Guest blazingwolf Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 Thanks BW. Well, I added a number to the beginning of each cab filename to control the installation order, but ran into a new problem when I tried to do another hard reset: I could not enter anything at all into the lock code box -- that is, I'd type each digit but nothing was actually showing, so the "Yes" button never darkened. Fortunately, I cycled power (soft reset), and was able to hard reset immediately after that. With the re-ordered cabs, XDA_UC still didn't load anything. Now I think it might be a problem with my new SD card, but don't have the old one with me to compare. Is there any way to run XDA_UC from the 8GB flash (My Storage)? I tried it with no other changes but that didn't work either. Unfortunately, I didn't see it addressed in the XDA_UC thread, so it's probably simply not designed to work that way. Lock code box? Is this for the hard reset program? If you need to do a hard reset you can use the end and send keys and soft reset while holding them to accomplish this. Which keyboard were you using? At this time there is no way to run XDA_UC from a storage card. Are you sure you have the folders setup correctly? Can you access your storage card with your phone? Have you tried to format the card?
Guest Majorair32 Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 Hey blaze is it just my phone or does anyone else's have a problem with the search bar in Opera not working with xt9 only abc mode. I can use xt9 on the address bar but as soon as I drop down to search bar it goes to abc and I cant change it.
Guest rndchef Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 Mind posting a link to MS3 Toggle. I've never heard of it. Your not being a pain. I just don't know how to do what you want. You can ask over at the Mobile Shell forum to see if they can help you. Here is the link for MS3 Toggler. I cannot find a way to use it as a widget but it works better for me to have it linked to a hard button so you can jump out of an application quickly. http://www.samsung-omnia.org/spb-mobile-sh...3-toggler-v1-0/
Guest itb44 Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 Lock code box? Is this for the hard reset program? If you need to do a hard reset you can use the end and send keys and soft reset while holding them to accomplish this. Which keyboard were you using? Yes, I meant the lock code entry box for the hard reset program. XT9 keyboard. Thanks, hard reset = <end><send><soft reset> was very timely advice. I ran AppToDate and it was causing lock-ups on each reboot, but <send><end><soft reset> broke me out of it enough to show a Showcase_X.exe error screen: "Cannot open 'Showcase_X. A critical component is either missing or cannot start . . .". Unfortunately, I could not actually get it to hard reset by doing that. Fortunately, by hitting <end><send><power> several times I was able to get to the hard reset program once. Upon hard reset, I got a Personalizer error on first reboot, and a WLMImageUpdate error upon final reboot. At this time there is no way to run XDA_UC from a storage card. Are you sure you have the folders setup correctly? Can you access your storage card with your phone? Have you tried to format the card? I assume you meant no way to run XDA_UC from folder on the INTERNAL 8GB My Storage chip. It's supposed to run from the XDA_UC folder on the removable mini-SD card, correct? I thought my XDA_UC folders/files were set up and named properly, but I suppose that could still be the problem (I did read the XDA_UC thread, and double-checked my stuff for typos, etc.). I could usually access the mini-SD card from the phone, although it did seem slow. I didn't think to reformat the card, but that's an excellent idea -- I'll try that soon.
Guest rndchef Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 Wozzer used an IM Application on his 6.1 ROM that I have not been able to find anywhere. He doesn't appear to be cooking anymore. It had three options for IM and ran on its own versus on the net. The Default IM doesn't seem to work with my Yahoo email. Anyone familiar with it and can post a link to the cab? I have searched everywhere for it and tried others but this one was the best.

Haven't heard of any issues like this but I know there are issues with actually typing in Opera with the standard keyboard.

To hard reset with the end and send key you must hold those two keys after the soft reset until you see the screen asking if you want to hard reset. The error with Showcase is a problem with loading things. I'm not sure why it is doing it but if you OK out of it the program will work fine. I'm trying to figure out why this is happening. Yes, I meant XDA_UC can not be run from My Storage at this time. Sorry, about that. I'm at work and get interrupted frequently. Hopefully a format of the card will help you out. I'm having no issues with XDA_UC loading my programs.

