A suggestion regarding ROMs with MS3 included:

MS3 forces install in Main Storage, but can be moved to My Storage after install with a thorough tool like SK Tools, and runs without problems. This saves about 7MB in Main Storage.

So, BlazingWolf you might consider this approach for the MS3 version of your ROM, and then just include a CAB or ZIP of the files moved to My Storage.

For example, after a hard reset I install MS3, then SK Tools, then move MS3 to "\My Storage\Program Files\SPB Mobile Shell". At that point the registry and anything else in Main Storage is set up and modified to point to the new location, and the 7MB of files are in My Storage.

The next steps would then be to create the ROM as usual with this stuff cooked in. Perhaps even make it auotomatically install the files in My Storage that are there now?

That takes away the benefit of it being cooked in. If your looking to do this then install the Neo Titanium ROM and install MS3 over the top.

OK, I started over with a Hard Reset and Storage reformat. Everything is working smoothly and no errors. :) 67MB Free Storage compared to 33MB before.

I have got to stop reading these forums. I just added GPS Toggle since I read the prior post. It never ends..... Is it normal to have like 15 - 20 things added to your phone on top of this MS3 ROM?

And I like Bing because I was driving today and used the Speak Search function and it worked like a charm. Pretty slick!

I would say its normal.

I was counting out my programs as I put them into the XDA_UC thing before my last flash and I had 68 different programs installed and I've added a few since then!

Re-registering them is a real pain though...

Also, I'm probably doing something wrong ( I did re read all the instructions) but XDA_UC only kind of works for me. It did'nt install a single program into device memory, and it only prompted me for the install of about half of my SD programs. Anybody else have this happen?

EDIT: I know a lot of you seem to like MS3 but have any of you tried PointUI Home 2? I've tried pretty much every major UI/shell interface (MS2, MS3, Goodwin, Winterface, Home plus, some I phone crap, Home 1.5, Wisbar advance, Wisbar desktop, and more) and Home 2 beats them all hands down in my opinion.

I really like ms3, but I have not tried PointUI Home 2. What are the benefits? MS3 runs so smooth, and is very finger friendly, which is something I like the most.

Could you post screen shots of PointUI?

That's a ton of programs to install. Why so many? I need more info on which ones you are having issues with.

Please take the conversation of Pointui to PM or the main forum. Thanks. :)

Many are (or were) just OS improvements like Touch response, sdk certs, flat black, wvgagafix3, obex inbox, advanced config, mortscript, flashlite 3.1 & player 7, on and on etc... about 15 are games and the rest are the actual programs I use, Opera 9.7beta, Skyfire, Egress rss, Twikini, scrub, Sk tools, Pandora, Evernote, Creative notes, Thumbcal, a few resco and spb programs and a bunch more

I haven't really had any problems with any of them running. They just didn't all auto install for some reason. It's not a big deal, I was just wondering why is all.

You build several in so I don't have to install as many anymore!

Well, there are things you are installing that are already in the ROM. So why install them again? SDK Certs, Advanced Config, SKyFire, MortScript, Flashlite 3.1 are all included in the ROM. No reason to install them twice unless you feel the need to use up more memory. :)

I won't be able to tell you why unless you can give me more information. Which ones don't install? Where are they being installed to? Does it give an error message when installing? How long is it taking before you get to the XDA_UC finished install message?

Yep, I actually didn't need to reinstall many of them since you build so many in which is nice. Lots are just ones I had installed before I flashed to your rom (just answering your question about why I had so many installed)

Unfortunately I wasn't really paying any attention when it was auto-installing as to what the programs were, so I don't really remember many. I didn't have any error messages, and none of the installs seemed like they were taking longer than normal.

I know that wvgagafix3 (device) was one, the black samsung dialer (device) was another, My Netflix manager (my storage), Wunderradio (my storage), Wifirouter (my storage), and ShootMe (my storage) are some, and none of the games installed but I can't remember the others...

And to clarify, it didn't install anything and then it wasn't there. It just didn't even attempt (or prompt me) to install many, almost like they weren't even in the folder even though they were.

I'm thinking it's because of the order it tried to install some, or maybe because a few programs require a soft reset (like the dialer), or most likely just because I'm doing something wrong :) HA!

Like I said it's no big deal, and I've already wasted enough of your time even mentioning it.

and I certainly don't want you wasting your time trying to figure it out. If I can figure it out on my next flash I'll let you know though.

Thanks BW!

It's possible that it could just be the number of apps that you are trying to install. Might be overwhelming XDA_UC, though I couldn't begin to tell you why. Your not performing a soft reset when a program asks for it are you? This would stop XDA_UC and anything else would not install.

I'll see what I can find but I'm not coming anywhere near the number of installs that you are doing.

No I didn't do a soft reset while it was running. In fact I think it skipped trying to install anything that required a reset.

Please don't worry about it. Especially as I seem to be the only one it happened to, and I can manually install them almost as fast anyway. Sorry to waste so much of your thread with it...

The thing is it's a problem. I don't like having problems in my ROM. So I will see what can be done.

There is a bug with the new contacts when using the default contacts program. You can use PhoneBook to save until I get the new version out.

BW, could you add GPS Toggle into MS3 as a widget that shows up on the Lifestyle page? Just curious. The program shows up on your Today Screen outside of MS3 without any options to pick it as a program widget.

No, I can't. Have no idea how to do that at all let alone with a today plugin. Sorry.

I used MS3 Toggle linked to my camera button to toggle easily back and forth between MS3 and Today Screen. I found Weatherpanel works clean when installed only on Today Screen without the WP Activate so the toggle lets me quickly see satelites and better weather.

I apologize if my prior email sounded demanding. Not trying to be a pain.

Awesome rom, BW.  I was wondering if you have any alternate dialer skin.  I tried to install Adrynalyne's dialer to your rom but it did not work.  I do not know how to disable samsung dialer..if this is in fact the solution to make it work to your rom.  Your assistance is always appreciated.

Well, you can remove the sdkcerts. It's built in to the ROM. Yes, the cabs tend to go by alphabetical order. So switch the order and see what happens.

Thanks BW. Well, I added a number to the beginning of each cab filename to control the installation order, but ran into a new problem when I tried to do another hard reset: I could not enter anything at all into the lock code box -- that is, I'd type each digit but nothing was actually showing, so the "Yes" button never darkened. Fortunately, I cycled power (soft reset), and was able to hard reset immediately after that.

With the re-ordered cabs, XDA_UC still didn't load anything. Now I think it might be a problem with my new SD card, but don't have the old one with me to compare. Is there any way to run XDA_UC from the 8GB flash (My Storage)? I tried it with no other changes but that didn't work either. Unfortunately, I didn't see it addressed in the XDA_UC thread, so it's probably simply not designed to work that way.

Mind posting a link to MS3 Toggle. I've never heard of it.

Your not being a pain. I just don't know how to do what you want. You can ask over at the Mobile Shell forum to see if they can help you.

No, I don't have any alternate dialer skins. The one Adrynalyne should work then as it just replaces the Samsung theme. You can also use the WM dialer. Just disable the Samsung dialer in Advanced Config phone settings.
