Guest xpilesx Posted July 31, 2009 Report Posted July 31, 2009 Wanna take me with you? I don't eat much. :) Have fun. Haha...I'll finally buy that pepsi for you, or maybe a beer. ;)
Guest blazingwolf Posted July 31, 2009 Report Posted July 31, 2009 Hey wolf I loaded 1.3 and the Phone ringer profiles work again. 1.3 is sweet cant wait for ms3 version although im kinda likeing the ms3 and winmo home screen's although the colors in ms3 are stuck on blue with the normal cab install hmmm... The mskip widget fix the color issue on most screens but some like weather and contacts are still blue. Kinda weird. I might just wait till you get the ms3 ver out and try that. Great to hear. :)

Guest LucidLight Posted July 31, 2009 Report Posted July 31, 2009 MS3 version Not yet updated I finally decide to flash and there is a new rom comming.....oh the irony. :) I can't wait. With the original software my omnia was locking up and the screen was getting jumbled, and generally pissing me off. Boy I hope 6.5 solves all that! James
Guest 70blzr Posted July 31, 2009 Report Posted July 31, 2009 blazingwolf-just installed QIK but the program never starts up, i have the MS3 rom install, have you tried installing this program or know of any bugs that would not let it not start. I thought I saw a post awhile back but i am unable to find it now.
Guest monsterpt Posted July 31, 2009 Report Posted July 31, 2009 Updated to 1.3. Awesome! No problems so far. Lovin the new task manager, touch response (don't have to set it up myself now). With XDA_UC you keep finding new ways to make my life easier and make flashing so much quicker. Thanks for all of your hard work BW.
Guest monsterpt Posted July 31, 2009 Report Posted July 31, 2009 FYI - my vote is for GoogleMaps in and Bing out. Bing has never given me the speed or accuracy that Google does with the GPS.

James Although I haven't flashed this version, I did flash R&R and it's beautiful! I'm just waiting for the MS3 version of this newest ROM and there'll be no holdin' me back! ;) You'll love it!

Guest wd4sgu Posted July 31, 2009 Report Posted July 31, 2009 @Everyone, Would you like to see Google Maps in the next version? It works well for me, using aGPS to locate me within 1200 meters even before the GPS locks on to enough satellites to track properly. Bing, on the other hand, seems to be a general waste of space. Personally, I would prefer that you don't install either of them and allow us to make our own selection based on local functionality. Besides, if you include it in the ROM, it takes up more space in main memory. Thanks for asking. :) Mike
Guest metalzoic Posted July 31, 2009 Report Posted July 31, 2009 (edited) Personally I would prefer that programs like opera, skyfire, bing, google maps etc... be left out of the Rom. They're standard apps that are easy access to download or re-install. I prefer to install all my apps to My Storage and not waste device memory on them when possible. They're also likely to have updates so they need to be reinstalled eventually anyway. And I'm not sure on this, but does App to date even work on programs built into the Rom? I say only put in programs that improve the feel and performance of the rom (touch response, kinetic scrolling etc...) Also on Bing vs. Google maps, Bing works pretty great for me here. Locks quick (about the same as google), gives good directions based off my gps location etc... The locate me feature doesn't seem to work, but searching based off of my gps location does. Maybe I'm just lucky with it? Anyway, feel free to ignore my opinion since I'm just a noob here! HA! Edit: And I forgot to say thanks BW for the reply about using SPB backup! Appreciate it. I second this post, leaving out apps that have to be updated on a regular basis helps alot.

I second this opinion. I noticed after putting everything that I want on it and putting all added programs on the Storage Card, my Main Storage is only 33MB free and Program is 50MB free. Seems like we are starting with less Main Storage because of the preinstalled ROM programs which many I do not use or don't know how to use. I am always hoping that a new ROM will make this Omnia fly through apps but I have not seen that happen yet. It could be all the crap that I am adding prevents this but there are just too many cool things to put on this thing. I already have the cab for GoogleMaps 3.2 so I would prefer all these program stripped off so I can add from Storage Card. My wish list is a Base MS3 ROM with only the programs added that perform better integrated into the ROM and a link with the cabs that can be added if we want. I suppose with that comment, I better buy you a beer since you deserve it. :)

You can get if from the developers site.

I suppose with that comment, I better buy you a beer since you deserve it. ;) Well, this ROM is a bit heavy as it is. The black Russian apps add a ton. If your down to 33MD free then you are adding 50MB or more to device memory. <_< What the heck are you installing? Can some of that stuff be put on a storage card or My Storage? This will help you to save device memory (although this doesn't really make a difference to your device except for access speed to programs). Program memory is in the 50s mostly because of the 12MB page pool. So no real big hit there. @Everyone, The ROMs that I create are generally for me (yes, I do use both of them depending on my mood ). So I add programs in that suit me like SkyFire (used for flash apps on the web). I added the black apps because of the requests for something different (which I agreed with as they really make the ROM different and nice). All of this is to say that I don't really plan to make a "base" ROM. It's a lot of effort that I'm not willing to put in since I would not be using it. I hope everyone understands what I am trying to say as I do listen to the requests and wants and will put them in when and where I can. :) Hmm, do I sound like a jerk now? ;) Edited August 1, 2009 by blazingwolf
Guest metalzoic Posted August 1, 2009 Report Posted August 1, 2009 A jerk? NEVER! I wasn't making a request at all... it's just that the topic turned that way so I thought I'd throw my 2 cents out there is all. I totally understand that the rom's come "as is". I think you even say this in the 1st post. I also thought it would be less work for you to leave them out, not more. Shows you how little I know about building roms.

Guest blazingwolf Posted August 1, 2009 Report Posted August 1, 2009 Thanks metalzoic and bga7x. I was beginning to think I had scared everyone off. lol.
Guest monsterpt Posted August 1, 2009 Report Posted August 1, 2009 (edited) Thanks metalzoic and bga7x. I was beginning to think I had scared everyone off. lol. You guys provide a great service to people without expecting anything in return except feedback. There are a half dozen chefs out there making ROMs for the 910. I hope they are all making them to suit their own needs first. I think only the chefs get the "perfect" ROM bc it is tailored for their needs; and it doesn't seem like they are ever satisfied with it either. You definitely aren't going to lose any fans bc you build what you want. Y'all keep putting out the great ROMs and they will keep dl'ing 'em. I know I will! LONG LIVE THE OMNIA CHEFS! Guest monsterpt Posted August 1, 2009 Report Posted August 1, 2009 BW, have you seen the ROM dump from the Omnia II? The updated Samsung black theme looks really smooth. Trying to adjust the resolution to fit the 910 now.

Thanks again for all your efforts. Just to put my 2 cents in... I can see advantages to either putting stuff in or leaving it out. Personally, I like both Google Maps and Bing. They both seem to work well for me on your rom. But, I guesss that doesn't really answer your question, does it? If I had to choose one, I think I would prefer bing because it offers more (at least from what I have seen). However, I will probably keep both installed anyway. Looking forward to the new version of ms3! ;)
