is it something that can be added to any of the other ROM's? Doitall76

Doitall76 It's not the keyboard. it was a reg setting in the ROM. You should be able to use any keyboard and still get that.

I asked the same question a while back and YES, this seems to be a known issue on the i910. Since I don't need to use the backlight panel in MS3, I just remove the panel from the registry to make sure I don't accidentally tap it and lock up. It's not a fix, but it works for me. you can find the registry panel folder entries in: HKLM\Software\Spb Software House 2\Spb Mobile Shell\NowScreen\Layouts HKLM\Software\Spb Software House 2\Spb Mobile Shell\NowScreen\Panels\ (mine was panel 14, yours may differ depending on your panel order) softreset If you would like to find a fix for this issue, it would likely be best to find the author of the addin (mskip I believe at xda_developers) and search or post in their forum. We would appreciate any updates if you find one.