If you can find a screenshot or a name I might be able to lead you in the right direction.
Guest Tim-H Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 Just wasnted to say I love 1.3. Everything is running smooth and its really fast/responsive. Im not sure if you had showcase in 1.2 because i skipped that release but I love it. Awesome work!
Guest gadgetguy08 Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 (edited) Well, there are things you are installing that are already in the ROM. So why install them again? SDK Certs, Advanced Config, SKyFire, MortScript, Flashlite 3.1 are all included in the ROM. No reason to install them twice unless you feel the need to use up more memory. :) While I can see Adv Config and Skyfire in the program list, I am not seeing Flashlite listed and when I attempt to open an SWF file, Flashlite isn't a choice. Do I need to do something to make it visible? I am running v1.2 with MS3. Edited August 3, 2009 by gadgetguy08
Guest Vahnyyz Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 DUDE GUYS, WE ARE GETTING BLAZE IN TROUBLE! I think we all just need to listen to some cool jazz or easy listenings and chillax. We're all cool cats here, Blaze is working hard for himself and for us we should definitely invest in trying to figure out how we want to see him improve things and ask/make questions/suggestions after seeing if it would work ourselves. He's making things he would like to see on his phone work, so if we have a good idea I'm sure he'll be happy to incorporate our thoughts/plans/ideas. Just make notes and things and with a well listed set we can probably figure out what went wrong and where it went wrong.
Guest charles2995 Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 I have a few questions... First i will start with my omnia story... Alright, so, i am on verizon and and i was ready to get a new phone. i wanted an iphone because of all of the hacking possibilites, and i know how all of verizon's phones are locked down. so, i got the samsung omnia in hopes of having a little fun tinkering around with it and such. I soon grew tired of the firmware and was disappointed to find that there were no roms for this phone (this was in march). finally, the rom here http://theidoctor.org/omnia.html was released and i flashed right away. i was promised that there would be more widgets, better interface, etc. well, there were two more widgets added, and neither worked. However, the rom was a nice upgrade from what i had before. Soon, wozzer started his 6.5 roms and i was flashing those but i always was never satisfied for two reasons. one, i just wanted to have a phone that worked. all the versions kept needing upgrades and they were always buggy, etc. However, there was another reason. The touch sensitivity on the phone absolutely sucked. i mean, not like un calibrated. It was the worst touch screen i had ever used. That was odd, because reviewers said the omnia had a very responsive screen. i began to think; maybe i ruined the touchscreen by flashing my phone? or maybe it was broken from the start? which ever it was, im not sure, but i filed an insurance claim and soon enough my new omnia was here. i made a vow not to ever flash it with new firmware again, but here we are four months later and i am getting realy tired of the un finger friendly and confusing wm 6.1 interface. It is such a shitty phone with 6.1 So here is my question for you all Would you reccommend me flashing my phone again and starting this whole thing up again? or do you think it will just cause more frustration? If you advise me to proceed, can somebody refresh me on the procedure from step one, because i haven't done this in a long time. thank you very much

BW's are top notch. He has very good attention to detail. All of the Chefs here are great and you can regard the ROMs as flavors. Try them all you may like one better than the other. The support these guys give is second to none, you don't get a response this quick on software you pay for. Try and I promise you will be surprised. First update to the latest Verizon ROM then onward. The build of WM 6.5 are also much more refined than that WoZZer was using. Also you will not be alone all of us will help and hey f it bricks, the update for Verizon is official.....so that is the update that broke it right......... :-) Edited August 3, 2009 by BrianPick

More finger friendly and responsive in my opinion. 2. There is a sticky thread at the top of this forum that has all the info you need to upgrade.

Guest gadgetguy08 Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 Hmm, well I know that I cook it in to each ROM. You should see a Flashlite.dll in the windows folder. I can indeed see the Flashlite.dll in the Windows folder. As I indicated there is no shortcut (since there is no EXE) and when I attempt to start a SWF or FLV file, it wants to link it to an EXE. What step am I missing?
Guest itb44 Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 (edited) i am on verizon and . . . got the samsung omnia . . . The touch sensitivity on the phone absolutely sucked. i mean, not like un calibrated. It was the worst touch screen i had ever used. That was odd, because reviewers said the omnia had a very responsive screen. Actually, I had a similar touch sensitivity issue early on. Verizon offered to replace it free (I was well within 30 days, and on the original stock firmware). I probably would have taken them up on it, but I was out of the country at the time and didn't feel like dealing with the shipping/customs/etc. I "lived" with it like that for about a week, and then discovered and flashed the leaked cc20 (mainly just to unlock GPS). I don't remember noticing the sensitivity with the leaked cc20, as I was only on it for a few hours before I came over to the dark side :) Since then, at least, the sensitivity has been great. I have no idea what the original issue was, but I did buy into the insurance just in case it comes back. Sorry for the semi-off-topic, but speaking of insurance (after 30 days), how does that actually work? Do they send you a new phone directly, a coupon towards a new phone, or what? Do you have to get exactly the same model replacement phone? If so, would it necessarily come with the latest firmware? What if the phone model had been discontinued? Also, if you switch from one owned device to another owned device on a particular account that has insurance (for example, if you were desperate for a working phone and happened to have an old spare), how would they decide which device to cover? Guest robconn Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 Blaze, You rock! I flashed (for the last time, I hope) this rom, and have everything that I want, and SPEED! Please stop, rest on your laurels, relax, I do NOT want to be tempted to flash again, it's like masturbation, you just can't stop..... :) ;) ;)
Guest bigperm Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 QUOTE(daba81 @ Aug 2 2009, 14:02) Blazing, were you able to fix the problem with contact additions and saving?

As I indicated there is no shortcut (since there is no EXE) and when I attempt to start a SWF or FLV file, it wants to link it to an EXE. What step am I missing? I think it is because there is no specific player per se. It is used in things like Samsung Widgets and the browsers. I will see if I can find a player to do what you want.
